Present Simple Of “ BE”

Uses:

Ejemplos:

• Con un sustantivo:

I am a teacher. (Yo soy un profesor)

You aren’t a student.(Tú no eres un estudiante)
Is he a doctor? (Es él un médico?)

• Con una preposición de lugar:

She is in New York. (Ella está en Nueva York)

They aren’t at home. ( Ellos no están en casa)
Is the book on the table? ( Está el libro sobre la mesa?)

• Con un adjetivo:

We are happy. (Nosotros estamos contentos)

He isn’t sad. (Él no está triste)
Are you tired?

Mary is 20 years old / Maria tiene 20 años

I am 21 / Yo tengo 21 años
How old are you? / ¿Cuántos años tienes?

• Para expresar las sensaciones también se emplea el verbo 'to be' y equivale al 'tener'
español.

Are you hungry? / ¿Tienes hambre?

He is thirsty / Tiene sed

Simple Present Tense

Examples:

✓ I play tennis. Yo juego al tenis.

✓ He works in an office. Él trabaja en una oficina.
✓ They travel to Madrid.

GRAMMAR STRUCTURE

Mg. Lucy Romy Ríos Vásquez

ENGLISH TEACHER 6
INGLES IV
2020-I

He eats vegetables. (Él come vegetales.)

Alice dances at the theatre. (Alice baila en el teatro.)
The dog breaks the fence.

Si el verbo es FISH (pescar), se conjugará: He fishes at the sea. Él pesca en el mar.

Si el verbo es KISS (besar), se conjugará: She kisses to her boyfriend. Ella besa a su novio.
Si el verbo es WATCH (observar), se conjugará: He watches the mountain. Él observa la montaña.
Si el verbo es FIX (arreglar), se conjugará: He fixes his car. Él arregla su coche.
Si el verbo es GO (ir), se conjugará: She goes to the office.

Si el verbo es DANCE (BAILAR), se conjugará: She dances salsa very well. Ella baila salsa muy bien.

Si el verbo es TAKE (TOMAR), se conjugará: He takes a shower every day. He se ducha todos los días.

❖ Para la forma negativa se puede emplear la forma contraída de DON’T en lugar de DO NOT
o DOESN’T en vez de DOES NOT.

I don’t play tennis. Yo no juego al tenis.

He doesn’t work in an office. Él no trabaja en una oficina.
They don’t travel to Madrid. Ellos no viajan a Madrid.

ADVERBS OF FREQUENCY

Always (siempre)
Usually (usualmente)
Often (a menudo)
Sometimes (a veces)
Rarely (rara vez)
Never (nunca)

Ejemplos:

• Sara always watches TV in her room

• They sometimes do exercise in the park
• John never eats pizza

Ejemplos:

• I am often hungry.

• He is usually late to school.

PRESENT CONTINUOUS TENSE

Expresiones de tiempo tales como "now", "right now" and "at the moment" indican el
presente continuo.

She is reading a book.

a seguir. Sin embargo, explicaremos las tres más importantes.

Regla 1.

Write-------Writing Take-------------- Taking Dance------------ Dancing

Regla 2.
Ejemplos:

Mg. Lucy Romy Ríos Vásquez

ENGLISH TEACHER 15
INGLES IV
2020-I

Talk--------------Talking Play-------------Playing Review---------Reviewing

Regla 3.
Ejemplo:

Stop---------- Stopping Cut----------- Cutting swim --------------- swimming

estructura principal.
