¡PELIGRO!
Designa una situación de peligro – grave o no
– para personas (incluidos los pacientes), que
únicamente se puede disminuir siguiendo las
instrucciones que se indican.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
Designa una situación de peligro para
personas (incluidos los pacientes) pero cuenta
con dispositivos o sistemas de protección. No
obstante, es conveniente poner en
conocimiento de la AUTORIDAD
RESPONSABLE o del OPERADOR.

¡ATENCIÓN!
Designa una situación de la que pueden
derivarse daños materiales para el equipo u
otros. Dicha situación puede ser evitada con
esta indicación o disponiendo otras
protecciones.

NOTA:
Se utiliza para aclaraciones e información
complementaria o enfatizada.
 Definiciones:
AUTORIDAD RESPONSABLE: Persona o grupo responsable de la utilización y
mantenimiento del equipo y del entrenamiento adecuado de los
OPERADORES.
OPERADOR: Persona que utiliza el equipo para el fin para el cual ha sido
diseñado. El OPERADOR debería haber recibido la formación adecuada para
este propósito.
TÉCNICO CUALIFICADO: Persona responsable de la instalación, reparación y
mantenimiento especial del equipo, que ha recibido la formación específica
para ello.
Todas las restricciones que hagan referencia a la AUTORIDAD RESPONSABLE
serán válidas también para el OPERADOR.

El diseño y especificaciones de este equipo, están sujetos a modificaciones sin

previo aviso.

1 INTRODUCCIÓN

ESTE EQUIPO ES UN PRODUCTO SANITARIO PARA DIAGNÓSTICO IN

VITRO (IVD).

Estas Instrucciones de Utilización, dirigidas a los OPERADORES de la centrífuga

DG Spin, contienen toda la información necesaria para trabajar de forma
adecuada y segura con el instrumento.
Leer cuidadosamente toda la información contenida en las mismas antes de
empezar a trabajar con el equipo, especialmente la referente al mantenimiento, las
sugerencias para un uso correcto y la información sobre productos contaminantes.
Si tiene alguna duda, contactar con el fabricante o distribuidor correspondiente
antes de iniciar cualquier operación.
Estas Instrucciones de Utilización deben estar accesibles, en todo momento, a las
personas que trabajen con el instrumento.

1.1 Indicaciones de uso

La centrífuga DG Spin permite llevar a cabo la centrifugación de las tarjetas DG
Gel.

1.2 Propósito, limitaciones y formación de los operadores

1.2.1 Propósito
La centrífuga DG Spin ha sido especialmente diseñada para realizar la
centrifugación de un máximo de 24 tarjetas DG Gel en una única tanda. Para ello,
los parámetros predefinidos en el instrumento (velocidad y tiempo) son los
requeridos para trabajar con este tipo de tarjeta.

1.2.2 Limitaciones
La centrífuga DG Spin está únicamente preparada para realizar la centrifugación
de tarjetas DG Gel según se describe en el apartado 1.1 “Indicaciones de uso”, y no
debe ser utilizada para ningún otro tipo de pruebas distintas para las que ha sido
diseñada.

1.2.3 Formación
La utilización de la centrífuga DG Spin no requiere de formación específica más
allá de la que establezca el propio laboratorio.

2 INFORMACIÓN SOBRE SEGURIDAD

2.1 Instrucciones importantes de seguridad

Las siguientes indicaciones tienen una implicación directa con la seguridad del
equipo:

¡PELIGRO!
El uso indebido de este equipo puede dañar la
protección proporcionada por éste.

¡PELIGRO!
Para evitar el riesgo de descarga eléctrica,
este equipo debe ser conectado únicamente a
una red eléctrica que disponga de toma de
tierra de protección.

¡PELIGRO!
Algunas sustancias con las que trabaja este
equipo suponen riesgo químico o biológico.
Deberían seguirse las normas establecidas de
trabajo en laboratorios, relativas al uso de
guantes u otros medios de protección.

¡PELIGRO!
En caso de derramarse líquido en el interior del
equipo, éste debe ser desenchufado de la
toma de red, limpiado y descontaminado. En
ningún caso, debe ser desmontado por
personal que no sea un TÉCNICO
CUALIFICADO y el equipo no se deberá volver
a conectar hasta que no haya sido revisado
por este último.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
Este equipo sólo debe ser utilizado por la
AUTORIDAD RESPONSABLE, OPERADORES y
TÉCNICOS CUALIFICADOS.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
Los ensayos de compatibilidad
electromagnética y de seguridad eléctrica se
han realizado con el cable suministrado por el
fabricante. Sin embargo, si tiene que utilizar
necesariamente otro cable asegúrese que
cumpla las siguientes especificaciones:
Tipo de cable: Cable flexible con aislamiento y
cubierta de PVC de 3 conductores (neutro,
fase y tierra).
Longitud: 2 m
Sección conductor: 1 mm2 o superior
Tipo de conector: Para toma IEC. Conector
para equipo clase I.
Tipo de clavija: Tipo de clavija utilizada en el
país donde se instala el equipo, con conexión
de tierra.
Conector, cable y clavija deben cumplir los
requisitos de seguridad eléctrica aplicables en
su país.

¡ATENCIÓN!
Utilizar cables diferentes de los especificados
puede dar lugar a un incremento de las
emisiones electromagnéticas y/o a una
disminución de la inmunidad del equipo.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
Deben tomarse siempre todas las
precauciones básicas de seguridad,
incluyendo las indicadas en el apartado 2.3
”Leer antes del uso”. Además, antes de
instalar el equipo deben leerse las reglas de
instalación especificadas en el apartado 5.2
“Requisitos para la instalación”.

2.2 Marcado del equipo

La centrífuga DG Spin está marcada con las siguientes etiquetas:
(1) Etiqueta embalaje
(2) Etiqueta de identificación y características técnicas básicas del equipo
(3) Riesgo biológico en la cámara de centrifugación.

Etiqueta situada en la parte superior derecha del frontal de la caja que conforma el
embalaje de la centrífuga DG Spin.

En ella, se utilizan los siguientes símbolos:

(2) Etiqueta de Identificación y Características técnicas básicas

Etiqueta situada en la parte posterior del equipo y contiene información técnica
del mismo (tensión de red, frecuencia, potencia y fusibles) así como el modelo,
número de serie, fecha de fabricación, nombre y dirección del fabricante e
información normativa.

Los símbolos adicionales a los anteriormente descritos son:

(3) Etiqueta Riesgo biológico

Situada en el lateral de la Cámara de centrifugación, indica y advierte del riesgo
biológico de los posibles restos de sustancias depositadas en ella.

2.3 Leer antes del uso

- Utilizar el equipo únicamente para el propósito descrito en estas
Instrucciones de Utilización.
- No introducir objetos en ninguna apertura del equipo, a menos que se
especifique en estas Instrucciones de Utilización.
- No utilizar el equipo si no funciona correctamente o si ha sufrido algún
daño. Ejemplos de defectos típicos son:
- Daños visibles por caída
- Daños visibles por derramamiento de líquidos
- Daños visibles por almacenamiento en condiciones
desfavorables y durante largo tiempo o por condiciones de
transporte severas
- Daños en el cable de red o en su conector
- No utilizar el equipo en atmósfera peligrosa o con materiales peligrosos
para los que el equipo no ha sido diseñado.
- No utilizar el equipo en presencia de gases inflamables o productos
volátiles.
- No utilizar accesorios que no sean los suministrados o recomendados
por el fabricante.
- No introducir en la centrífuga materiales inflamables, explosivos o
químicos que interaccionen vigorosamente.
- No apoyarse en la centrífuga.
- El equipo únicamente puede ser desmontado por personal TÉCNICO
CUALIFICADO, ya sea para fines de limpieza interna y/o reparación.
Antes de proceder a desmontar el equipo, desenchufar el equipo de la
toma de red eléctrica.
- Antes de llevar a cabo el proceso de limpieza o descontaminación
descrito en el capítulo 7 “Mantenimiento”, desenchufar el equipo de la
toma de red eléctrica.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
Según la norma EN 60601-1-2, recomienda
que la humedad relativa de la sala donde esté
instalado el equipo, no sea inferior a 30%.
Aunque el equipo puede funcionar con
normalidad con humedades relativas por
debajo de 30%, en ambientes
extremadamente secos pueden producirse
descargas electrostáticas de alto nivel que
podrían dañar el equipo.

3.3 Normativa
La centrífuga DG Spin cumple con las siguientes directivas:

- Directiva de la UE 2002/96/CE sobre “Residuos de aparatos eléctricos y
electrónicos (RAEE)“.

4.1 Descripción general de la centrífuga

La Figura 1 y Figura 2 muestran, respectivamente, una imagen frontal y posterior
de la centrífuga DG Spin.

4.1.1 Cámara de centrifugación

La Cámara de centrifugación (Ref. (1), Figura 3) es el área de la centrífuga diseñada
para alojar el Cabezal extraíble, contener cualquier suciedad originada por posibles
derrames o fugas fortuitos y facilitar su limpieza.

Adicionalmente, la Cámara de centrifugación dispone de una Tapa protectora
(Ref. (2), Figura 3) que cubre y protege igualmente al motor.

