1. OBJETIVO. / OBJECTIVE
Que se utilicen solo herramientas y equipos de marca o patente para que todas las tareas sean llevadas de una forma
segura.
Only tools and equipment they are brand made are used so that all tasks are carried out in a safe way.
2. ALCANCE. / SCOPE
Para todo el personal relacionado con el uso de herramienta que realice actividades dentro del proyecto de la
CONSTELLATION BRANDS INC.
For all personnel related to the use of tool, that carries out activities within the project in CONSTELLATION BRANDS INC.
3. PROCEDIMIENTO. / PROCEDURE
1. Precauciones Generales / General cautions
• Nunca retire o interfiera con la operación de cualquier característica de protección o seguridad de las
herramientas.
• Siempre utilice la herramienta adecuada para el trabajo correspondiente.
• Al trabajar con un martillo u otras herramientas pequeñas, utilice el EPP correcto. Por ejemplo: guantes,
protección de ojos, para las herramientas que se usan.
• El cargar herramientas en las bolsas de nuestra ropa es peligroso, especialmente si las herramientas son
filosas o puntiagudas.
• No utilice presión o fuerza excesiva en cualquier herramienta de mano.
• No se deben dejar caer o arrojar herramientas de un lugar a otro, ni de una persona a otra.
• Las herramientas que deban ser levantadas o bajadas desde una elevación a otra serán colocadas en una
cubeta de herramientas aprobada o sujetadas firmemente a una cuerda de mano.
• No se utilizarán herramientas hechizas. En caso de que se necesite una herramienta especial para una tarea
específica para la cual no exista dicha herramienta fabricada, se deben proporcionar el diseño de ingeniería,
especificaciones, cálculos y factores de seguridad y se debe obtener la aprobación de la gerencia antes de
la construcción de dicha herramienta.
• Las herramientas eléctricas deben de contar con check list antes de cada uso y ser des energizadas y
bloqueadas antes de manipularlas para cambiar brocas, herramientas, hojas, discos, etc. Deben ser
desconectadas cuando no se estén utilizando.
• Las revoluciones por minuto de los discos de corte, desbaste, etc. Debe ser mayor de lo especificado por la
herramienta a utilizar.
• Las herramientas eléctricas no deben usarse en áreas húmedas ni mojadas.
• Never remove or interfere with the operation of any protection or safety features of the tools.
• Always use the right tool for the job.
• When working with a hammer or other small tools, use the correct PPE. Example: gloves, eye protection, for
the tools being used.
• Loading tools into bags is dangerous, especially if the tools are sharp or pointed.
• Do not use excessive pressure or force on any hand tool.
• Do not drop or throw tools from one place to another, or from one person to another.
• Tools that must be raised or lowered from one level to another shall be placed in an approved tool bucket or
firmly attached to a rope.
• Do not use homemade tools. In the event that a special tool is required for a specific task for which there is
no such tool, engineering design, specifications, calculations and safety factors must be provided and
management approval must be obtained prior to construction the tool.

• Power tools must be de-energized and locked before changing drills bits, tools, blades, discs, etc. They must
be disconnected when not in use.
• The revolutions per minute of the cutting discs, roughing, etc. Must be greater than specified by the
manufacturer to be used.
• Power tools should not be used in wet areas.
2. Herramientas de Mano (Elaborar Check list antes de su uso). / Hand tools (Check list before
use)
2.1 Desarmadores / Screwdrivers
• Utilice el tamaño y tipo correcto de desarmador para el trabajo.
• No sostenga el trabajo en el que se utilizará el desarmador en la palma de la mano., el desarmador puede
resbalarse causando lesiones.
• Los desarmadores deben ser colocados adecuadamente para impedir un resbalón.
• Use the correct size and type of screwdriver for the job.
• Do not hold the object in which the screwdriver will be used in the palm of your hand. The screwdriver may
slip causing injury.
• The screwdrivers must be properly positioned to prevent a slip.
2.2 Martillos / Hammers
• Los martillos deben tener una ruta despejada, y el área objetivo debe estar libre de obstrucciones.
• Los martillos con cabezas abombadas nunca deben usarse ya que pueden fallar el objetivo, o una cabeza
dañada puede causar astillas y hacer volar fragmentos de metal.
• Nunca sostenga con su mano un objeto que va a ser golpeado con un martillo por otro trabajador. Sostenga
el objeto con grapas u otro accesorio de tipo tenazas.
• Los mangos de madera se mantendrán libres de astillas o cuarteaduras asegurando que la cabeza del martillo
se encuentre firme y asegurada al mango.
• The hammers must have a clear route, and the target area must be clear of obstructions.
• Ball pen hammer should never be used as they can fail the lens, or a damaged head can cause splinters and
blow up metal particles.
• Never hold with your hand an object that is to be hit with a hammer by another worker. Hold the object with
staples or other clamp-type attachments.
• Wood handles will be kept free of chips or cracks ensuring that the head of the hammer stays firmly attached
to the handle.
2.3 Limas / Files
• No utilice una lima como palanca o martillo, ya que es quebradiza y se rompe fácilmente.
• Las limas deben tener mangos de madera para proteger a los trabajadores del extremo afilado de la lima.
• Do not use a file as a lever or hammer as it is brittle and breaks easily.
• Files must have handles to protect workers from the sharpened end of the file.
2.4 Barras de Palanca / Level bars

