Nowadays it is common to have several email accounts from different providers (Microsoft, Yahoo, Google, Apple ...), even it is common to have multiple accounts with the same supplier. The main purpose is usually to separate the work and personal spheres, so as not to mix and thus be able to "pass" some of those work emails that some are dedicated to sending late at night or when you are eating with your family a Sunday.
But in the same way that you can have several accounts, perhaps some of them have stopped using it, or you do not want to use it anymore and, instead of leaving it there, as in oblivion, you prefer to delete it completely. Today we will show you how to delete Gmail account in a fast, simple and effective way.
Gmail, and something else
Deleting a Gmail account is not just deleting a series of sent and received emails and making an email address disappear. No. It implies much more because When you delete your Gmail account, you will also delete your data from the associated services, that is, your subscriptions on YouTube, Google Play Movies, Google Books, etc. And of course, you will also delete all the data and files that you have in Gmail, in Google Calendar, in the Google Drive cloud storage service ... In short, deleting a Gmail account is the same as deleting your Google account. Therefore, it is advisable that you think very well before making the final decision and even so, even in the event that you finally decide to delete your GMail account, you may want to take some precautions in advance.

Make a backup of your data
Consequently, if you have been using your account for a long time and for different services, I am sure that you have a large amount of data and information that you do not want to loseFrom documents and photos to contacts, emails and a whole host of other things. Fortunately, the search giant allows us make a backup of all this or of the type of information that we want to safeguard in a file that we can store locally on our computer or upload it to another cloud storage service such as OneDrive, Dropbox, etc.
To make a backup before deleting your Gmail account, you just have to follow the following steps:
- Open the «Preferences Panel» of your Google account by pressing here. If you are not logged in, you will need to enter your credentials.
- In the "Personal Information and Privacy" section, click on the "Control your content" section.
- Then click on "Create file".
- On the next screen you can choose the data you want to include in your backup. Once you have done it (just activate / deactivate the button next to each one of them), press «Next».
- Choose the file compression format, its maximum size, and the delivery mode (add to DropBox, OneDrive or send download link by email) and click on "Create file".
How to delete GMail account
Once you have already created a backup where all the information, data and files that you want to safeguard are stored, then you can proceed to delete Gmail account. Once again, we insist that this will mean deleting all your Gmail data and all the services associated with your Google account.
- Return to the preferences panel of your Google account. You can do it by pressing this link again.
- Under the "Account Preferences" section, click on the option "Delete your account or certain services".
- Next, choose the option "Delete Google account and data". Optionally, you can remove only some services. If that's what you want, select that option and choose the services you want to remove from your account, for example, Google+ or YouTube. By pressing this option ("Delete Google account and data") you can make a backup copy of your data but don't worry, we have already healed our health and we have done it previously.
- At the bottom of this page you must click on "Delete account".
Once you do, your GMail account will have been completely deleted, and with it, all your associated data.
Regretful?
If you have just deleted GMail account and have already regretted it for any reason, don't worry! Google offers us a second chance and you can recover your account easily:
- Visit the "Account Assistance" page by clicking here.
- Enter the address of the account you just deleted in the box indicated for it.
- Select the option "I can't log in for other reasons."
- Follow the instructions that will be indicated on the screen.
Remember that recovering your account will only be possible if you completely deleted it, that is, you will not be able to recover it if you have maintained some services and deleted others, nor if you linked your old account to another.