4.1.2 Cabezal de centrifugación

El Cabezal de centrifugación es un soporte circular con 24 posiciones numeradas con
Cestillas porta-tarjetas (Ref. (2), Figura 4) que permiten acomodar las tarjetas DG Gel
en su interior para su centrifugación.

El Cabezal de centrifugación es extraíble e intercambiable con objeto de aumentar

la comodidad del OPERADOR en la carga y descarga de las tarjetas. Para extraerlo,
levantarlo verticalmente mediante el Pomo de sujeción (Ref. (1), Figura 4) hasta
liberarlo de su eje de apoyo (Ref. (2), Figura 3).
Para introducir el Cabezal de nuevo en la centrifuga, la cruceta del eje dispone de
un sistema magnético que facilita el correcto posicionamiento del Cabezal.

4.1.3 Tapa de la centrífuga

La centrífuga DG Spin dispone de una Tapa de seguridad a bisagra transparente
(Ref. (3), Figura 1) con cierre electromagnético de seguridad.

4.1.4 Pulsadores de control

La centrífuga DG Spin dispone de tres Pulsadores (Ref. (4), Figura 1) para el
control de la centrifugación.

Presionando el Pulsador , se inicia el ciclo de centrifugación. Es condición
indispensable que la Tapa esté cerrada.

Presionando el Pulsador , se puede interrumpir la centrifugación antes que
finalice el tiempo establecido.

Presionando el Pulsador , la centrífuga DG Spin abre la Tapa que permite el
acceso a su interior (Ref. (3), Figura 1). Sólo se abrirá la Tapa si el motor está
completamente parado.

4.1.5 Panel de visualización

El Panel de visualización (Ref. (5), Figura 1) está formado por una pantalla que
informa al OPERADOR del tiempo restante hasta el final de la centrifugación y de la
velocidad de la misma. Adicionalmente, muestra las posibles situaciones de alarma.

En modo normal, el Panel de visualización muestra, a la derecha, el tiempo
restante hasta el fin de la centrifugación de la tanda mediante un contador digital
(Ref. (1), Figura 7) y una barra de progreso (Ref. (2), Figura 7). Ésta se irá
cumplimentando a medida que transcurra el tiempo de centrifugación.

La centrífuga DG Spin permite informar al OPERADOR de la velocidad de
centrifugación en rpm o en g. Para cambiar la configuración que aparece en
pantalla, consultar apartado 5.5 “Configuración del equipo”.

Situada en la parte inferior izquierda del Panel de visualización (Ref. (4), Figura
6), informa, mediante símbolos, de situaciones de alarma transcurridas durante la
inicialización o ejecución de la etapa de centrifugación. Los símbolos utilizados
son los que se describen a continuación:

4.1.6 Anilla de seguridad

La apertura de la centrífuga DG Spin en condiciones normales, cuando está
conectada, se realiza mediante el Pulsador . Sin embargo, en caso de necesidad
de apertura sin disponer de corriente eléctrica o en caso de malfuncionamiento del
cierre electromagnético de seguridad, la centrífuga DG Spin dispone de una Anilla
de seguridad en la parte trasera del equipo (Ref. (9), Figura 2) para la apertura
manual.
Dicha anilla está protegida mediante una tapa atornillada, y no debe utilizarse
salvo en caso de necesidad, retirando previamente la tapa mediante un
destornillador. Esta operación debe ser realizada preferentemente por un
TÉCNICO CUALIFICADO.
Durante el uso normal de la centrífuga DG Spin asegúrese que la anilla está
protegida por la citada tapa.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
Antes de la apertura de la centrífuga DG Spin
mediante la Anilla de seguridad, asegúrese de
que el Cabezal no está en movimiento.

¡PELIGRO!
No obstante, aunque la apertura de la tapa
desconectaría la corriente del motor, el
Cabezal podría estar aún en movimiento
debido a su inercia, con el consiguiente
peligro.

5 INSTALACIÓN

5.1 Actuación a la entrega

Este equipo puede ser instalado directamente por el OPERADOR o AUTORIDAD
RESPONSABLE.

5.2 Requisitos para la instalación

Los requisitos para la instalación del equipo serán
- Si el equipo ha sido almacenado en condiciones ambientales distintas a
las de trabajo, éste debe permanecer durante un tiempo no inferior a
una hora en las condiciones ambientales de trabajo antes de ser
enchufado.
- Condiciones ambientales: Ver apartado 3.1 “Especificaciones técnicas”.
- Requisitos de espacio: El equipo ocupa una superficie horizontal de
500mm de anchura, 600mm de profundidad (se incluye espacio para
conexión del cable de red).
- Dejar un espacio de seguridad de instalación adicional mínimo de 300
mm alrededor de la centrífuga. Ninguna persona ni ningún material
peligroso debe estar dentro de esta área mientras la centrífuga esté en
funcionamiento.
- No situar el equipo en exteriores.
- No situar el equipo en lugares donde pudiera mojarse.
- No situar el equipo sobre una superficie de material inflamable.
- No posicionar el equipo de forma que sea difícil accionar el Interruptor
general (Ref. (6), Figura 2).
- No permitir que el equipo o su cable de red entren en contacto con
superficies demasiado calientes al tacto.
- No colocar nada sobre el equipo.
- La instalación eléctrica a la que se va a conectar el equipo debe cumplir
con los requerimientos necesarios de alimentación, de consumo y
reglamentarios (incluida toma tierra).
- El enchufe debe disponer de conexión de toma de tierra.
- La superficie escogida para instalar la centrífuga DG Spin debe ser
perfectamente plana, horizontal y estable.

5.3 Desembalaje del equipo

Una vez seleccionado el lugar adecuado para la instalación, proceder a desembalar
el equipo, según las siguientes instrucciones:
• Abrir la caja por su parte superior.
• Extraer todas las protecciones y accesorios.
• Retirar la bolsa de protección que envuelve el equipo y situarlo en el
lugar escogido.
• Comprobar que se incluyen todos los elementos especificados en el
Packing list adjunto a éste.
• Comprobar que el equipo no ha sufrido daños durante el
almacenamiento y transporte.

5.4 Procedimiento de instalación

Para instalar la centrifuga DG Spin, proceder como se describe a continuación:
• Conectar el cable de red (Ref. (8), Figura 2) a la centrífuga y a la red
eléctrica.
• Accionar el Interruptor general (Ref. (6), Figura 2).
• Verificar que la Pantalla de Visualización muestra el tiempo de
centrifugación.

• Pulsar y retirar la protección interior que protege el Cabezal de la

centrífuga.
• Retirar el cabezal DG Spin Head de la Cámara de Centrifugación y
verificar que todas las Cestillas porta-tarjetas (Ref. (2), Figura 4) del
Cabezal estén perfectamente colocadas y sujetas por el correspondiente
pivote.
• Cerrar la tapa de la centrífuga presionando la parte central delantera de
la misma.
• Asegurar que la tapa está totalmente cerrada y accionar el Pulsador de
Inicio de centrifugación ( ).
• Comprobar que el Cabezal de centrifugación empieza a girar.

• Pasados 5 minutos pulsar de nuevo y comprobar que la velocidad

de centrifugación que aparece en el Panel de visualización está

comprendida en el rango de velocidades definido en 3.1

“Especificaciones técnicas”.
• Posteriormente, interrumpir la centrifugación manteniendo pulsado
unos segundos. La centrifuga emitirá unas señales acústicas
intermitentes que finalizarán con una continua que indica el fin de la
centrifugación.
• Esperar unos 30 segundos y comprobar que el Cabezal se ha detenido y
el Panel de visualización muestra de nuevo el tiempo de centrifugación
preestablecido.
La centrífuga DG Spin se suministra con un certificado de conformidad según el
cual la velocidad de centrifugación (990 rpm) ha sido verificada mediante
instrumentos calibrados por entidades acreditadas. La centrífuga DG Spin no
necesita ser reajustada durante la vida útil del mismo si se utiliza bajo condiciones
normales de funcionamiento.

5.5 Configuración del equipo

La centrífuga DG Spin tiene unos parámetros predefinidos que pueden ser
modificados por el OPERADOR. Los valores predefinidos son los siguientes:
- Volumen señal acústica: Alto
- Unidades de velocidad de centrifugación: rpm
- Fecha y hora: huso horario GMT.

NOTA:
Los parámetros de Fecha y Hora son utilizados
para mantener la trazabilidad, en un fichero
“Log file”, de información relevante y de
posibles incidencias ocurridas durante la etapa
de centrifugación. La accesibilidad de dicho
fichero y su utilización son para uso exclusivo
del Servicio Técnico.

Para modificar dichos parámetros acceder al Modo de configuración tal como se

describe a continuación:

• Con el equipo apagado, mantener pulsado el Pulsador y activar el

Interruptor general (Ref. (6), Figura 2).

La centrífuga DG Spin se inicializa en Modo configuración y permite

personalizar los parámetros descritos:
• En el Modo configuración, el Panel de visualización mostrará el
menú de configuración para la selección del volumen de señal
acústica.
La numeración mostrada corresponde a los siguientes
volúmenes:
- VOL 0: Desactivado
- VOL 1: Volumen medio
- VOL 2: Volumen alto

• Pulsar para modificar el valor al nivel deseado.

