Frosty Mornings

For the past few days we’ve been having frosty mornings, while the rest of the continent is having snow.  My apartment is situated so that what starts out as frosty in the morning continues to be so well into the afternoon when across the road has well and truly defrosted.  I’m sitting in the car waiting for it to heat up before heading out.

Wk 21: Hands

This is the hand of Brendan Behan.  Well, actually no, it’s the hand of the sculpture of Brendan Behan.  He sits by the Canal running parallel to the Whitworth Rd.  I walked in this morning – it was something similar to this “A Walk Into Work” – except possibly with a bit more fog…

Wk 21: Hands

Sorry I’ve been away for a while – my laptop moved to the armchair and my mojo stayed at the desk.  It’s been unusual ’cause there has been the odd photo taken but nothing has been uploaded. So, here it goes – take it from now and see where we go.

This week it’s HANDS and this is a door knocker I walk past on the way into work (when I do actually get off of the bus and walk)

Claddagh

Some of you will recognise the design as that of a claddagh (ring) and I’ve never seen it being used as a door knocker so this was new to me.

Wk14: Texture

This is an up-close of The Spire on O’Connell St., Dublin city and a lovely example of texture.

Wk 13: Strangers

I’m not great at photographing people or specifically strangers.  On the other hand I could just have posted any old photo of people and said they are strangers – and in a way to you they would be.  However, I won’t – I was out and about the other day and I did try to snap a few people.  I have to say I really do admire photographers who can just snap street scenes – I’m just too self conscious – when I shouldn’t be.  Oh well I suppose it’s all practice, practice, practice.

Wk 12: Something Blue (pt3)

This has been a rather good week for posting hasn’t it?  Well here we are on the last day – on the other hand, during the week I was strolling down Moore Street (a market street in Dublin) and I spotted something blue – a pallet was painted or daubed blue.  I just thought how wonderful, something to cheer up the humdrum of a working day!

In this case it’s the boys in Blue:

Let’s not mention the lack of wk11 – I might try to pop one or two in this week 🙂

ANYWAY – over the weekend we went out to Dun Laoghaire to see the replica of Dylan Thomas’s writing shed – it’s on tour this year to celebrate his centenary.  The shed was delightful – white on the inside with two sets of windows, a book case, stove and desk.  On the desk were the lists of words he used for rhyming and a la thesaurus.  To say the least – I was in 7th heaven!

So here’s the door:  The outside was brown but the door and the steps up were of a lovely duck egg blue.  I took the photo as a reminder for the next time paint the shed  😀

I’ve just remembered the white boarders don’t show up on this background – doh!

Wk 10: Vintage (pt3)

Remember when I said the new of today is the vintage of tomorrow – well this one is about just over a decade old and could definitely be considered antique & vintage – it was my first Apple laptop – an iBook from 2001/2002  Oh how I loved this little baby!

(That frame didn’t exactly turn out on the photo did it?)

Wk 10: Vintage (pt2)

This is a recycled photo – it was a tea set that was given to me by my grandmother – I love the art deco style of it.  Sadly I’m still terrified to use it.
