Amy Jo Johnson is an American/Canadian actress, filmmaker, singer, and songwriter. She plays Kimberly Hart, the Pink Ranger, in the Power Rangers franchise, particularly on the show Mighty Morphin Power Rangers and in the films Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: The Movie and Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. Her roles also include the made-for-tv movies Susie Q, Killing Mr. Griffin, Perfect Body, Sweetwater, Hard Ground, Fatal Trust, Magma: Volcanic Disaster, and Coming Home for Christmas; the shows Felicity, The Division, Wildfire, What About Brian, Flashpoint, Covert Affairs, and The Has Been; and the films Without Limits (1998), Cold Hearts (1999), Pursuit of Happiness (2001), Interstate 60, Islander, Veritas, Prince of Truth; and Tiger Eyes. She has directed, written, and starred in the film The Space Between (2016), and directed the film Tammy’s Always Dying. She became a Canadian citizen in 2015.

Amy is the daughter of Christine Loella and Greig A. Johnson II. Her mother died of cancer in August 1998 at age 52. Amy has a daughter with her former husband Olivier Giner.

Amy’s paternal grandfather was Greig Adams Johnson (the son of Montgomery Hunt Johnson and Frances Lillian Munger). Montgomery was the son of Arthur Breese Johnson and Elisabeth/Elizabeth Stringham “Eliza” Hunt. Arthur’s father, Amy’s great-great-great-grandfather, was philosopher Alexander Bryan Johnson, who was born in Gosport, Gosport Borough, Hampshire, England, to a Dutch-born mother; he was of Jewish parentage. Arthur’s mother was Abigail Louisa Smith Adams, who was the granddaughter of U.S. President John Adams, making President Adams, Amy’s great-great-great-great-great-grandfather. President Adams served from March 4, 1797 to March 4, 1801; and was previously also Vice President of the United States, from April 21, 1789 to March 4, 1797. Amy’s great-grandmother Elisabeth Hunt was the daughter of jurist and politician Ward Hunt, who was Chief Judge of the New York Court of Appeals, from January 12, 1868 to December 31, 1869, and an Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, from January 9, 1873 to January 27, 1882.

Amy’s great-grandmother Frances was the daughter of Henry Gillett/Gillette Munger and Ellen Arvilla Searles.

Amy’s paternal grandmother likely was Marilyn Alicia Twite (the daughter of Albert Harry Twite and Henrietta Mae Bangs). Marilyn was born in Provincetown, Barnstable, Massachusetts. Albert was born in New York, the son of English parents, George Joshua Twite and Henrietta Howard. Amy’s great-grandmother Henrietta was born in Massachusetts, the daughter of James D. Bangs and Frances P. Witham.

Amy’s maternal grandfather was Fernando Gonsalves (the son of Albert Gonsalves and Charlotte Pereira). Fernando was born in the Azores, Portugal.

Amy’s maternal grandmother was Anita Alice Benoit (the daughter of George Emile Benoit and Loella Erdelinda Howes). Anita was born in Massachusetts. George was the son of Joseph Emile Benoit and Elizabeth Lalibérté. Leolla was the daughter of Nathaniel E. Howes and Caroline/Carrie H. Lord.