• Una vez seleccionado el nivel deseado, pulsar para pasar al

siguiente parámetro.
Automáticamente, el Panel de visualización mostrará el
siguiente menú de configuración: Selección de las unidades de
velocidad de centrifugación.
• Para cambiar las unidades, pulsar y seleccionar la unidad
deseada: rpm o g’s.
- SEL rpm: Velocidad de centrifugación en revoluciones por
minuto (rpm)
- SEL g’s: Fuerza relativa de centrifugación (g)

• Una vez seleccionado la unidad deseada, pulsar para pasar

al siguiente parámetro. Automáticamente, el Panel de
visualización mostrará intermitentemente los dígitos
correspondientes a la Fecha ([Link]) y Hora (HH:MM)
en los formatos indicados. Pulsar para modificar el valor de
cada campo y para pasar al campo siguiente. La fecha y hora
de la centrífuga están preprogramados respecto al sistema GMT,
y, por lo tanto, no debería modificarse.
• Una vez introducida la Fecha y Hora, guardar la configuración
manteniendo pulsado . El equipo emitirá una señal acústica
larga y continua indicando que la configuración ha sido
guardada con éxito.

Automáticamente, la centrífuga mostrará el Panel de visualización con

el tiempo de centrifugación preprogramado.

NOTA:
Si durante 15 segundos no se pulsa ningún
botón, se abandonará el Modo de
configuración sin grabar los cambios
realizados.

NOTA:
Para guardar la modificación de cualquier
parámetro (volumen, unidades, fecha y hora)
es necesario mantener pulsado hasta que
el equipo emita una señal acústica larga y
continua. Contrariamente, el OPERADOR
saldrá del Modo de configuración sin grabar
los cambios realizados.

6 PROCEDIMIENTO DE TRABAJO

¡ATENCIÓN!
No utilice la centrífuga DG Spin si no funciona
correctamente o si ha sufrido algún daño.

6.1 Ejecución de una tanda de centrifugación

Para utilizar correctamente la centrífuga DG Spin se debe seguir las siguientes
instrucciones:
• Accionar el Interruptor general (Ref. (6), Figura 2) y comprobar que el
Panel de visualización (Ref. (5), Figura 2) se enciende y muestra el
tiempo de centrifugación predefinido.

• Abrir la tapa pulsando y extraer el Cabezal de centrifugación tirando

verticalmente hacia arriba hasta liberar el eje de apoyo del mismo.
• Situar el Cabezal de centrifugación en una superficie plana.
• Introducir las tarjetas DG Gel a centrifugar en las Cestillas porta-
tarjetas (Ref. (2), Figura 4) del Cabezal.

¡ATENCIÓN!
El número de tarjetas DG Gel en el Cabezal
debe ser siempre un número par y su
distribución simétrica de forma que la carga
del motor quede equilibrada. Por ejemplo,
colocar la mitad de las tarjetas a centrifugar a
partir de la posición 1 del cabezal y la otra
mitad a partir de la posición 13.

¡ATENCIÓN!
Durante el procesado de las tarjetas, no se
deben dispensar las muestras y reactivos
directamente en las Cestillas porta-tarjetas.

¡ATENCIÓN!
La dirección de centrifugación es importante
para estandarizar el trabajo y uniformizar las
condiciones de centrifugación de las tarjetas.
En consecuencia, colocar las tarjetas DG Gel
de forma que el código de barras de las
mismas coincida con el código de barras
simbolizado en la cestilla porta-tarjetas, tal
como muestra la Figura 8.

NOTA:
La centrífuga DG Spin puede trabajar con
Cabezales intercambiables disponibles como
accesorios (Cód. 210364). La utilización de
más de un Cabezal permite mejorar el
rendimiento del equipo. Es decir, el OPERADOR
puede preparar un segundo Cabezal con nuevas
tarjetas a centrifugar mientras esté en curso la
centrifugación de una tanda previa.
Para la utilización de distintos Cabezales, no
es necesario ninguna instalación ni
configuración especial.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
No deben utilizarse cabezales de
centrifugación distintos a los especificados, ya
que puede causar deterioro y disfunción del
instrumento.

• Una vez distribuidas las tarjetas en el Cabezal, colocarlo en el interior

de la centrífuga.
• Bajar la Tapa presionando la parte delantera central asegurando un
cierre correcto.

• Pulsar para iniciar la tanda de centrifugación y activar el

temporizador.
Una vez finalizada la etapa de centrifugación, el Cabezal se detiene
automáticamente y la centrífuga DG Spin muestra el temporizador
parpadeando y el Avisador acústico activado.

• Presionar para abrir la Tapa.

• Extraer inmediatamente el Cabezal del interior de la centrífuga.
Para llevar a cabo una nueva tanda de centrifugación, cargar el Cabezal con las
nuevas tarjetas y cerrar la Tapa. Automáticamente, el temporizador mostrará el
tiempo de centrifugación preprogramado.

NOTA:
Una vez terminada una tanda de centrifugación
no es posible empezar otra mientras no se
abra la tapa. Una vez abierta, el OPERADOR
debe asegurarse de retirar las tarjetas
centrifugadas y evitar, de este modo, que
puedan ser centrifugadas dos veces.

6.2 Visualización Velocidad de centrifugación

La centrífuga DG Spin ofrece la posibilidad de visualizar momentáneamente la
velocidad o fuerza en que se está llevando a cabo la centrifugación. Para ello,
pulsar o durante la etapa de centrifugación.

Tal como muestra la Figura 9, el Panel de visualización mostrará, a la izquierda

(Ref. (1)), la velocidad de centrifugación del Cabezal en este momento.
Paralelamente, la pantalla sigue mostrando, a la derecha (Ref. (2)), el
temporizador y la barra de progreso.

6.3 Interrupción de la centrifugación

Si, por algún motivo, es necesario interrumpir la centrifugación antes que finalice
el tiempo establecido, mantener pulsado unos segundos. La centrífuga DG
Spin emitirá unas señales acústicas intermitentes que finalizarán con una continua
para indicar la interrupción de la centrifugación.
En este momento, el Panel de visualización mostrará intermitentemente el tiempo
que indicaba en el momento en que se detuvo el temporizador y se activará, en el
Área de avisos, el indicador de Tiempo de centrifugación erróneo ( ). Para
silenciar el Avisador acústico, pulsar o .

Para llevar a cabo una nueva tanda de centrifugación, abrir la Tapa pulsando ,
cargar el Cabezal con las nuevas tarjetas y cerrar la Tapa. Automáticamente, se
apagará el indicador y el temporizador mostrará el tiempo de centrifugación
preprogramado.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
Si se interrumpe la centrifugación, las tarjetas
deben ser invalidadas.
Sólo se pueden obtener resultados fiables si las
tarjetas se someten a una única centrifugación
completa e ininterrumpida.

7 MANTENIMIENTO
El mantenimiento de la centrífuga DG Spin incluye únicamente la limpieza y
descontaminación de la misma.

7.1 Plan de mantenimiento

El mantenimiento es un conjunto de operaciones realizadas a intervalos regulares
destinadas a preservar la funcionalidad de la centrífuga DG Spin.
Como norma general, y siempre que no se dé ninguna irregularidad en el
funcionamiento del equipo, el Plan de mantenimiento que se debe seguir es el
siguiente:

Durante los procesos de limpieza y/o
descontaminación el OPERADOR debe usar
guantes protectores.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
Antes de los procedimientos de limpieza y
descontaminación, deben retirarse todas las
tarjetas del interior del equipo.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
Los procesos de limpieza de las superficies
del equipo deben realizarse siempre con el
equipo desenchufado de la red eléctrica.

7.1.1 Procedimientos de limpieza

La centrífuga DG Spin ha sido fabricada con materiales de la mejor calidad. Sin
embargo, muestras biológicas, soluciones salinas, disolventes ácidos o alcalinos
deben ser eliminados de la superficie exterior e interior antes que éstos puedan
deteriorarla.
La limpieza de las superficies externas debe llevarse a cabo periódicamente con un
paño humedecido con un detergente suave.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
Tenga precaución que no penetre solución de
limpieza por las aperturas del equipo.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
No desmontar el equipo en ningún caso. Si
hubiera penetrado líquido en su interior, la
operación de limpieza y descontaminación
debe ser efectuada por un TÉCNICO
CUALIFICADO. Llamar al Servicio Técnico
autorizado más próximo.

7.1.2 Descontaminación del equipo

¡PELIGRO!
Cada parte del equipo que pueda estar en
contacto con muestras de sangre, suero u
cualquier otro líquido biológico, debe tratarse
como potencialmente contaminada.

