PAST SIMPLE
1. Definición
El past simple se utiliza para hablar de acciones que comenzaron y terminaron en el pasado. Es una de las
formas más comunes de expresar eventos pasados en inglés.
2. Usos del Past Simple
● Acciones completadas: Describe acciones que ocurrieron en un momento específico en el pasado.
○ Ejemplo: "I finished my homework yesterday."
● Hechos o estados pasados: Para hablar de situaciones que ya no son verdaderas.
○ Ejemplo: "They lived in New York for five years."
● Secuencia de eventos: Para narrar una serie de acciones.
○ Ejemplo: "I woke up, had breakfast, and left for work."
● Preguntas sobre el pasado: Se utiliza para formular preguntas sobre eventos pasados.
○ Ejemplo: "What did you do last summer?"
3. Formación del Past Simple
A. Verbos Regulares Los verbos regulares forman su pasado agregando -ed al final.
● Ejemplos:
○ play → played
○ work → worked
○ watch → watched
B. Verbos Irregulares Los verbos irregulares no siguen un patrón fijo, por lo que es necesario aprender sus
formas pasadas.
● Ejemplos:
○ go → went
○ have → had
○ see → saw

A. Oraciones Afirmativas
● Estructura: Sujeto + verbo en pasado.
○ Ejemplo: "She visited her friend."
B. Oraciones Negativas
