Gustavo Cerati
Was a musician, singer-songwriter, composer and record producer
from Argentina.
Considered one of the most influential and well-known musicians
of Spanish-American rock and one of the most influential
musicians in Latin America. Legend of Latin American rock.
He gained fame and international recognition for being the
vocalist, guitarist and main composer of the rock band Soda
Stereo, one of the most important and influential bands of Latin
music.
After the dissolution of the band, he also obtained recognition and
success in his solo career, which consists of five studio albums and
various incursions along with other musicians.
On May 15, 2010, he suffered an ischemic stroke, which left him in
a coma for more than four years, dying on September 4, 2014
because of a respiratory arrest.
Throughout his solo career he won and was nominated for
numerous awards, including Latin Grammy, Konex, MTV and
Gardel. On December 5, 2013, the musician was named Illustrious
Citizen.
In its September 2012 edition, Rolling Stone ranked Cerati in the
number 4 position of the top 100 Latin rock guitarists.

considerado uno de los ms influyentes y reconocidos msicos del rock

Obtuvo fama y reconocimiento internacional por haber sido el vocalista, guitarrista y
compositor principal de la banda de rock Soda Stereo, una de las bandas ms
importantes e influyentes de la msica latina. Luego de la disolucin de la banda,
obtuvo tambin reconocimiento y xito en su carrera solista, que consta de cinco
lbumes de estudio y de diversas incursiones junto a otros msicos. Su camino como
solista se inici a comienzos de los aos noventa, en paralelo a dicha banda, debido a
un receso que se haba tomado el grupo tras una fuerte crisis. En esa instancia Cerati
public su primer lbum como solista, Amor amarillo; pero con el regreso de Soda
Stereo su carrera solista qued en suspenso hasta la disolucin absoluta de la banda.
Despus de Soda Stereo, Cerati experiment con diferentes estilos, desde la msica
electrnica (Plan V) a la msica sinfnica. En 2007 Soda Stereo regres en una gira
llamada Me vers volver, luego de la cual sus integrantes retomaron sus actividades
por separado. El 15 de mayo de 2010 padeci un accidente cerebrovascular isqumico,
que lo dej en estado de coma por ms de cuatro aos, falleciendo el 4 de septiembre
de 2014 a causa de un paro respiratorio en la Clnica ALCLA de Buenos Aires.10
A lo largo de su carrera como solista gan y fue nominado para numerosos premios,
entre ellos Grammy Latino, Konex, MTV y Gardel. El 5 de diciembre de 2013, el msico
fue nombrado Ciudadano ilustre, una distincin que le fue otorgada por la Legislatura
de la Ciudad Autnoma de Buenos Aires11 12 en reconocimiento a su trayectoria.

parallel to this band, due to a recess that had taken the group after a strong crisis. In
that instance Cerati published its first album like soloist, Amor yellow; But with the
return of Soda Stereo his solo career was in suspense until the absolute dissolution of
the band.
After Soda Stereo, Cerati experimented with different styles, from electronic music
(Plan V) to symphonic music. In 2007 Soda Stereo returned on a tour called Me Vers
volver, after which its members resumed their activities separately. On May 15, 2010,
he suffered an ischemic stroke, which left him in a coma for more than four years,