Para evitar cualquier riesgo de infección, es importante efectuar una

descontaminación del instrumento antes de realizar ciertas operaciones con el
mismo.
La descontaminación del equipo se debe realizar mensualmente o en los siguientes
casos:
- Después de vertidos, fugas, etc. de líquidos potencialmente
contaminantes.
- Preparación del equipo para su transporte o almacenamiento.
- Antes de la intervención del Servicio Técnico.
- Desecho del equipo.
Para descontaminar el equipo, proceder como se indica a continuación:

• Abrir la Tapa de la centrífuga pulsando en y extraer el Cabezal de

centrifugación.
• Apagar el equipo, desconectarlo de la red eléctrica.
• En caso de derrames, absorber el líquido vertido con un material
absorbente desechable (por ejemplo, toallitas de papel, un bloc de gasas
o pañuelos de papel).
• Proceder a la descontaminación de las superficies (Cámara, Tapas,
Cabezal, Cestillas, etc.) utilizando una solución acuosa de hipoclorito
sódico al 0.5 % (v/v). Para ello, limpiar las superficies con toallitas o
torundas desechables empapadas con el desinfectante de forma que
queden totalmente mojadas.
• Absorber la solución desinfectante con un material desechable.
• Enjuagar la superficie con un detergente suave con agua con la
finalidad de eliminar el olor y los componentes químicos nocivos
residuales.

• Secar la superficie.
• Eliminar todos los materiales contaminados utilizados durante la
descontaminación en un contenedor para residuos biológicos.

¡ADVERTENCIA!
Antes de utilizar cualquier producto de
limpieza o descontaminación diferente a los
recomendados por el fabricante, la
AUTORIDAD RESPONSABLE deberá verificar
con éste que los métodos propuestos no van a
dañar el equipo.

NOTA:
Los procedimientos anteriormente descritos
no aseguran que el equipo quede totalmente
descontaminado, pero reduce al mínimo el
riesgo de contaminación.

[Link] Líquidos descontaminantes

Durante la manipulación de estos líquidos deben seguirse las siguientes
recomendaciones:
- Instrucciones de utilización correspondientes
- Normativas de seguridad del laboratorio
- Legislación local vigente de prevención

¡PELIGRO!
La solución de hipoclorito sódico es corrosiva,
irritante para la piel y los ojos y tóxico por
inhalación, absorción o ingestión.

8 PROCEDIMIENTO DE CUALIFICACIÓN DE LA OPERACIÓN (OQ)

La centrífuga DG Spin dispone de dos bases de tiempos independientes no
ajustables controlados por el propio programa de la centrífuga. Dado que la
velocidad ha sido calibrada por el propio fabricante, si no se activa ninguna alarma
de funcionamiento (ver apartados 12.1 “Avisos o Incidencias” y 12.2 “Mensajes de
error”), está garantizado el correcto funcionamiento de la centrífuga DG Spin
durante toda la vida útil sin necesidad de calibración.
No obstante, el procedimiento que se describe a continuación tiene como objetivo
proporcionar un método para aquellos laboratorios que bajo un sistema de
gestión de calidad, deban demostrar, periódicamente, que la centrífuga DG Spin
funciona bajo especificaciones.
El procedimiento de Cualificación de la Operación (OQ) de la centrífuga DG Spin
consiste en comprobar el correcto funcionamiento de los siguientes parámetros:
- Velocidad de centrifugación
- Sistema de desequilibrio

8.1 Materiales necesarios

Para la cualificación de la operación de la centrífuga DG Spin se requieren los
siguientes materiales:
- Tacómetro óptico calibrado
- 24 tarjetas DG Gel
Para garantizar la veracidad de las medidas estos materiales deben ser calibrados
utilizando instrumentos controlados regularmente con materiales trazables a
patrones de referencia primarios o secundarios.

NOTA:
Es posible la utilización de cualquier tacómetro
siempre que cumpla con las siguientes
especificaciones:
Tacómetro: óptico
División de escala (rpm): ≤1 rpm
Rango (rpm): 1.00 - 99,999 rpm
Máxima incertidumbre permitida: ± 3 rpm
Distancia de detección: < 35 cm con haz de
luz roja visible.

NOTA:
Se recomienda una calibración periódica de 1
año o la recomendada por el fabricante del
tacómetro, en caso de que la calibración de
éste tenga un periodo de validez inferior.

8.2 Procedimiento de cualificación de la velocidad de centrifugación

Para verificar que la centrífuga DG Spin cumple con las especificaciones de
velocidad descritas en el apartado 3.1 “Especificaciones técnicas”, se debe proceder
como se describe a continuación:
• Conectar la centrífuga DG Spin a la red eléctrica y accionar el
Interruptor general (Ref. (6), Figura 2).
• Comprobar que el Panel de visualización (Ref. (5), Figura 1) se
enciende y el temporizador indica el tiempo de centrifugación
predefinido.
• Abrir la Tapa de la centrífuga DG Spin y extraer el Cabezal.
• Colocar 24 tarjetas DG Gel en las correspondientes Cestillas porta-tarjetas.
• Incorporar el Cabezal a la centrifuga y cerrar la Tapa.

• Pulsar para iniciar una tanda de centrifugación.

• Esperar 20 segundos para asegurar la estabilización de la velocidad de
centrifugación.
• Sujetar verticalmente el tacómetro óptico sobre la Tapa de la
centrífuga, apuntando la marca reflectante del Cabezal que muestra la
Ref. (1) de la Figura 10.

• Comprobar que la velocidad que marca el Tacómetro está

comprendida en el rango de velocidades definido en 3.1
“Especificaciones técnicas”.
• Adicionalmente, comprobar que la velocidad que marca el Panel de
visualización cuando se pulsa , aunque puede no coincidir
exactamente con la velocidad que marca el Tacómetro, también está
comprendida en el rango de velocidades definido en
3.1“Especificaciones técnicas”.

• Detener la centrifugación manteniendo pulsado unos segundos

hasta escuchar la señal acústica continua.
• Abrir la Tapa de la centrifuga, extraer el Cabezal y de él las tarjetas.
• Colocar de nuevo el Cabezal vacío en la centrífuga y cerrar la Tapa.
La verificación de la velocidad de centrifuga implica la verificación de la base de
tiempos del equipo y, por lo tanto, no es necesario la verificación independiente
del temporizador.

NOTA:
La aceptación del resultado permite asegurar
el correcto funcionamiento de la centrífuga DG
Spin por lo que respecta al control de
velocidad y de la temporización.
En caso contrario, repetir el procedimiento. Si
después de realizar una nueva verificación, los
resultados no son aceptables, contactar con
su Servicio Técnico.

8.3 Procedimiento de cualificación del sistema de control de desequilibrio

La centrifuga DG Spin dispone de un sistema que interrumpe la centrifugación si
se produce algún desequilibrio en el Cabezal durante la centrifugación. El sensor
dispone además, de un sistema de autoverificación monitorizado por el programa;
que en caso de fallo del sensor, la centrífuga se detendría e indicaría la presencia de
un error del sistema.
Para verificar que este sistema detector de desequilibrio mantiene su
funcionalidad, se debe proceder como se describe a continuación:
• Abrir la Tapa de la centrífuga DG Spin y colocar 2 tarjeta contiguas.
• Cerrar la Tapa.

• Iniciar una tanda de centrifugación pulsando en .

• Comprobar que se interrumpe la centrifugación y que en el Área de
avisos del Panel de visualización se activa el indicador de Desequilibrio
durante la centrifugación ( )

NOTA:
La interrupción de la centrifugación permite
asegurar el correcto funcionamiento de la
centrífuga DG Spin por lo que respecta al
control de desequilibrio. En caso contrario,
contactar con su Servicio Técnico.

9 TRANSPORTE Y ALMACENAMIENTO

¡ADVERTENCIA!
El equipo debe ser descontaminado antes de
ser transportado y/o almacenado.

Si la centrífuga DG Spin debe ser almacenada por un periodo de tiempo largo, se

recomienda que se empaquete como para su transporte.
Las condiciones ambientales del almacenaje deben ser las especificadas en el
apartado 3.1 “Especificaciones técnicas”.
Los requerimientos de espacio para almacenar el equipo son:
- Tamaño: 320 mm de altura x 635 mm de profundidad x 530 mm de
anchura (incluido embalaje).
- Peso aproximado: 18 Kg

¡ADVERTENCIA!
Utilizar sólo el embalaje original para el
transporte del equipo.

10 DESECHO DEL EQUIPO

Para desechar la centrífuga DG Spin se debe eliminar todos los posibles restos de
muestras y reactivos, así como limpiar y descontaminar totalmente sus superficies.
Una vez descontaminada, se debe enviar a un centro autorizado de tratamiento de
residuos electrónicos.

¡PELIGRO!
Este instrumento debe ser desmontado sólo
por especialistas autorizados.

¡ATENCIÓN!
Cuando el instrumento haya llegado al final de
su vida útil, tenga en cuenta que, para
desecharlo, deberá seguir los procedimientos
de la legislación local vigente.

En el territorio de la UE, la centrífuga DG Spin está considerada como residuo y

está sujeto a recogida selectiva bajo la Directiva Europea 2002/96/CE relativa a
residuos de aparatos eléctricos y electrónicos (RAEE).
Para desechar el equipo contacte directamente con el distribuidor.

