Bashir Salahuddin is an American actor, writer, and comedian. His roles include the films Snatched (2017), Gringo (2018), A Simple Favor, and its sequel, Another Simple Favor; Marriage Story, The 24th, Cyrano (2021), Top Gun: Maverick, Family Switch, Miller’s Girl, and Back in Action (2025); and the shows Arrested Development, Finish Our Movie, Looking, GLOW, Superstore, Single Parents, American Dad!, and The Dropout. He co-created the shows South Side and Sherman’s Showcase, both which he also wrote for and appeared on; and was a writer for, and performer on, Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.
His father is from Panama. His mother is African-American. His parents converted to Islam in the 1970s. Among Bashir’s siblings is writer and actor Sultan Salahuddin. Bashir is married to actress Chandra Russell, with whom he has a son.