• Asegúrese de que la barra esté segura debajo de la carga aplicando primero una ligera presión.
• Verifique su propio equilibrio antes de ejercer la fuerza completa.
• No se utilizará una barra de extensión en barras de palanca.
• Make sure that the bar is secure under the load by applying light pressure first.
• Check your own balance before exerting full force.
• An extension bar will not be used in bar for leveling.
2.5 Llaves / Wrench
• Las llaves deben ser empujadas hacia el lado contrario del cuerpo, de ser posible, para reducir la posibilidad
de que resbale la llave y golpee al usuario en la cara o cuerpo.
• Las llaves ajustables (pericas) no están permitidas.
• Nunca utilice una llave como martillo, o un martillo como llave, que no esté diseñado para ser usado como
tal.
• Nunca utilice una barra alargadora en una llave o “aplique doble llave” a una tuerca. Utilice una llave de
martillo o en vez de ello golpee.
• Las llaves no deben usarse cuando las mordazas estén abombadas al punto que tenga lugar un resbalón.
• Wrench should be pushed to the opposite side of the body, if possible, to reduce the possibility of the wrench
slipping and striking the user on the face or body.
• Adjustable wrenches are not allowed.
• Never use a wrench as a hammer, or a hammer as a wrench, that is not designed to be used as such.
• Never use an extension bar on a wrench or "double wrench" on a nut. Use a hammer wrench or strike instead.
• Wrench should not be used when the jaws are curved to the point that a slip occurs.
2.6 Cinceles y Punzones / Chisels and Punches
• Entre los defectos inseguros se encuentran cabezas abombadas, puntos abollados, y otras superficies
excesivamente templadas.
• Utilice cinceles con hongo protector.
• No utilice como barra de palanca, golpee con martillo, utilice uno demasiado corto para la seguridad de las
manos, cincele hacia usted mismo u otros, ni utilice sin la protección adecuada.
• Unsafe defects include bulging heads, dented spots, and other excessively warm surfaces.
• Use chisels with protective handguard.
• Do not use as a bar for leveling, hit with hammer, use one too short for protect hand, chisel towards yourself
or others or use without proper protection.
2.7 Brocas / Drills
• Entre los defectos inseguros se encuentran cabezas desgastadas o golpeadas, bordes templados
excesivamente y sin filo.
• No utilice una broca como escarificador, ni cambie barrenas sin desenchufar el cable.
• Unsafe defects include worn or battered heads, excessively hardened edges and no sharp edges.
• Do not use a drill bit as a scarified or change augers without unplugging the cord.