11 GARANTÍA
Las condiciones de la garantía quedan establecidas en documentos aparte. Para
más información, contactar con su distribuidor.
La garantía no cubre:
- Los daños producidos por su puesta en marcha y funcionamiento en
entornos que contravengan las instrucciones contempladas en las
Instrucciones de Utilización.
- Los daños producidos por accidentes, negligencias o incumplimiento
de las Instrucciones de Utilización.
- Los daños producidos por causas de fuerza mayor (fenómenos
atmosféricos, geológicos, etc.).
- Los daños causados por una manipulación indebida, incluido la
realizada por personal técnico no autorizado por Diagnostic Grifols,
S.A.
- Las partes de plástico o goma, así como esmaltes y pinturas que se
hayan deteriorado por golpes o uso, excepto si existe realmente una
deficiencia en la fabricación.
- El Cabezal de centrifugación, salvo defecto de fabricación.

12 SOLUCIÓN DE INCIDENCIAS
Durante el normal funcionamiento de la centrífuga DG Spin pueden aparecer
ciertos avisos e incidencias que el OPERADOR puede resolver sin la ayuda del
Servicio Técnico especializado.

12.1 Avisos o Incidencias

MENSAJE DESCRIPCIÓN COMPROBACIONES

Desequilibrio El equipo ha detectado un desequilibrio
durante la durante la centrifugación y la ha
centrifugación interrumpido. Abrir la Tapa y comprobar
que:
- El número de tarjetas sea un número
par.
- Las tarjetas estén distribuidas de
forma simétrica en el Cabezal.
- Las tarjetas estén bien colocadas
dentro de las Cestilla porta-tarjetas.
- El Cabezal de centrifugación esté en
perfecto estado, es decir, comprobar la
ausencia de golpes, rayadas profundas,
etc.
- El Cabezal de centrifugación tenga
todas las Cestillas porta-tarjetas en su
posición.
- El Cabezal esté bien colocado en el
correspondiente eje.
Una vez corregida la causa que provocaba
el desequilibro, cerrar la Tapa, pulsar
y comprobar que desaparece el indicador
de Desequilibrio del Panel de visualización
y empieza la centrifugación.
Tiempo de El tiempo de centrifugación de la tanda en
centrifugación ejecución ha sido distinto al
erróneo preestablecido. Adicionalmente, el
temporizador se muestra en intermitencia.
Ello puede ser debido a:
- Una interrupción de la tanda de
centrifugación por parte del
OPERADOR, según se describe en el
apartado 6.3 “Interrupción de la

centrifugación“. El temporizador
mostrará, parpadeando, el valor que
indicaba en el momento en que se
detuvo.
- Un corte en el suministro eléctrico que
haya interrumpido la tanda de
centrifugación. El temporizador
muestra, parpadeando, el valor que
indicaba en el momento de la
interrupción y emitirá unos sonidos
cortos.
Apretar cualquier Pulsador para parar el
Avisador acústico y dejar el temporizador
preparado para una nueva tanda de
centrifugación.
Tapa Abierta Por seguridad, el equipo está diseñado de
forma que no permita llevar a cabo una
tanda de centrifugación con la puerta
abierta.
Si la centrífuga está conectada se muestra
este icono siempre que la Tapa esté
abierta. El icono desaparece cuando se
cierra la tapa. En caso contrario asegúrese
que la Tapa está bien cerrada y si no se
corrige la situación deshabilite el equipo y
contacte con el Servicio técnico.

Si cuando se pulsa , el indicador de

Tapa abierta se muestra parpadeando,
comprobar que no exista, en la centrífuga,
una tanda de centrifugación previa sin
descargar.
Para ello, abrir la Tapa, extraer el Cabezal,
descargar las tarjetas y proceder a la carga
de la nueva tanda. Pulsar de nuevo y
comprobar que la centrifugación se lleva a
cabo con normalidad.
Centrifugación fuera Se ha detectado un error de velocidad
de márgenes durante la centrifugación.
Abrir la Tapa, extraer el Cabezal y
desechar las tarjetas. Apagar la centrífuga
y reiniciar de nuevo.
Si el error se reproduce, contactar con el
Servicio Técnico.

Avisar al Servicio Si la centrífuga detecta un desajuste en su

Técnico funcionamiento que no puede ser
solucionado por el OPERADOR, activa el
correspondiente aviso luminoso.
En este caso, apagar la centrífuga y
reiniciar de nuevo. Si el aviso persiste,
contactar con el Servicio Técnico.
Consumo excesivo El equipo ha detectado consumo excesivo
del motor del motor durante la ejecución de la tanda
de centrifugación. El equipo interrumpe la
centrifugación y activa el indicador
acústico. Pulsar o para
desactivarlo.
Abrir la Tapa, extraer el Cabezal y
desechar las tarjetas. Apagar la centrífuga
y reiniciar de nuevo.
Si el error se reproduce contactar con el
Servicio Técnico.
El sensor de El equipo ha detectado un error en el

el indicador de Tapa abierta en modo
parpadeo y el indicador acústico. Pulsar
o para desactivarlo.
Apagar la centrífuga y descargar las
tarjetas de su interior utilizando la Anilla
de seguridad, tal como se describe en el
apartado 4.1.6. “Anilla de seguridad”.
Reiniciar de nuevo y si el error se
reproduce, contactar con el Servicio
Técnico.

12.2 Mensajes de error

Además de las alertas y errores mencionados, el equipo puede detectar otras
condiciones de error. En estos casos, el equipo realizará las siguientes acciones:
- Interrumpir la centrifugación en curso.

- Ignorar los pulsadores , y .

- Activar el Avisador acústico con sonidos cortos.

- Activar el indicador .
- Mostrar en pantalla una E con el correspondiente código de error.

¡ATENCIÓN!
Si la centrífuga DG Spin muestra un mensaje
de error en el panel de visualización, reiniciar
el equipo. Si el problema persiste, contactar
con el Servicio Técnico.

12.3 Avisador acústico

La centrífuga DG Spin dispone de un Avisador acústico programable a tres niveles
y que, de estar configurado, se activa, con el volumen seleccionado por el
OPERADOR, en las siguientes situaciones:
- Una vez finalizada la tanda de centrifugación en curso. Se activará el
indicador acústico con un sonido largo y continuo.
- Cuando se interrumpe una tanda de centrifugación manteniendo
pulsado . La centrífuga DG Spin emite tres sonidos cortos y uno
largo indicando que, en este momento, se ha detenido la centrifugación.
El temporizador mostrará, parpadeando, el valor que indicaba en el
momento de la interrupción.
- Tras la interrupción del suministro eléctrico durante una tanda de
centrifugación. En el momento que vuelva a ser operativo, la centrífuga
DG Spin emitirá sonidos cortos y el temporizador mostrará,
parpadeando, el valor que indicaba en el momento de la interrupción.
- Si tras finalizar una tanda de centrifugación no se ha abierto la Tapa
para descargar las tarjetas ya centrifugadas y se pulsa de nuevo
para iniciar una nueva tanda centrifugación, el sistema emite unos
sonidos cortos y el aviso de Tapa abierta parpadeando. Para iniciar una
nueva centrifugación, es necesario abrir la Tapa.
- Ante cualquier error transcurrido durante la centrifugación:
Desequilibrios, Velocidad de centrifugación fuera de márgenes, mal
funcionamiento de los sensores de desequilibrio, fallo en el sistema de
apertura de Tapa, consumo excesivo del motor, etc., la centrífuga DG

Spin emite unos sonidos cortos y el indicador correspondiente

encendido.

¡ATENCIÓN!

Para parar el avisador acústico, pulsar o

, según convenga. Si el avisador acústico
se mantiene, contactar con el Servicio Técnico

1 INTRODUCTION

THIS EQUIPMENT IS AN IN VITRO DIAGNOSTIC MEDICAL DEVIDE

(IVD).

These Instructions for Use, which are intended for the OPERATORS of the
DG Spin incubator, contain all the information that is necessary for safely and
adequately working with the instrument.
Please carefully read all this information before attempting to work with the
equipment, especially on the maintenance section, the suggestions for correct use
and the information about contaminating liquids.
If you have any doubt please contact the manufacturer or corresponding
distributor before starting any operation.
These Instructions for Use should be accessible to all the personnel who work with
the instrument.

1.1 Intended use

The centrifuge DG Spin enables centrifugation of DG Gel cards.

1.2 Purpose, limitations and operators training

1.2.1 Purpose
The DG Spin centrifuge has been especially designed to carry out centrifugation of
a maximum of 24 DG Gel cards in one batch. Therefore, the predefined
parameters in the instrument (speed and time) are those required to work with
this type of card.

1.2.2 Limitations
The DG Spin centrifuge is only prepared for the centrifugation of DG Gel cards as
described in section 1.1 "Intended use", and should not be used for any other type
of test different to those for which it was designed.

1.2.3 Training
Use of the DG Spin centrifuge does not require specific training beyond that
established by the laboratory itself.

2 SAFETY INFORMATION

2.1 Important safety instructions

The following indications are directly related to the safety of the equipment:

DANGER!
Misuse of the equipment can impair the
protection provided by itself.

DANGER!
To avoid risk of electric shock, this equipment
should only be connected to a supply main with
protective earth.

DANGER!
This equipment works with substances that
carry a chemical or biological risk. The
established regulations for working in
laboratories in relation to the use of suitable
gloves or other personal protective means
should be followed.

