Adolphe Menjou was an American actor. He appeared in both silent and talking pictures. His films included The Sheik, A Woman of Paris, The Marriage Circle, Morocco, The Front Page, A Star Is Born (1937), The Fuzzy Pink Nightgown, and Paths of Glory.

He was the son of Honor “Nora” (Joyce) and Adolphe Jean “Albert” Menjou, a hotel operator, caterer, and cafe proprietor. His father was French, from Aquitaine. His mother was born in Ungey, Letterfrack, County Galway, Ireland. Adolphe was married to actress Verree Teasdale, until his death. The couple had a son, who was adopted.

Adolphe’s paternal grandfather was Bernard Severin Menjou (the son of Jean Pierre Menjou and Madeleine Subervielle). Bernard was born in Arbus, Département des Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Aquitaine, France. Jean was born in Arbus. Madeleine was born in Tarsacq.

Adolphe’s paternal grandmother was Claire Vignau dit Pucheu (the daughter of Jean Vignau-Pucheu and Marie Josephe Py Bourret). Claire was born in Cescau, Département des Pyrénées-Atlantiques, Aquitaine, France.

Adolphe’s maternal grandfather’s surname was Joyce.
