And now I'm just that much poorer

After going to the gym this morning and having a wonderful time at yum cha with erilyn, hnix and jocondite, I came home and let Floyd out.

I was pottering around, reading my flist, considering taking a nap, when there was an almighty bang. I didn't think much of it as there's a colourbond fence nearby and often things are banged against it. A few seconds after the bang, Floyd comes bolting in and up the stairs. He'd been frightened and came inside. So I closed the door and thought about that nap (I won't nap with the door open and Floyd outside and he's only allowed outside when I'm at home).

Anyway, I sat back down when Floyd let out this almighty howl. I bolted up the stairs and there he was lying against my bedroom door panting and obviously in distress. I noticed his nose was very pink and when I touched it, blood came away. My god. I had him in my arms, then in the cat carrier and then to the car where I was frantically ringing my vet, who was of course, closed, within about 5 minutes. Thankfully, they had on their answering machine the number for the emergency vets.

Off I go, Floyd next to me. He started to calm down but was periodically sneezing (nothing quite like getting cat snot all over you) and making his displeasure about being in the car known.

Anyway, my boy took a header (probably into the fence) and has a very slight concussion (he's not always the most graceful of felines). I am now $185 poorer. Floyd had thee good drugs which were amusing because he tried to play but couldn't co-ordinate properly.

He's still sneezing (trying to clear the dried blood, I expect) but he's alert, if quiet. He's missing a few little tufts from his head (but the vet doesn't think he was in a fight) but overall, he's okay.

That howl though, it scared the life out of me. I love my baby.
