TAXONOMA 1 REINO: Plantae PHYLUM: Magnoliophyta CLASE: Magnoliopsida ORDEN: Lamiales FAMILIA: Calceolariaceae GNERO: Calceolaria ESPECIE: Calceolaria thyrsiflora NOMBRES COMUNES EN ESPAOL: Calceolaria, Capachito, Zapatitos de Venus, Zapatitos de la Virgen, Flor sueco. HBITAT Y ECOLOGA5: Los individuos de Calceolaria crecen en laderas asoleadas y rocosas, matorrales secundarios, orillas de caminos hmedos, milpas en la regin del bosque mesfilo. Entre los 2400 y 3000 metros de altura.

DATOS IMPORTANTES6: Planta herbcea, que alcanza una altura de hasta 50cm. Hojas dispuestas en roseta en la base de la planta, bastante grandes, pubescentes, de forma ovada, atenuadas en la base y obtusas en el pice, con los mrgenes dentados. Flores hermafroditas, amarillas con pintas rojas, reunidas en inflorescencias; flores de de hasta 3cm, cliz partido en 4 tpalos, corola formada por ptalos muy modificados formando dos labios, el superior mucho ms pequeo que el inferior; 2 estambres, 1 pistilo capitado. El Fruto es una cpsula con muchas semillas diminutas en su interior.
CONSERVACIN4: No ha sido clasificada. DISTRIBUCIN GEOGRFICA2: De la Paragonia Mxico central, con su centro de distribucin en la regin de los Andes. DIVERSIDAD3: 671 especies, ms importantes: Calceolaria alba, Calceolaria arachnoidea, Calceolaria banksii, Calceolaria bicolor, Calceolaria biflora.
