El verbo "to be" en inglés es equivalente a los verbos "ser" y "estar" en castellano.
To be: tiene tres formas AM – IS - ARE (AUXILIARES)
Affirmative form ( forma afirmativa)
I am Yo soy/ estoy
You are Tu eres/estás
He/she/it is El/ella es/está
We are Nosotros somos/estamos
They are Ellos/ellas son/están
I am a doctor. Yo soy doctor.
I am at the hospital. Yo estoy en el hospital.
Negative form (forma negativa)
I am not / I´m not Yo no soy/ estoy
You are not / you aren´t Tu no eres/estás
He – she - it is not / he – she – it isn´t El/ella no es/está
We are not / We aren´t Nosotros no somos/estamos
They are not / They aren´t Ellos/ellas no son/están
I´m not at the school. Yo no estoy en la escuela.
She isn´t my sister. Ella no es mi hermana.

Direct questions (preguntas directas)
Las preguntas directas son aquellas que tienen por respuesta un si o no.
Am I?
Are you? eres/estás tú…?
Is he/she/it ? es/está el/ella?
Are we ? somos/estamos nosotros?
Are they ? son/están ellos/ellas?
Are you happy? Yes, I am. – No, I´m not
¿Eres feliz? Si, lo soy. – No, no lo soy.

Is the cat on the sofa? Yes, it is – No, it isn´t.
