Bernie Mac was an American stand-up comedian, actor, and film producer. His roles included the films Mo’ Money, Who’s the Man?, House Part 3, Above the Rim, The Walking Dead, Friday (1995), Don’t Be a Menace to South Central While Drinking Your Juice in the Hood, Get on the Bus, Booty Call, B*A*P*S, Def Jam’s How to Be a Player, The Players Club, Life (1999), The Original Kings of Comedy, What’s the Worst That Could Happen?, Ocean’s Eleven (2001), and its sequels, Ocean’s Twelve and Ocean’s Thirteen; Head of State, Charlie’s Angels: Full Throttle, Bad Santa, Mr. 3000, Guess Who (2005), Lil’ Pimp, Inspector Gadget’s Biggest Caper Ever, Pride, Transformers (2007), Madagascar: Escape 2 Africa, Soul Men, and Old Dogs; the series Moesha and The Bernie Mac Show; and the made-for-tv movie Don King: Only in America.
Bernie was the son of Mary (McCullough) and Jeffery Harrison. His mother was from Paris, Henry County, Tennessee. He was married to Rhonda Gore, until his death. The couple had a daughter.
Bernie’s maternal grandfather was Thurman/Thermon Jessie McCullough (the son of Kennie McCullough and Beatrice Porter). Thurman was born in Paris, Henry County, Tennessee, and was deacon at Burning Bush Missionary Baptist Church, in Chicago. Kennie was born in Henry County, the son of William McCullough and Margaret. Bernie’s great-grandmother Beatrice was born in Tennessee, the daughter of Lud Porter and Lucy Parker.
Bernie’s maternal grandmother was named Lorraine Bridges (the daughter of Shaun Bridges). Lorraine was born in Paris, Henry County, Tennessee.
