Barry Diller is an American businessperson. He founded USA Broadcasting, and co-founded the Fox Broadcasting Company. He was chairman and chief executive officer of Paramount Pictures Corporation, from 1974 to 1984; and is chairman and senior executive of IAC and Expedia Group. He is a billionaire.
Barry is the son of Reva Sarah (Addison) and Michael Diller, a real estate developer. His mother was partly raised in an orphanage after her father’s death, as her own mother was unable to care for her. Barry is married to fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg.
Barry’s paternal grandfather was Berl/Beryl/Beril “Bernard” Diller (the son of Schmuel/Shmuel Zanville/Seinwel Diller and Malka Werner). Berl was born in Staryi Sambir, Sambir Raion, Lviv Oblast, now Ukraine. Malka was the daughter of Osias Yehoshua Werner. Schmuel and Malka were buried in Jerusalem.
Barry’s paternal grandmother was Jütte/Juta “Ida” Gertner/Gartner (the daughter of Chaim Gartner and Beile Brandel Rapoport). Chaim was the son of Abraham Mojzesz Gartner and Hendla Jutta. Beile was the daughter of Mordka Rapoport and Sluwa Jenta.
Barry’s maternal grandfather was named Harry Addison. Harry was born in Vilna, Russian Empire, and was a Boston railway conductor.
