- Filter #614 - the mommer/zoomer slang filter has a regex fragment disallowing the phrase "baby oil" (
|\bbaby\W?oil
) which you seem to have added in your in edit (per the edit filter examine log) as a link to baby oil as this is a product the company make. The other hits were from a "private testing filter" and no action was taken - the disallow was from 614 so this is the important one here. Perhaps the filter can be modified to permit linking to our article about baby oil, by using|(?<!\[\[)\bbaby\W?oil\b(?!\]\])
(a pattern I just made, it should work and I've tested it) for the baby oil line of regex instead? MolecularPilot 🧪️✈️ 22:13, 2 March 2025 (UTC)
- @MolecularPilot: Baby oil is found on lines 35 and 59, though 59 is moreso a Diddy-related general referencing line than a baby-oil-specific line. I'm personally not sure either mention is really needed anymore. I've checked through the last 5000 filter log entries, and not a single one matches the baby oil referencing. I don't know that it's necessarily effective anymore. EggRoll97 (talk) 17:12, 4 March 2025 (UTC)
- I'm looking into ways to improve the false positive rate although it seems to be uncommon. There are still a fair number of hits for this part of the regex. While most recent hits also hit other expressions, some do not. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 16:51, 7 March 2025 (UTC)
- @Mushroomfroggie:
Not done – You should be able to make the edit now, but please include one or more citations with your change. I have also reduced the false positive rate on this aspect of the filter. Thank you for the report. Daniel Quinlan (talk) 21:26, 7 March 2025 (UTC)

- Pomelo (filter log) (user filter log)
- Description
- So, on 4th February 2025 I created a new segment called "Pomelo In Festivals and Cultural Rituals". Previously 'Pomelo' article in Wikipedia did not have any such segment. Western societies did not have such rituals but Asian cultures do have them. With this new segment, I have made the 'Pomelo' article in Wikipedia more culturally inclusive. I have used some sources, including my own website.
Later I saw that the segment had been renamed and made shorter. I am fine with making the segment succinct and compact. But I see that any mention of 'ritual' and 'festival' is removed from the heading. For me it seems like cultural insensitivity. Festivals and rituals are the center pillars of any culture. Culture does not stand alone. Those festivals and rituals are very important for our culture - Indian and Asian. I don't think encyclopedias and encyclopedic style should be biased against any culture or their sensitivity.
I also see that the reference of my website has been removed. However, the information that I have provided remained and some of the sources that I have mentioned (apart from my website) have also remained. Those sources give out the same information that I have provided in my website. In fact, if anything, my article on Pomelo's cultural and spiritual significance is holistic and covers almost all of Asian cultures (that use Pomelo as a spiritual and cultural symbol). I am an Indian and an Asian who has seen many of these rituals that involved Pomelo. In fact, I take direct part in the Chhath puja where we worship the Sun God -Surya Dev. Also, I don't need any external sources to confirm that.
I hope that admins and experienced volunteers of Wikipedia would appreciate my contribution and give me my due credit. Without my initiation, there will be no 'In Culture' segment in the article about 'Pomelo'. 'In Culture' segment, in 'Pomelo', makes it inclusive and culturally sensitive. In many cultures and traditions, food items such as fruits, sugar, salt, vegetables, grains, etc, are used for spiritual and ritualistic purposes.
A true encyclopedia should give information about all the cultures and should not be seen to be against any particular culture. I hope that experienced volunteers of Wikipedia would appreciate those who are trying to contribute to Wikipedia and its community. I hope you will solve my issues. Thanks.
