RESUMEN
La edición audiovisual forma parte de las innovaciones tecnológicas a las que
han estado sujetas las comunicaciones. Esta investigación estudia los aportes que
ofrecen los programas de edición audiovisual para los estudiantes de la Escuela de
Comunicación Social de la Universidad Central de Venezuela, quienes durante su
proceso de formación académica han tomado consciencia de la necesidad de manejar
estas técnicas para generar contenidos en diferentes soportes. Esto último fue el
principal motivo para determinar los conocimientos que ellos manejan sobre este
tema, así como evaluar el impacto que pudiera tener en el desempeño profesional.
En la comunicación social, el empleo de las nuevas tecnologías cumple un
papel fundamental, especialmente en la forma en que actualmente se trata y se
difunde una información. Los avances han obligado a los medios a incluir nuevos
mecanismos para llegar de forma más directa a su audiencia.
En consecuencia, se realizó un análisis cualitativo y cuantitativo para medir el
nivel de conocimiento que tienen los estudiantes sobre edición de audio y video,
identificar los ámbitos en donde se requiere su uso en función de las exigencias de las
materias audiovisuales y, además, conocer sus opiniones en relación con la formación
que han recibido en este aspecto. Igualmente, a través de entrevistas a profesionales
de la comunicación se recogió información acerca de la relevancia del uso de estos
programas en el campo laboral.

SUMMARY
Audiovisual technology forms part of the technological innovations that
communications have been subject to. This investigation studies the contributions
that audiovisual editions offer to journalism and social communication students at the
Universidad Central of Venezuela, which during and throughout their education, have
found themselves in the necessity of using these techniques as support for their
ongoing learning process.
As previously mentioned, the usage of these techniques was the main reason
to determine the knowledge, usage and the overall impact that it could have in the
students future professional career. In social communications the use of new
technologies is crucial and fundamental given the fact that in today’s world media has
been forced to search for new ways to approach their audience as quickly and directly
as possible.
Consequently, a qualitative and quantitative analysis was performed to
measure the knowledge students have over audio and video edition, identifying the
areas where its use is required based in audiovisual demands as well as assessing the
level of knowledge students have on the use of these based on the academic
instruction they have received. Furthermore, interviews where performed on
professionals in the area is communication whereas to access the use and importance
of these programs directly on the field.
