The story of Santa Claus
Escena I (Casa de Papá Noel)
El narrador está en el escenario y comienza a hablar cuando se abre el telón. La escena
comienza en la casa de St. Nicolás. El Sr. y la Sra. Claus están sentados junto a la chimenea
en medio del escenario. El Sr. Clausj esculpe madera. El Sr. Claus está sentado triste y la Sra.
Claus está tratando de consolarlo.
Narrador: This is Mr Claus, a carpenter. He lives in the cold North
with his wife, Mrs Claus. They love children very much,
but they don`t have any.
Señor Claus: It`s so cold this winter. The children can`t play.
Señora Claus: Yes, it`s snowing, but it`s soon Christmas Day.
La sra. Claus se levanta y mira lo que está haciendo el sr. Claus.
Señora Claus: What are you making? It looks very good.
El señor Claus sonríe.
Señor Claus: It`s a doll. Isn`t it clever? And it`s made out of wood!
It`s for a girl from the village, you see. Every day I
make three!
Señora Claus: Can you make more?
De repente, el Sr. Claus muestra su alegría.
Señor Claus: I`ve got an idea! Let`s make lots of toys!
Señora Claus: And then we can give them to the girls and boys!
Señor Claus: Then, if it`s snowing and they can`t go outside …
Señora Claus: …… they can play at home and be happy inside!
Let`s make toys for Christmas and give them away!
El Sr. Claus se levanta porque está encantado con la idea.
Señor Claus: Then the children can be happy on Christmas Day.
Baja el telón. El coro comienza a cantar la primera canción.

Mr Claus was kind and old,
on a Christmas long ago.
The children played by the fireside.
No one was out to play or ride,
on a Christmas long ago.
But Mr Claus was making toys,
all for the little girls and boys,

he now is the man we know,
on a Christmas long ago.
Escena II - calle de la ciudad
Las luces están encendidas cuando se abre el telón. El Sr. y la Sra. Claus fueron a la
ciudad en su trineo tirado por renos. El trineo está en el escenario de la izquierda.
Ambos (Mikołaj y su esposa están sentados en un trineo). Otto y sus tres hijos están de
pie y hablan a la derecha. El Sr. Mikołaj se baja del trineo con tres juguetes en sus
manos y camina hacia Otto y sus hijos. La Sra. Claus se queda en el trineo y mira.
Narrador: On Christmas Eve, Mr and Mrs Claus take their sleigh
and reindeer. They go to the village to give the toys to
the children.
Señor Claus: Hello, Otto. Merry Christmas to you!
Otto: Hello, Mr Claus, and how do you do?
El Sr. Claus esconde los regalos para los niños en la parte de atrás y se dirige a ellos de
manera divertida.
Señor Claus: Have the children been good?
Otto: Yes!
El Sr. Claus está mostrando regalos. Los niños saltan de satisfacción.
Señor Claus: Look what I`ve got. Presents for Greta, for Elsa and
Kurt.
Children: Presents! Yippee!!!
El Sr. Claus le da un caballo a Kurt.

Kurt: Look, it`s a horse! It`s really great!
El Sr. Claus le da una muñeca a Elsa y un osito de peluche a Greta.
Señor Claus: That doll is for Elsa.
Otto: Greta, what have you got there?
Greta: Look, Daddy, look! It`s a little brown bear!
El Sr. laus se dirige hacia el trineo. Y se mete en ellos.
Señora Claus: We must go now. We`ve Got lots to do. Goodbye
everybody!
Otto: Merry Christmas to you!
Sr. y sra. Claus se cubren las piernas con una manta y ambos saludan a la audiencia.
Señor Claus: Remember dear children to always be good!
Las luces se atenúan. La cortina se cierra parcialmente.
Señora Claus: Then old Mr Claus can bring toys of wood.
Aparecen las luces. El Sr. Claus sale del trineo con una bolsa llena de regalos.
Narrator: So, every year, Mr and Mrs Claus make toys. On
Christmas Eve, they give them to the children.
En el centro del escenario, Liesel y Thomas se divierten.
Señor Claus: Ho-ho-ho! Happy Christmas! These are for you.
El señor Claus deja la bolsa en el suelo, la abre, saca la muñeca y se la da a Liesel.
Liesel: A doll!
Le da a Thomas un soldado de juguete.
Thomas: And a soldier! They`re lovely. Thank you.
Señor Claus: Now be good and be happy, all the year long.
El sr. Claus se va
Liesel: I promise.
Thomas: I promise.

Señor Claus: Now I must get along. Ho-ho-ho!
Caminando hacia su trineo el sr. Claus saluda.
Matka: Merry Christmas to you.
Sr. Claus le da un perro a Friedrich y un osito a Ursula.
Señor Claus: I`ve got a present for Freidrich, and for Ursula too.
Good bye children. Now we must go.
Freidrich: Merry Christmas. Goodbye!
Ursula abraza a Sr. Claus antes de que se vaya.
Ursula: We love you, you know.
Santa Claus saluda a los niños. Sale del escenario, las luces se apagan. Lo último que ves
son los niños saludando a Santa Claus. Baja el telón. El coro comienza a cantar la siguiente
canción.

Escena III - en un bosque oscuro
Se abre el telón. El escenario está iluminado con una luz azul fría. El Sr. y la Sra. Claus
están sentados en un trineo en medio del escenario. Están cubiertos con una manta pero
tiemblan de frío. Los renos se ven extremadamente cansados y son lentos al caminar. De
repente hay una luz del cielo con un ángel. El escenario está iluminado.
Narrator: The next Christmas Eve there is a lot of snow. Mr and
Mrs Claus are on their sleigh. They are very cold. An
angel sees them.
Mr Claus: Oh, dear. It`s so cold, and now it is night!
La sra. Claus ve de repente a un angel en el cielo.
Mrs Claus: Mr Claus look! What is that light? I`m scared, Mr Claus!
El Sr. Claus está tratando de ser valiente, pero también tiene miedo.
Mr Claus: Who are you? Please tell!
El ángel intenta calmarlos. Trae una capa roja y se la muestra a Santa Claus. Santa le quita
el abrigo pero todavía está nervioso. El ángel le pone un abrigo a Santa y se sienta frente a
él.
Angel: I`m an angel. Don`t worry. I`m here to help.
Here, take this coat. It`s magic, you know. Put it on,
and feel warm in the ice and the snow.
You`re both very kind. You were always good, so, these
are your helpers.
En este punto, los elfos corren hacia el escenario. El Sr. y la Sra. Claus están muy
sorprendidos de verlos. Los elfos se colocan en una fila en diagonal a la audiencia para que
él esté hablando con Santa y la audiencia al mismo tiempo. Con cada frase, el elfo da un
paso adelante.
Elves: We`re elves. How do you do?
Elf 1: We`re fast.
Elf 2: We`re very good.
Elf 3: We can make lots of toys.
Elf 4: And not just of wood!
Cuando los elfos terminan su papel, cuatro nuevos renos se unen al arnés de Santa.

Angel: Look! These magic reindeer can help you to fly.
Mr Claus: And children can see me up in the sky!
Angel: Now you can take presents …
Elves: …. To all the good children everywhere!
Mr Claus: Thank you, dear Angel. What a wonderful idea!
Todos los actores saludan al público justo cuando el telón comienza a caer y el coro
comienza a cantar la canción.
