I
This circuit protects the contents of the Q132
memory and maintains the clock functions when
the power voltage (+B) drops as a result of a power
failure or other cauries.(See Fig. 5-9).
Normally, +B is applied to pin 7 of Q131 and
pin 39 of Q132 via D117. If this +B is stopped as
a rezult of a power failure and the potential at
point A starts to fall, a back-up po$'er supply is
activated via D121 and D122 to replace the +B
supply. This back-up power voltage is applied to
prns 7 and 39, and also to pin 27 (reset terminal) Fig. 5-9 Back-uppowersupplycircuit

The FM stereo decoder features an FM stereo
decoder IC (HA1156ïV-P) containing a PLL oscilla-

plus a stereo decoder. A PNP transistor l8dB/oct
active filter is used to eliminate pilot leak and the
subcarrier from the decoded stereo signal.

5.2 AM TUNER SECTION(LW & MW}

This section includes an AM tuner IC (HA1138),
and variable capacitance diodes in a tuning circuit
equivalent ta a Z-ganged tuning capacitor circuit.
The local oscillator signal is passed to the syn-
thesizer circuit where it is compared with a refer-
ence frequency, and the resultant control voltage
output applied to the variable capacitance diodes
in order to determine the oscillator frequency
(tuning frequency).

5.3 FREOUENCYSYNTHESIZER
When the po\Mer is switched on, the received
frequency data stored in the memory within Q132
(MN1455F) is applied to the data latch of QlBl
(MN6147). The swallow and main programmable
counters are set by this data in order to receive
the designated frequency. Part of the local oscill-
ator output, on the other hand, is applied to pin
16 (pin 15 during AM reception) of Q131 via the
FET buffer amplifier. The local oscillator output

applied to Q131 is divided by a dual-coefficient
frequency divider, and subsequently counted by
both the swallow and the programmable counters.
