First conditional
¿Qué es el first conditional y para qué sirve?
El first conditional es el condicional que se usa para hablar de una condición posible y un resultado probable. Es decir, planteamos
situaciones que muy probablemente se harán realidad en el futuro.
Ejemplos:
IF + SUBJECT + SIMPLE PRESENT VERB + COMPLEMENT, SUBJECT + WILL + BASE FORM OF THE VERB + COMPLEMENT.
If I save enough money, I will go to the beach.
(Si ahorro suficiente dinero, iré a la playa.)
If she passes the exam, she will travel abroad.
(Si ella aprueba el examen, viajará al extranjero.)
If my family buys the land, we will build a house.
(Si mi familia compra el terreno, construiremos una casa.)
If you study hard, you will pass the exam.
(Si estudias duro, aprobarás el examen.)
If I explain it to my teacher, she will understand.
(Si se lo explico a mi profesora, ella entenderá.)
SUBJECT + WILL + BASE FORM OF THE VERB + COMPLEMENT + IF + SUBJECT + SIMPLE PRESENT VERB + COMPLEMENT.
Ejemplos:
I will bring an umbrella If it rains. (Si llueve, traeré un paraguas.)
You will pass the exam If you study hard. (Si estudias duro, aprobarás el examen.)
I will answer the phone If she calls me. (Si ella me llama, contestaré el teléfono.)
NEGATIVE
El first conditional también puede utilizarse en forma negativa. En este caso, es necesario incluir la fórmula negativa
doesn’t o don’t en la cláusula que incluye el ‘if’. Estructura:.
IF + SUBJECT + DON’T / DOESN´T + BASE FORM OF THE VERB , SUBJECT + WILL NOT / WON’T + BASE FORM OF THE VERB +
COMPLEMENT
SUBJECT + WILL NOT / WON’T + BASE FORM OF THE VERB + COMPLEMENT + IF + SUBJECT + DON’T / DOESN´T + BASE FORM OF THE
VERB .
Ejemplos:
If it doesn’t rain, I won’t bring an umbrella. (Si no llueve, no traeré un paraguas.)
You won’t pass the exam If you don’t study. (no aprobarás el examen si no estudias .)
If she doesn’t arrive on time, we won’t start the meeting. (Si ella no llega a tiempo, no empezaremos la reunión.)
QUESTION
If + Sujeto + verbo en presente simple, will + sujeto + verbo en infinitivo / Will + Sujeto + verbo en infinitivo + If + Sujeto +
verbo en presente simple + ?
Ejemplos:
If it rains, will you bring an umbrella? / Will you bring an umbrella if it rains? (¿Traerás un paraguas si llueve?)
If you study hard, will you pass the exam? / Will you pass the exam if you study hard? (¿Aprobarás el examen si estudias duro?)
If she calls me, will I answer the phone? / Will I answer the phone if she calls me? (¿Contestaré el teléfono si ella me llama?)
Will you buy me an ice cream if I clean my room? (¿Me comprarás un helado si limpio mi habitación?)
Will he pick you up if it is too late? (¿Te recogerá si es demasiado tarde?)
