PART I TECHNICAL DEFINITION – TRANSLATION INTO SPANISH.
1. What is image processing software remote sensing?
Remote sensing applications are similar to graphics software, but they enable generating
geographic information from satellite and airborne sensor data. Remote sensing applications
read specialized file formats that contain sensor image data, georeferencing information, and
sensor metadata.

Las aplicaciones de teledetección son similares al software de gráficos, pero permiten
generar información geográfica a partir de datos de sensores aéreos y satelitales. Las
aplicaciones de detección remota leen formatos de archivo especializados que
contienen datos de imágenes de sensores, información de georreferenciación y
metadatos de sensores.
COMENTARIO
Gracias a estos software nos permite realizer estudios geograficos de la tierra a traves
de imagines captadas por sensores.
2. How is sound used in sonar?
Sonar (sound navigation and ranging) is a technology that uses acoustical waves to sense the
location of objects in the ocean. The simplest sonar devices send out a sound pulse from a
transducer, and then precisely measure the time it takes for the sound pulses to be reflected
back to the transducer

El sonar (navegación y alcance por sonido) es una tecnología que utiliza ondas
acústicas para detectar la ubicación de objetos en el océano. Los dispositivos de sonda
más simples envían un pulso de sonido desde un transductor y luego miden con
precisión el tiempo que tardan los pulsos de sonido en volver al transductor.
COMENTARIO
El sonar se utiliza mayormente para realizar trabajos acusticos, que nos ayuda a captar
y reconocer objetos ocultos en cuerpos de agua.
3. Components of Remote Sensing - Platform
A Platform is defined as the carrier for remote sensing sensors. There are three major remote
sensing platforms: ground-level platform (towers and cranes), aerial platforms (Helicopters,
low altitude aircraft, high altitude aircraft), and spaceborne platforms (space shuttles, polar-
orbiting satellites, and geostationary satellites).

Una Plataforma se define como el portador de sensores de teledetección. Hay tres
plataformas principales de teledetección: plataforma a nivel del suelo (torres y grúas),
plataformas aéreas (helicópteros, aeronaves de baja altitud, aeronaves de gran altitud)
y plataformas espaciales (transbordadores espaciales, satélites en órbita polar y
satélites geoestacionarios).
COMENTARIO
Las plataformas son la base esencial de la teledeccion yaque gracias a ella permite la
captacion de informacion geografica.
4. What are radiometers used for?
Radiometer is a device used to measure the intensity of radiant energy. A majority of
radiometers use only single photocell sensors. In order to measure radiation emitted from a
specific spectrum or to incorporate the radiometer within a certain spectral response, an
optical filter is normally used.

El radiómetro es un dispositivo que se utiliza para medir la intensidad de la energía
radiante. La mayoría de los radiómetros utilizan solo sensores de fotocélula
individuales. Para medir la radiación emitida desde un espectro específico o para
incorporar el radiómetro dentro de una determinada respuesta espectral,
normalmente se utiliza un filtro óptico.
COMENTARIO
Utilizar este tipo instrumento nos va a ayudar a medir la intensidad de energía
radiante. La mayoría de los radiómetros utilizan simplemente fotocélulas como
sensores.
