Conjunto de operaciones por las que se cambia la forma y dimensiones de una pieza metálica sin pérdida de
material. Durante el proceso de transformación, el material y las máquinas precisan aceites de refrigeración y de
lubricación. En función del tipo de deformación y metal deformado se tienen los siguientes procesos. / Series of
operations which change shape and dimensions of a metallic piece without material loss. During the transforma-
tion process, both material and machines need cooling oils and lubricants. Depending on the kind of deformation
and the metal to be deformed, the following processes exist.

1.1.  Estampación y embutición / Deep drawing

Proceso de deformación en frío de metales por el que se transforma cierta pieza en una pieza hueca de acuerdo
con la forma definida por la matriz o molde de embutición utilizado y también mediante la presión ejercida por la
prensa hidráulica. / Cold metal forming process by which a piece is transformed into a hollow piece according to
the dye or mould used, and also the pressure of the hydraulic press.