DANGER!
In the event of any spillage into the equipment,
it must be isolated from the mains supply,
cleaned up and decontaminated. The instrument
must be only disassembled by a QUALIFIED
TECHNICIAN and it must not be connected
again until it has been fully inspected by the
QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN.

WARNING!
This equipment only must be used by the
RESPONSIBLE AUTHORITY, OPERATORS and
QUALIFIED TECHNICIANS.

WARNING!
Electromagnetic compatibility and electrical
safety tests have been performed using the
cord supplied by the manufacturer. However, if
it is necessary to use another cord, be sure that
the new cord meets the following
specifications:
Cable type: Flexible cable with insulation and
PVC cover with 3 conductors (neutral, live and
earth).
Cord length: 2 m.
Conductor section: 1 mm2 or higher.
Connector type: For IEC inlet. Connector for
class I appliances.
Plug type: Plug type used in the country where
the equipment is installed and with earth
connection.
Connector, cable and plug must comply
electrical safety requirements applicable in your
country.

CAUTION!
Using cables other than those specified may
result in increased electromagnetic emissions
and/or decreased immunity of the equipment.

Basic safety precautions should always be
taken including those indicated in section 2.3

installing the equipment, the rules of 5.2

2.2 Equipment labelling

(3) Biological risk level

Located on the lateral part of the Centrifugation chamber, it indicates and warns
of the biohazard caused by possible remaining substances deposited on the
surface.

2.3 Read before use

- Use the equipment only for the purposes described in the Instructions
for Use.
- Unless specifically instructed to do so by the Instructions for Use, do
not drop or put anything into any opening in the equipment.
- Do not use the equipment if it is not working properly, or if it has
suffered any damage. Examples of defects typically include:
- Visible damage caused by dropping the equipment.
- Visible damage caused by liquid spillage.
- Visible damage caused by subjection to prolonged storage and
under unfavourable conditions or by subjection to severe
transport stresses.
- Damage to the flexible supplies cord or its plug.
- Do not use the equipment in hazardous atmosphere, or with hazardous
materials for which the equipment has not been designed.
- Do not use the equipment in the presence of inflammable gases or
volatile products.
- Do not use accessories which are not supplied or recommended by the
manufacturer.
- Do not introduce inflammable, explosive or chemical materials that
interact vigorously into the centrifuge.
- Do not lean on the centrifuge.
- The equipment may only be disassembled by a QUALIFIED
TECHNICIAN, either for internal cleaning and/or for repairing. Before
disassembling, the equipment must be unplugged.
- Before using any cleaning or decontaminating method described in
chapter 7 “Maintenance”, the equipment must be unplugged.

4.1 General description of the centrifuge

4.1.1 Centrifugation chamber

The Centrifugation chamber (Ref. (1), Figure 3) is the centrifuge area designed to
house the removable DG Spin Head, contain any dirt caused by possible
fortuitous spillages or leaks and facilitate its cleaning.

The Centrifugation chamber also has a protective cover (Ref. (3), Figure 3) that
protects the motor.

4.1.2 DG Spin head

The DG Spin head is a circular support with 24 positions numbered with Card
holders (Ref. (2), Figure 4) to place the DG Gel cards for their centrifugation.

The DG Spin Head is removable and interchangeable with the aim of increasing
the comfort of the OPERATOR when loading and unloading the cards. To remove
it, lift it vertically by means of the Knob (Ref. (1), Figure 4) until it is released from
its Lean axle (Ref. (2), Figure 4).
To introduce the DG Spin Head again into the centrifuge, the Crosshead of the
Lean axle has a magnetic system that facilitates correct positioning of the DG Spin
Head.

4.1.3 Centrifuge cover

The DG Spin centrifuge has a safety transparent cover (Ref. (3), Figure 1) with a
hinge and an electromagnetic safety closure.

4.1.4 Control buttons

The DG Spin centrifuge has three buttons (Ref.(4), Figure 1) for control of
centrifugation.

Pressing the button starts the centrifugation cycle. It is essential that the
Cover to be closed.

Pressing the button centrifugation may be stopped before the established time
ends.

Pressing the button, the Cover to get to inside (Ref. (3), Figure 1) of the
DG Spin centrifuge opens. The Cover will open only if the motor is completely
stopped.

4.1.5 Display
The Display (Ref. (5), Figure 1) informs the OPERATOR of the remaining time to
the end of centrifugations and speed. It also informs of possible error situations.

In normal mode, the Display shows on the right, the time remaining up to end of
centrifugation of the batch by means of a digital counter (Ref. (1), Figure 7) and a
progress bar (Ref. (2), Figure 7). The Progress bar will be filled in as the pre-
programmed time elapses.

The DG Spin centrifuge informs the OPERATOR of the centrifugation speed in
rpm or in g. To change the configuration that appears on the screen consult
section 5.5 “Configuration of the equipment”.

This is located on the left lower part of the Display (Ref. (4), Figure 6) and
informs, by means of symbols, of alarm situations during initialisation or
centrifugation batch. These symbols are described below.

4.1.6 Security ring

The DG Spin centrifuge is open, under normal conditions (plugged),by pressing
the button . However, if it is necessary to open it in case of power cut or
malfunction of the electromagnetic security closure, the DG Spin centrifuge has a
Security ring in the rear part of the equipment (Ref. (9), Figure 2) for manual
opening.
This ring is protected by means of a screwed lid and should not be used unless
needed. The lid should be removed with a screwdriver beforehand.
The Security ring should be preferentially carried out by a QUALIFIED
TECHNICIAN.

During normal use of the DG Spin centrifuge, ensure that the ring is protected by
the aforementioned lid.

WARNING!
Before use the Security ring, check that the
centrifuge is unplugged and the DG Spin
Head is not moving.

DANGER!
The use of the Security ring disconnects
immediately the motor. However, take in
mind that the DG Spin Head can still move.

5 INSTALLATION

5.1 Action upon delivery

This equipment may be installed directly by the OPERATOR or RESPONSIBLE
AUTHORITY.

5.2 Installation requirements

The requirements for the place where the equipment is to be installed are as
follows:
- If the equipment has been stored in environmental conditions different
from work conditions, it should be kept for at least one hour under
environmental work conditions before being plugged in.
- Environmental conditions: See section 3.1 “Technical specifications”.
- Space requirements: The equipment occupies a horizontal area of
width 500 mm and 600 mm in depth (includes space for connection of
the mains cord connection).
- Leave a safety space for additional installation of at least 300 mm
around the centrifuge. No person or any dangerous material should be
within this area whilst the centrifuge is in operation.
- Do not place the equipment out of doors.
- Do not place the equipment where it could get wet.
- Do not place the equipment on an inflammable material surface.
- Do not position the equipment so that it is difficult to operate the
mains switch (Ref. (6), Figure 2).
- Do not let the equipment or its flexible cord come into contact with
surfaces which are too hot to touch.
- Do not place anything on top of the equipment.
- The electrical installation to which the equipment will be connected
should comply with the necessary requirements of power supply,
consumption and regulations (including protective earth).
- The plug should have a protective earth.
- The surface chosen to install the DG Spin centrifuge should be perfectly
flat, horizontal and stable.

5.3 Unpacking the equipment

Once the appropriate place is selected for installation, unpack the equipment
according to the following instructions:
• Open the upper part of the box.
• Remove all protections and accessories.
• Remove the protection bag and place the equipment in the chosen
position.
• Verify that all elements specified in the attached Packing list are
included.
• Check that the equipment is not damaged due to the storage and
transport.

5.4 Installation procedure

To install the DG Spin centrifuge, proceed as follows:
• Connects the mains cord (Ref. (3), Figure 2) to the centrifuge and the
mains.
• Switch on the Main switch (Ref. (6), Figure 2).
• Verify that the Display shows the centrifugation time.

• Press and remove the internal protection that protects the

DG Spin Head.
• Remove the DG Spin Head from the Centrifugation chamber and
verify that all the Card holders (Ref. (2), Figure 4) of the DG Spin Head
are perfectly placed and held by the corresponding pivot.
• Close the Centrifuge cover by pressing the front central part.
• Ensure that the Cover is completely closed and press the Centrifugation
starting button ( ).
• Verify that the DG Spin Head starts to rotate.

• After 5 minutes, press again and verify that the centrifugation

speed that appears in the Display is within the speed range defined in
3.1"Technical specifications".

• Later on, stop centrifugation by keeping pressed for a few seconds.

The centrifuge will emit some intermittent acoustic signals that will end
in a continuous signal that indicates the centrifugation stop.

• Wait for 30 seconds and verify that the DG Spin Head has stopped and
the Display again shows the pre-established centrifugation time.
The DG Spin centrifuge is supplied with a conformity certificate stating that the
centrifugation speed (990 rpm) has been verified using instruments calibrated by
accredited entities. The DG Spin centrifuge does not need to be readjusted during
its useful life if it is used under normal working conditions.

5.5 Configuration of the equipment

The DG Spin centrifuge has some predefined parameters that may be modified by
the OPERATOR. Predefined values are the following:
- Acoustic signal volume: High
- Centrifugation speed units: rpm
- Date and time: GMT time zone.

