PRESENTE CONTINUO
Reglas para añadir -ing a los verbos en inglés
1.- Verbos que terminan en -e
Para poner en gerundio estos verbos, debemos quitar la -e y
make⇒ Making
añadir -ing al verbo.
take ⇒ Taking
prepare ⇒ Preparing
Es importante mencionar que si los verbos terminan en con -ee,
entrarían dentro de la regla general y sólo habría que añadir
see⇒ Seeing
ing, sin hacer ningún otro cambio. Por ejemplo:
2.-Verbos que terminan en -ie
En este caso, quitamos la -e, cambiamos la “i” por “y”, y
die ⇒ dying
finalmente añadimos ing.
lie 🠮 lying
3.-Verbos con una sílaba que terminan en
consonante – vocal – consonante
Con estos verbos debemos duplicar la última consonante y
run ⇒ running
añadir ing.
stop ⇒ stopping
plan ⇒ planning
4.-Verbos de más de una sílaba, que tengan el
acento en la última sílaba y terminan en
consonante – vocal – consonante
Estos verbos son iguales que los del punto anterior. Tenemos
begin ⇒ beginning
que duplicar la última consonante para añadir -ing.
occur ⇒ occurring
prefer ⇒ preferring
Cuidado con las palabras que tienen el acento en la
primera sílaba. Éstas no entran en esta categoría, y por tanto
no duplicarían la segunda consonante, sino que seguiría la
visit ⇒ visiting
regla general.
happen ⇒ happening
open ⇒ opening
Estas son todas las reglas para añadir ing a los verbos en
inglés. Si estás empezando a aprender inglés, es algo que
tendrás que aprender de memoria. Sin embargo, la buena
noticia es que a medida que vayas practicando tu inglés y
escribiendo textos, todas estas reglas las irás asimilando poco
a poco y no tendrás que pararte a pensar en ellas.
