Send a Tip Using the Brave Browser

,

The Brave internet browser has a built in feature called “Brave Rewards“. Using that feature you can send a “tip” to online content providers and web sites using a crypto currency called BAT.

What is BAT crypto currency?

The mission of the team behind the BAT crypto currency is to fix the current digital advertising space. The present issues include the fact that online users are unknowingly tracked, publishers are having trouble monetizing content, and advertisers are constant victims to fraud.

The BAT crypto currency cuts out the middlemen from the advertising process. Online users are paid for their time watching ads and publishers directly receive the majority of the ad revenue. Additionally, advertisers gain a better return on their advertising investments and receive more accurate data.

Sending Tips via Brave Rewards

Tips may be sent directly as a one-time payment or set up on a recurring schedule every month. These donations differ from your monthly auto-contribution budget even though they are are pulled from the same Digital Wallet within your Brave internet browser.

The tipping system was designed to make supporting content creators a simple and painless process. To tip a website or content creator:

  1. Open your Brave browser and visit the content creator or web page you want to tip.
  2. Click the Rewards icon on the right-hand side of the address bar which reveals the Rewards Panel.
  3. Click “Send A Tip…” in the Rewards panel.
  4. The web sites Tipping Banner will appear at the top of the browser.
  5. Select your Tip amount from the choices provided then click Send My Tip.

If you haven’t already downloaded the Brave internet browser I personally recommend doing so. Not just because of this tipping feature. Rather because of the Brave team’s commitment to giving us all back our privacy.

As users, access to our online activity and data is “sold” to the highest bidder. Internet giants grow and monopolize the field, while smaller publishers go out of business. The online advertising space is also rife with Ad fraud which only further hurts the smaller publishers. These smaller publishers usually lack sufficient funding to compensate for those losses. This only furthers the monopoly of the larger companies encouraging even more privacy violations. Let us take back control with Brave.