2.8 Cuchillos y Herramientas Cortantes / Knives and Cutting Tools
• Únicamente se permite el uso de cuchillos y herramientas cortantes con hojas auto-retractiles automáticas
para tareas de trabajo. Cuando se requiera un tipo alternativo de herramienta cortante, se debe desarrollar,
revisar y aprobar una evaluación de peligro por parte del responsable-Superintendente de operaciones y de
la gerencia de seguridad.
• Se prohíbe el uso de un cuchillo de bolsillo como herramienta cortante al realizar una actividad o tarea de
trabajo.
• Se requieren herramientas especializadas para operaciones de corte y pelado de cable, el uso de un cuchillo
de liniero está prohibido.
• No guarde una navaja expuesta en un cinturón de herramientas, bolsa o cualquier lugar al que alguien pueda
tener acceso sin darse cuenta.
• Utilice guantes anti corte nivel 5 y protección de brazos según sea adecuado y según se defina en la
identificación de peligros cuando se use un cuchillo o herramienta cortante similar.
• Sostenga el cuchillo correctamente. Asegúrese de sostener la herramienta por el mango únicamente,
mantenga sus dedos, pulgares y el resto de la mano alejados del cuchillo al cortar. Si se le cae, no trate de
atraparlo, deje que caiga antes de recogerlo.
• Sujete el objeto cortado en una superficie sólida. Nunca sostenga un objeto en sus piernas o contra cualquier
parte de su cuerpo para hacer un corte. Cuando sea posible, utilice un dispositivo mecánico para ayudar a
sostener el objeto.
• Siempre dirija el corte en dirección contraria a su cuerpo. Visualice la trayectoria que tomara la navaja antes
de hacer el corte. Asegúrese de que ninguna parte del cuerpo se encuentre en la trayectoria si la herramienta
se resbala o sale de la superficie de corte.
• Permanezca concentrado. No realice tareas de corte al hablar con otros o mientras existan otras
distracciones. Si es interrumpido, aleje la herramienta y termine la tarea más tarde.
• Mantenga la navaja afilada y limpia. Una navaja afilada le permite cortar usando menos fuerza y le da mayor
control de la herramienta.
• Only the use of knives and cutting tools with automatic self-retracting blades for work tasks is allowed. Where
an alternative type of cutting tool is required, a hazard assessment should be developed, reviewed and
approved by the personnel responsible for operations and safety management.
• It is forbidden to use a pocket knife as a cutting tool when performing an activity or work task.
• Specialized tools are required for wire cutting and stripping operations, the use of a knife is prohibited.
• Do not store an exposed razor in a tool belt, bag, or anywhere that someone may inadvertently access.
• Wear level 5 cutting gloves and arm protection as appropriate and as defined in the hazard identification when
using a knife or similar cutting tool.
• Hold the knife correctly. Be sure to hold the tool by the handle only, keep your fingers, thumbs and the rest of
the hand away from the knife when cutting. If it falls, do not try to catch it, let it fall before picking it up.
• Hold the cut object on a solid surface. Never hold an object on your legs or against any part of your body to
make a cut. When possible, use a mechanical device to help hold the object.
• Always direct the cut in the opposite direction to your body. Visualize the path the edge will take before making
the cut. Make sure that no part of the body is in the path if the tool slips or leaves the cutting surface.
• Stay focused. Do not perform cutting tasks when talking to others or while there are other distractions. If it is
interrupted, move the tool away and finish the task later.
• Keep the razor sharp and clean. A sharp knife allows you to cut using less force and gives you more control
of the tool.

2.9 Palas, Picos y Hachas / Shovels, Spikes and Axels
• Entre los defectos inseguros se encuentran mangos ásperos, sueltos, cuarteados o divididos, bordes sin filo
o cuarteados, superficies templadas en exceso.
• No utilice como cuña, barra de palanca o martillo.
• Unsafe defects include rough, loose, cracked or split handles, blunt or cracked edges, excessive tempered
surfaces.
• Do not use as wedge, lever bar or hammer.
3. Inspección y Almacenamiento / Inspection and storage
• Todas las herramientas se mantendrán limpias y deben ser inspeccionadas por el usuario antes de su uso.
• Se realizara una inspección mensual de herramientas y se colocará la cinta de color correspondiente al mes
en curso en los primeros 5 días del mes.
• Aquellas herramientas que se encuentre que son defectuosas no serán utilizadas. Deben ser reparadas o
reemplazadas adecuadamente. Devuélvalas al almacén de herramientas.
• Si las cabezas de herramientas que golpean se abomban o rebaban, haga que sean perfilada nuevamente.
Si los mangos de herramientas tienen astillas, están rotos o sueltos, deben ser reemplazados.
• Las herramientas siempre deben ser devueltas a su lugar de almacenamiento correcto y no deben dejarse
donde creen un peligro o puedan dañarse.
• All tools will be kept clean and must be inspected by the user before use.
• A monthly inspection of tools will be carried out and a tape with color corresponding to the current month in
the first 5 days of the month.
• Those tools that are found to be defective will not be used. They must be repaired or replaced properly. Return
them to the tool storage.
• If the hammer heads bulge or crack, have them sharpened. If tool handles have splinters, are broken or
loose, they should be replaced.
• Tools should always be returned to their proper storage location and should not be left where they create a
hazard or could be damaged.

4. Capacitación, / Training
Encargado, Superintendente de los trabajos y el supervisor de seguridad se asegurarán de que todos los
empleados estén capacitados en el uso seguro y correcto de todas las herramientas de mano y equipo utilizado
en sus trabajos.
Manager, Superintendent of the works and the safety supervisor will ensure all employees are trained in the safe
and proper use of all the hand tools and equipment used in their work.
