Present continous / Presente continuo o
progresivo
El present continuous o presente continuo es muy sencillo de entender
y usar. Se forma igual que en castellano y se usa prácticamente en las
mismas situaciones. En español seria como el (ando / endo), tomando
como ejemplo los verbos comer y jugar; Yo estoy comiendo en la cocina
– Yo estoy jugando en el parque. En ingles; I am eating in the kitchen– I
am playing in the park.
¿Para qué se usa?
- Para describir acciones que están ocurriendo en este momento, es
decir, en el momento en el que se está hablando.
Ejemplo:
I am Teaching English – Yo estoy enseñando ingles
- Se puede usar para hablar del futuro.
Ejemplo:
We are eating at your home tonight. Nosotros estaremos comiendo en
tu casa esta noche.
- También se usa para hablar sobre estados temporales. Quiere decir
que esta vigente al momento pero en una fecha especifica terminara.
Ejemplo:
He is taking english classes this week – El esta tomando clases de ingles
esta semana.
¿Cómo se forma?
Con el verbo TO BE en presente simple (am, is, are) el cual actúa
como un verbo auxiliar más el verbo principal (terminado en –ing).
Sujeto + TO BE + verbo-ing
Puede ser de forma positiva o negativa.
Afirmativa
Sujeto + (am | is | are) + verbo acabado en –ing
Negativa
Sujeto + (am not | is not| are not) + verbo acabado en -ing
Ejemplos: Afirmativo
Estoy mirando el reloj de pared. I am looking at the clock.
Te estoy mirando. I am looking at you.
Estoy hablando con ellos. I am talking to them.
Estoy escuchando la radio. I am listening to the radio.
Ella está hablando con él. She is talking to him.
Él está escuchando las noticias. He is listening to the news.
Me estás leyendo un libro. You are reading a book to me.
Están soñando con la Navidad. They are dreaming about Christmas.
Estamos escribiendo al periódico. We are writing to the newspaper.
Ejemplos: Negativo
No estoy mirando a Laura. I am not looking at Laura.
No estoy cantando. I am not singing.
No estoy comiendo chocolate. I am not eating chocolate.
No estoy viendo la tele. I’m not watching TV.
Ella no está saliendo con él. She is not dating him.
Él no está escuchando música. He is not listening music.
No estás leyendo un poema. You are not reading a poem.
No están haciendo los deberes. They are not doing their homework.
No estamos bebiendo cerveza. We are not drinking beer.
Puede ser de forma Interrogativa.
Para formar el presente continuo o progresivo de forma interrogativa
colocamos primero el verbo TO BE (am, is, are) al principio de la
oración de esta manera lo volvemos una oración interrogativa.
TO BE (am, is, are) + sujeto (I, you, he, she, it, we, you, they) + verbo-
ing
Ejemplos:
Am I eating? - ¿ Yo estoy comiendo?
Are you playing? - ¿tu estas jugando?
Is he going? - ¿El esta yendo?
