LEMON TREE
INTRODUCCIN
La cancin que he elegido no es, como muchos creen, una cancin de The Beatles, pues, aunque
hay afirmaciones varias de que la cancin les pertenece, nunca llegaron a grabar una cancin con
ese nombre ni existe un archivo de audio o video en que la interpreten (al menos que yo haya sido
capaz de encontrar despus de buscar y rebuscar por toda la web, incluyendo la pgina web oficial
de The Beatles, en la que no aparece mencin alguna a ninguna cancin que se asemeje). Hay
varias canciones de los aos 60 y 70 tituladas Lemon tree (vese Lemon tree de Trini Lpez, autor,
entre otras, de canciones como If a had a hammer, muy adecuadas para trabajar con nios; Lemon
tree. Trini Lpez), pero nada tiene que ver, ni la meloda ni la letra, con el limonero del que tratar
en esta pgina. La cancin a la que me refiero es original de una banda alemana llamada Fools
Garden. Fue creada en 1991 por Peter Freudenthaler (voz) y Volker Hinkel (guitarras) bajo el
nombre Fools Garden. La formacin se completaba con Thomas Mangold en el bajo, Roland Rhl
en teclados y Ralf Wochele en batera. En 1995 editaron el disco Dish of the day, logrando un xito
masivo con este sencillo,Lemon tree. La banda ha tomado la costumbre de hacer covers de clsicos
rock 'n' roll durante sus presentaciones en vivo (por ejemplo Ticket to Ride de The Beatles, o My
Generation de The Who).

Lemon tree es una cancin binaria y se puede interpretar y tocar con un xilfono empleando un
obstinato sencillo o simplemente reproduciendo el ritmo golpeando las rodillas con las manos. Sin
embargo, si el profesor pudiera hacer un esfuerzo, y dispusiera de alguna guitarra en el colegio,
podra aprender los acordes para que la cancin fuera ms fiel al ritmo original. Son acordes muy
comunes y sencillos y slo requieren un poco de prctica.
