    breadbox (plural breadboxes)

    1. A container for storing bread and other baked goods to keep them fresh.
      Synonym: bread bin (UK)
    2. (computing, slang) A Commodore 64 computer.
      • 2010, Barry Voeten, Colourcash, page 14:
We had a computer at school, a Commodore 64. The thing had hardly any memory, not even one thousandth of an mp3-player kids use nowadays. To load a game you had to insert a cassette which transmitted a code by means of an endless series of beeps to a brown case we called "the bread box".
      • 2020, Holger Weßling, Impossible Mission I & II - The Official Guide:
That's why he gave him a Commodore 64 in 1983. [] Nick [] had converted his cupboards so that the shelf in which the bread box was located could be pulled out a little. So the head was nicely in line with the TV.
