Ben Stein is an American writer, lawyer, actor, voice actor, comedian, and political and ecnomic commentator. He was a White House speechwriter for Presidents Nixon and Ford. Among his early performances, he starred as the economics teacher in the film Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. He hosted game shows Win Ben Stein’s Money and America’s Most Smartest Model, and clip show Most Outrageous Moments. His roles also include the films The Wild Life (1984), Ghostbusters II, Easy Wheels, Soapdish, Honeymoon in Vegas, Dave, Dennis the Menace (1993), Me and the Kid, My Girl 2, North, The Mask, and its sequel, Son of the Mask; Ri¢hie Ri¢h (1994), Miami Rhapsody, Casper (1995), and its sequels, Casper: A Spirited Beginning and Casper Meets Wendy; House Arrest, Wakko’s Wish, Osmosis Jones, and Expelled: No Intelligence Allowed, which he co-wrote; the short film Santa vs. the Snowman 3D; the made-for-tv movies National Lampoon’s Men in White and The Last Sharknado: It’s About Time; the shows Charles in Charge, The Wonder Years, Hearts Afire, Tales from the Crypt, Live Shot, The Mask: Animated Series, The Spooktacular New Adventures of Casper, Bruno the Kid, Aaahh!!! Real Monsters, Earthworm Jim, Duckman, Family Guy, The Fairly OddParents, As Told by Ginger, and The Emperor’s New School; and the video game Toonstruck. He also co-wrote the film The Boost.

Ben is the son of Mildred (Fishman) and Herbert Stein, a writer, economist, and presidential adviser. His father was born in Detroit, Michigan, and was Chair of the Council of Economic Advisers, from January 1, 1972 to August 31, 1974; as well as a senior fellow at the American Enterprise Institute, and a member of the board of contributors of The Wall Street Journal. His mother was born in New York, to Russian Jewish parents.

Ben is married to entertainment lawyer Alexandra Denman.

Ben’s paternal grandfather was David Stein (the son of Morris Stein and Ida Risnick). David was born in New York, to Russian Jewish parents.

Ben’s paternal grandmother was Jessie Segal (the daughter of Abraham Segal and Bessie Strom). Jessie was born in Brooklyn, New York City, New York, to Russian Jewish parents.

Ben’s maternal grandfather was named Benjamin G. Fishman.