NOTE:
The Date and Time parameters are used to
maintain traceability in a "log file" with relevant
information and possible incidences that have
occurred during the centrifugation phase.
Accessibility to this file and its use are for the
exclusive use of the authorised Technical
Service.

To modify these parameters access the Configuration mode as described below:

• With the equipment switched off, keep the button pressed down
and switch on the Main switch (Ref. (6), Figure 2).
The DG Spin centrifuge is initialised in Configuration mode and
enables personalising the parameters described:
• In Configuration mode the Display will show the configuration
menu for the selection of the acoustic signal volume.
The numeration shown corresponds to the following volumes:
- VOL 0: Deactivated
- VOL 1: Medium level volume
- VOL 2: High volume

• Press to modify the value to the required level.

• Once the required level has been selected, press to move

onto the next parameter.
The Display will automatically show the following configuration
menu: Selection of centrifugation speed units.
• To change the units, press and select the required unit: rpm
or g's.
- SEL rpm: Centrifugation speed in revolutions per minute
(rpm)
- SEL g’s: Relative centrifugation force (g)

• Once the required level has been selected, press to move

onto the next parameter. Automatically, the Display will show
flickering digits corresponding to the Date ([Link]) and
the Time (HH:MM). Press to modify the value of each field
and to move onto the next field. The date and time of the
centrifuge are pre-programmed with respect to the GMT system
and therefore should not be modified.
• Once the date and time has been introduced, save the
configuration by keeping pressed down. The equipment will
emit a long and continuous acoustic signal indicating that the
configuration has been successfully saved.
The DG Spin centrifuge will automatically show the Display with the
programmed pre-centrifugation time

NOTE:
If no button is pressed for 15 seconds, changes
are not recorded in the Configuration mode.

To save the modification of any parameter
(volume, units, date and time) it is necessary to
keep pressed down until the indicator
emits the long and continuous acoustic signal.
Otherwise, the OPERATOR will leave the
Configuration mode without recording the

6 OPERATING PROCEDURE

CAUTION!
Do not use the DG Spin centrifuge if it does not
work correctly or has been damaged.

6.1 Execution of a centrifugation batch

To correctly use the DG Spin centrifuge the following instructions should be
followed:
• Activate the Main switch (Ref. (6), Figure 2) and verify that the Display
(Ref. (5), Figure 1) is switched on and shows the predefined
centrifugation time.

• Open the Cover by pressing and remove the DG Spin Head by

pulling up vertically until it is released from the Lean axle.
• Place the DG Spin Head on a flat surface.
• Place DG Gel cards in the Card holders (Ref. (2), Figure 4) of the DG
Spin Head to be centrifuged.

CAUTION!
The number of DG Gel cards in the DG Spin
Head should always be an even number and
distributed symmetrically in such a way that the
motor load is balanced. For example, place half
of the cards to be centrifuged starting from
position 1 of the Head and the other half starting
from position 13.

CAUTION!
During the cards processing, samples and
reagents should not be directly dispensed into
the Card holders.

CAUTION!
The direction of centrifugation is important to
standardise the work and make centrifugation
conditions of the cards uniform.
Consequently, place the DG Gel cards in such a
way that the bar code coincides with the
barcode symbolised in the Card holder as
shown by Figure 8.

NOTE:
The DG Spin centrifuge can work with
interchangeable DG Spin Head available as
accessory (Code 210364). The use of more
than one DG Spin Head enables improving the
performance of the equipment. In other words,
the OPERATOR may prepare a second DG Spin
Head with new cards whilst centrifugation of a
prior batch is in progress.
For the use of different DG Spin Head, no
special installation or configuration is
necessary.

WARNING!
Centrifugation heads different to those specified
should not be used as they may cause
deterioration and malfunction of the instrument.

• Once the cards have been distributed in the DG Spin Head, place it
inside the centrifuge.
• Close the Cover by pressing the central front part thereby ensuring
correct closure.

• Press to start the centrifugation batch and activate the timer.

Once the centrifugation has finished, the DG Spin Head stops
automatically and the DG Spin centrifuge shows the timer flashing and
Acoustic alarm activated.

• Press to open the Cover.

•Immediately remove the DG Spin Head from the inside of the
centrifuge.
To carry out a new centrifugation batch, load the DG Spin Head with the new
cards and close the Cover. The timer will automatically show the pre-programmed
centrifugation time.

NOTE:
Once a centrifugation batch has finished it is not
possible to start another whilst the Cover has
not been opened. Once opened, the OPERATOR
should remove the centrifuged cards to avoid
centrifuging them twice.

6.2 Visualisation of the centrifugation speed

The DG Spin centrifuge allows momentarily seeing the speed or force of the
centrifugation. To do that, press or during the centrifugation batch.
As shown by Figure 9, the Display will show, on the left (Ref. (1)), the
centrifugation speed of the DG Spin Head at this time. The screen, shows in
parallel, the timer and the progress bar, on the right (Ref. (2)).

6.3 Centrifugation stop

If, for some reason it is necessary to stop the centrifugation before the established
time is finished, should be keep pressed down for a few seconds. The DG Spin
centrifuge will emit some intermittent acoustic signals that will end in a
continuous signal to indicate the centrifugation stop.
At this point, the Display will intermittently show the time indicated when the
timer stopped and the indicator of Erroneous centrifugation time ( ) will be
activated. To silence the acoustic alarm, press or .

To carry out a new centrifugation batch, open the Cover by pressing , load the
DG Spin Head with the new cards and close the Cover. The indicator will
automatically be switched off and the timer will show the pre-programmed
centrifugation time.

If centrifugation is stopped, the cards should be
invalidated.
Reliable results can only be obtained if the cards are
subject to a complete and continuous centrifugation,
only once.

7 MAINTENANCE
Maintenance of the DG Spin centrifuge only includes cleaning and
decontamination.

7.1 Maintenance plan

Maintenance is a set of operations carried out at regular intervals to preserve
function of the DG Spin centrifuge.
As a general rule and as long as there is no irregularity in the operation of the
equipment, the maintenance plan that should be followed is the following:

WARNING!
The cleaning processes of the equipment
surfaces should be carried out with the
equipment unplugged from mains.

7.1.1 Cleaning procedures

The DG Spin centrifuge has been manufactured with top-quality materials.
However, biological samples, saline solutions, acid or alkaline solvents should be
eliminated from the exterior surface before these can cause deterioration.
Cleaning of the external surfaces should be carried out periodically with a damp
cloth with a soft detergent.

WARNING!
Take care of not leaking cleaning solution into
the equipment openings.

WARNING!
Do not disassembly the equipment in any case.
If there is liquid inside, the cleaning and
decontamination operation should be carried
out by a QUALIFIED TECHNICIAN. Call the
nearest authorised Technical Service.

7.1.2 Decontamination of the equipment

DANGER!
Any part of the equipment that could come into
contact with blood, serum samples or any other
biological liquid should be treated as potentially
contaminant.

In order to prevent any risk of infection, it is important to carry out

decontamination of the instrument before performing certain operations.
Decontamination of the equipment should be carried out monthly or in the
following cases:
- After spillages, leaks, etc. of potentially contaminant liquids.
- Preparation of the equipment for its transport or storage.
- Before the intervention of the Technical Service.
- Equipment disposal.
To decontaminate the equipment, proceed as indicated below:

• Open the Cover of the centrifuge by pressing and remove the

DG Spin Head.
• Switch off the equipment and disconnect it from the mains.
• In case of spillages, absorb the liquid with a disposable absorbent
material (for example paper towels, gauze or paper clothes).
• Decontaminate the surfaces (Chamber, Cover, DG Spin Head, Card
holders, etc.) using a 0.5% (v/v) aqueous solution of sodium
hypochlorite. To do this, clean the surfaces with disposable towels or
turundas dipped into the disinfectant in such a way that they are
completely damp.
• Absorb the disinfectant solution with a disposable material.
• Rinse the surface with a soft detergent and water to eliminate the odour
and residual harmful chemical components.
• Dry the surface.
• Dispose of contaminated materials used during the decontamination in
a container for biological waste.

Before using any cleaning or decontamination
product different to those recommended by the
manufacturer, the RESPONSIBLE AUTHORITY
should verify with the manufacturer that the
methods proposed will not damage the
equipment.

NOTE:
The procedures described above do not
guarantee that the equipment is totally
decontaminated, but it reduces the risk of
contamination to a minimum.

8 OPERATION QUALIFICATION PROCEDURE (OQ)

The DG Spin centrifuge has two non-adjustable independent time basis controlled
by the centrifuges program itself. Given that the speed has been calibrated by the
manufacturer, if no function alarm is activated (see sections 12.1 and 12.2), it is
warranted that DG Spin centrifuge will correctly work for all its useful life, without
any additional calibration.
However, the procedure described below aims to provide a method for those
laboratories which, under a quality management system, should periodically verify
that the DG Spin centrifuge works under specifications.
The Operation Qualification Procedure (OQ) of the DG Spin centrifuge consists
of verifying the correct function of the following parameters:
- Centrifugation speed
- Balance control system

8.1 Required materials

To qualify operation of the DG Spin centrifuge the following materials are
required:
- Calibrated optical tachometer
- 24 DG Gel cards
To warranty the veracity of measurements, these materials should be calibrated
using instruments controlled regularly with traceable materials at primary or
secondary reference standards.

