Once a year, always in autumn, there is a curious festival in the city of
Albuquerque in the south-west of the USA. This annual nine-day festival is
called The Balloon Festival. The first time this festival happened was to
celebrate the 50th anniversary of the local radio station. On that occasion
twelve hot-air balloons Took part in the event. The festival grew a lot and this
year more than one thousand balloons from many different countries are
taking part. There is a big variety of colours and sizes and some of them with
shapes of animals.
During the day you can walk around the balloons and talk with the pilots,
you can also fly on a balloon and have a view of the desert from the top of the
mountains. There are also places to have lunch and have a soft drink. During
the night you can see all the balloons iluminated and flying together. It is a
fantastic opportunity to take great photographs.

Carnival is a typical festival in my country. It is celebrated at the beginning of the year,
normally around February or March. In this festival people use fancy dresses. Children
at schools make fancy dresses with their teachers and wear them on a special day. Some
of them are amazing and others are just made at home with old clothes. What is the
most important is that people can’t recognize you. It is very typical to eat traditional
food like pork, vegetables and sweet desserts, too.
