YES OR NO – QUESTIONS
¿Qué son las preguntas de sí o no en inglés?
Este tipo de preguntas tienen ese nombre porque para responderlas sólo es necesario decir YES o NO. Las utilizamos en
conversaciones normalmente para confirmar o descartar hechos o ideas.
¿Cómo se estructuran estas preguntas?
En la estructura debemos utilizar el auxiliar adecuado para cada tiempo verbal tanto en preguntas como en respuestas;
observa las siguientes explicaciones y ejemplos, fíjate en las preguntas y también en las respuestas.
1. Verbo to be en presente y en pasado
Con el verbo TO BE utilizamos primero la forma del verbo adecuada para presente (am, is, are) o en pasado (was, were),
el sujeto y el complemento:
Are you happy? ¿Estás feliz?
Yes, I am. / No, I am not.
Were you happy yesterday? ¿Estabas feliz ayer?
Yes, I was. / No, I wasn’t.
2. Presente simple:
En estas preguntas utilizamos el auxiliar DO / DOES de la siguiente manera:

Do you have breakfast every day? - ¿Desayunas todos los días?
Yes, I do. / No, I don’t.
Does she watch TV at night? - ¿Ella ve televisión en la noche?
Yes, she does. / No, she doesn’t.
And if I want an interrogation?
Does / Do + Subject + verb in simple form + complement + ?
Auxiliar Does / Do + Sujeto + Verbo en forma simple + complemento + ?
Do they eat breakfast? – ¿Ellos desayunan?
Does she eat breakfast? - Ella desayuna?
