In Cambodia, IRD carries out research activities and research training.
Over the last decade, IRD researchers have established numerous links with their local partners. These collaborations meets three objectives to:
1. Provide scientific answers to the challenges of sustainable development
2. Strengthen the development and organization of scientific research
3. Support the growth and productivity of human resources in Cambodia
Since 2020, the IRD Representative Office in Cambodia is housed within the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC), in Phnom Penh.

Visit of Claudie Haigneré, French astronaut and politician
20th October 2025On September 30, IRD and the Institute of Technology of Cambodia (ITC) held a conference on Claudie Haigneré, first French women to go in space with the International Space Station (ISS). The event gathered more than 350 participants.

IRD was there: French Volunteering Day!
17th October 2025IRD teams in Cambodia attended French Volunteering Day 2025, organized by France-Volontaires Cambodia on October 11 at the French Institute in Phnom Penh. The theme of the event was: “The contribution of international volunteer exchange and solidarity (VIES) to environmental issues.”