NOTE:
The use of any tachometer is possible as long
as it complies with the following specifications:
Tachometer: Optical
Scale division (rpm): ≤1 rpm
Range (rpm): 1.00 - 99,999 rpm
Maximum uncertainty permitted: ± 3 rpm
Detection distance: < 35 cm with visible red
light

NOTE:
It is advisable regular calibration of 1 year or
that recommended by the manufacturer of the
tachometer if its calibration validity period is
lower than 1 year.

8.2 Procedure for qualification of centrifugation speed

To verify that the DG Spin centrifuge complies with the speed specifications
described in section 3.1 "Technical specifications" proceed as described below:
• Switch on the DG Spin centrifuge to the mains and activate the Main
switch (Ref. (6), Figure 2).
• Verify that the Display (Ref. (5), Figure 1) is switched on and the timer
indicates the predefined centrifugation time.
• Open the Cover of the DG Spin centrifuge and remove the DG Spin
Head.
• Place 24 DG Gel cards in the corresponding Card holders.
• Place the DG Spin Head and close the Cover.

• Press to start a centrifugation batch.

• Wait for 20 seconds to ensure stabilisation of centrifugation speed.
• Vertically hold the optical tachometer on the centrifuge Cover,
pointing the reflective mark of the DG Spin Head shown by Ref. (1) of
Figure 10.

• Verify that the tachometer speed marked is within the speed range
defined in 3.1 “Technical specifications”.

• Furthermore, verify that the speed shown by the Display when is

pressed, although is not exactly the same than the tachometer speed, is
also within the speed range defined in 3.1 “Technical specifications”.

• Stop centrifugation by keeping pressed down for a few seconds

until earring a continuous acoustic signal.
• Open the Cover of the centrifuge; remove the DG Spin Head and the
cards.
• Place the empty DG Spin Head in the centrifuge and close the Cover.
The verification of centrifuge speed implies verification of the equipment time
basis and therefore, independent verification of the timer is not necessary.

NOTE:
Acceptance of the results enables ensuring
correct function of the DG Spin centrifuge with
respect to control of speed and time
Otherwise, repeat the procedure. If the results of
the new verification are not accepted, contact
your authorised Technical Service.

8.3 Procedure for qualification of the out-of-balance control system

The DG Spin centrifuge has a system that stops centrifugation if any imbalance
occurs in the DG Spin Head during centrifugation. The sensor also has an
autoverification system monitored by the program; in case of sensor fault, the
centrifuge stops and indicates the presence of an error in the system.
To verify that this out-of-balance control system is operational, proceed as
described below:
• Open the Cover of the DG Spin centrifuge and insert 2 adjoining cards.
• Close the Cover.

• Start a centrifugation batch by pressing .

• Verify that centrifugation is stopped and that the out-of-balance

indicator ( ) is activated in the Warning area of the Display during
centrifugation

NOTE:
The centrifugation stop enables ensuring

Otherwise, contact your authorised Technical
Service.

9 TRANSPORT AND STORAGE

WARNING!
The equipment must be decontaminated before
being transported and/or stored.

If the DG Spin centrifuge has to be stored for a long period of time, it is

recommendable to pack it as for transportation.
The required environmental storage conditions are those indicated in section 3.1
"Technical specifications".
The space requirements for storing the equipment are as follows:
- Size: 320 mm height x 635 m depth x 530 mm width (with packaging).
- Approximate weight: 18 Kg

WARNING!
Only use the original packaging for transporting
the equipment.

10 DISPOSAL OF THE EQUIPMENT

To dispose of the DG Spin centrifuge it should be completely cleaned and
decontaminated and all remains of samples and reagents eliminated. Once this is
done, it should be sent to an authorised centre for the processing of electronic
waste.

DANGER!
This instrument should only be disassembled
by authorised specialists.

CAUTION!
When the instrument is at the end of its useful
life, local legislation procedures in force should
be followed to dispose of it.

In the EU, the DG Spin centrifuge is considered as waste and is subject to selective
collection under European Directive 2002/96/EEC relating to waste from electrical
and electronic equipment.
To dispose of the equipment contact the distributor directly.

DG Spin Warranty

11 WARRANTY
The warranty conditions are established in separate documents. For more
information, contact your distributor.
The warranty does not cover:
- Damages caused by its initiation and functioning in environments that
contravene the Instructions for Use.
- Damages caused by accident, negligence or breach of the Instructions
for Use.
- Damages caused for reasons of force majeure (atmospheric, geological
phenomena, etc.).
- Damages caused by incorrect handling including that carried out by
technical personnel not authorised by Diagnostic Grifols, S.A.
- Parts of plastic or rubber as well as enamel and paints that have
deteriorated due to knocks or usage except in the case of a manufacture
defect.
- The DG Spin Head, except in the case of a manufacture defect.
- Breakdowns or defects due to transport.

The replacement of equipment or components will be subject to the criteria of

Diagnostic Grifols, S.A.

CAUTION!
Repairs should be exclusively carried out by
personnel authorised for this purpose by
Diagnostic Grifols, S.A.

12 RESOLUTION OF INCIDENCES
During normal functioning of the DG Spin centrifuge certain warnings and
incidences may appear that the OPERATOR can resolve without the assistance of
the specialised Technical Service.

12.1 Warnings or incidences

MESSAGE DESCRIPTION VERIFICATIONS

Out-of balance The equipment has detected an imbalance
during centrifugation during centrifuge that has been stopped.
Open the Cover and verify that:
- The number of cards is an even
number.
- The cards are distributed
symmetrically in the DG Spin Head.
- The cards are properly placed in the
Card holders.
- The DG Spin Head is in perfect
condition: verify the absence of
knocks, deep scratches, etc.
- The DG Spin Head has all the Card
holders in their position.
- The DG Spin Head is properly placed
in the corresponding axle.
Once the cause that led to the imbalance is
corrected, close the Cover, press and
verify that the out-of balance indicator of
the Display disappears and centrifugation
begins.
Erroneous The centrifugation time of the batch in
centrifugation time progress was different to that pre-
established. Additionally, the timer flicks.
This may be due to:
- The OPERATOR has stopped the
centrifugation batch as described in
section 6.3. “Centrifugation stop” the

timer shows by flashing, the value

indicated at that moment.
- A power cut has stopped the
centrifugation batch. The time shows
by flashing, the value indicated at that
time and will emit some short sounds.
Press any button to stop the Acoustic
alarm and leave the timer prepared for a
new centrifugation batch.
The Cover centrifuge For safety, the equipment is designed in
is open such a way that centrifugation batch can
not start with the Cover open.
If the centrifuge is connected this
indicator is shown as long as the Cover is
open. The indicator disappears when the
Cover is closed. Otherwise, ensure that the
Cover is properly closed and if the
situation is not corrected switch of the
equipment and contact the Technical
Service.

If when is pressed the Open cover

indicator flashes, verify that there is no
previous centrifugation batch that has not
been unloaded in the centrifuge.
To do this, open the Cover and remove
the DG Spin Head, unload the cards and
load the new batch. Press again and
verify that centrifugation is carried out
normally.
Centrifugation out of A speed error has been detected during
range centrifugation.
Open the Cover, remove the DG Spin
Head and dispose of the cards. Switch off
the centrifuge and restart again.
If the error is detected again, contact the
Technical Service.

Restart again and if the error is detected

12.2 Error messages

Apart from the alerts and errors mentioned, the equipment may detect other error
conditions. In these cases, the equipment will carry out the following actions:
- Stop the centrifugation in execution.

- Ignore Buttons , and .

- Activate the Acoustic alarm with short sounds.

- Activate the indicator .

- Show an E on the Display with the corresponding error code.

CAUTION!
If the DG Spin centrifuge shows an error
message in the Display, restart the equipment.
If the error persists, contact the Technical
Service and indicate the error code.

12.3 Acoustic alarm

The DG Spin centrifuge has an Acoustic alarm that can be programmed on three

indicator will be activated with a long and continuous sound.

- When a centrifugation batch is stopped by keeping pressed down.

The DG Spin centrifuge emits three short sounds and a long sound
indicating that centrifugation has stopped at this time. The timer will
show by flashing, the value indicated at that time.
- After a power cut during a centrifugation batch. When it works again,
the DG Spin centrifuge will emit short sounds and the timer will show,
by flashing, the value indicated at that moment.

DG Spin Resolution of Incidences

- If after a complete centrifugation batch the Cover has not been opened
to remove the cards already centrifuged and the button is pressed
again to start a new centrifugation batch, the system emits some short
sounds and the Open cover alarm flashes. To start a new
centrifugation, it is necessary to open the Cover.
- If there is any error during centrifugation: Imbalances, centrifugation
speed out of range, incorrect function of out-of-balance control systems,
fault in the Cover opening system, excess current consumption of the
motor, etc. the DG Spin centrifuge emits some short sounds and the
corresponding indicator is displayed.
