A new owl has landed in the Habitat Elebridith :-) Due to the awesomely generous fallconsmate I was able to adopt an owl from snow_white. His name is Sterling (I see what you did there! *lol*) and his Earl Grey Tea is already brewing... and as you can see, he already has bonded with Niblet and Juliet. Thanks again fallconsmate!

So, you might have heard that Germany won the World Cup... :-)

Took us only 24 years! *lol* Now, I wouldn't call myself a football/soccer fan. Absolutely not. I care about the ups and downs of our local team Arminina Bielefeld because my best RL friend is a huge fan, and I like how similarly fannish we get when she talks about it. So I care about that team.

Then why am I watching the World Cup, and am really loving it? It's a weird reason, I'll try to explain. I have always been a little envious about nations like England or the Netherlands who are never ashamed to be patriotic. Flags everywhere on every occasion. And despite Second World War being over for 69 years now, that was always something Germany was shy to do. The dreaded unfortunate associations. But when the World Cup was held in Germany in 2006, where we came out third, something happened that I still call magical. The german team made an unexpectedly awesome run, and all of a sudden it was like someone told Germany "Yes, you are allowed to be proud of those boys, and show it. You are allowed to show your black, red and gold." And boy, we did. And since then, it happened every Euro Cup and every World Cup, no matter if we won or lost. No unfortunate associations anymore, at least not where I could see them. And that is something I love.

So I am proud of the guys. My car has black-red-gold mirror socks, and they will stay on for another week just because. :-)

And you know what? The most awesome side effect of the final game? Germans flew to Brazil just for the finale. Packed their hand luggage, flew to Rio, bought a ticket for the game, celebrated, and got back on the plane to Germany, all within 48 hours. And they all say it was worth it. So from now on, if anyone dares to tell me that I'm crazy to spend a lot of money for a con just to see Christian Kane, I will just smile and say "Rio de Janeiro". HAH. :-)

Uhh... I said last weekend, right? Ahem. But here they are! I only got two, Christian and Georges Jeanty. I wanted Claire Kramer, but she had to drop out of the Con, because she was eight and a half months pregnant and the doc didn't clear her to fly. Hm.. that means there could be a baby already! Gotta look it up.
Anyway, I didn't know the other guests, and I didn't want to miss panels, so no more Op's. Of course, in hindsight I kinda wish I had... *sigh* Oh well. Maybe some other time.

Michael and Jim are from True Blood, Kris and Paul are from Lost Girl. Hank O'Connor also was there, but not in the program. He signed my photo op from Con1. :-)

All guests were fricking awesome. I'm almost done with editing my pics, so that should be soon, and then there will be more details.

So, I'm already halfway to my plane... :-) Tonight at three it's leaving the house for the airport, and then I'm off to London. One day to acclimate, and then The Vampire Ball Con, where a certain blue-eyed cowboy/singer/actor will appear. *squees* Also, Claire Kramer and Georges Jeanty, and some True Blood actors I don't know, but Starfury usually has amazingly entertaining guests, so I'm sure it will be fun.
Also, meeting my girls. See if we can manage a Mexican Boob Wave again...:-) After that I still have a few days for sightseeing, museums, theatre etc.

Since internet is ridiculously expensive on my smartphone, I'll be offline since Saturday 16th. See you then, and behave, y'all!

The owl is home safe, sound and already at work again, in a very sleepy state. I should maybe say "I'm getting too old for this!" but HELL NO. *g* So worth the sleep deprivation!

I know I still owe some comments and memes, I'll get to that when I'm home again. Not forgotten!

Offline until Tuesday the 6th, since internet rates on my smartphone are horrendous when I'm outside of Germany.

Update on the state of the ele:

Painpill treatment is through, my shoulder is much better. I am allowed to do dance class again (very carefully) and I almost felt the rust flaking off my joints... :-) The fog in my brain has lifted mostly, and there's only some tiredness left, but that will go away soon, I hope.

Tomorrow I'll take the train to Berlin to meet up with nairie and spiritcrow and nebulein and luthien82. Wednesday there will be a lot of girls from the Petting Zoo and some girls from Con1 and... what was it... oh, some blond guy who plays guitar:-) If you are looking for me, I'll be the one selling raffle tickets and giving away the prizes after the gig. 
Right now I'm too busy to get all of the work stuff done, I'll get all squee-y and excited when I'm finally sitting in that train!

And when I get home, I have Friday to pack more stuff and then we leave for a four day trip to Prague on Saturday morning. By coach, with my three best RL friends. Oh, that's going to be fun! *bounce*

I will try to tweet from Berlin, but otherwise I'll be offline until Tuesday 2nd of May. I'll be posting another Face Value story tonight though.

Holy shit. *runs around in circles and flails*

One day and a few hours until I leave for London for the Vampire Ball!!

And since I have to work tomorrow and still have to choose my clothes and all, I'm sorry, but I can't catch up with the latest entries and fics. I hope I have saved everything in tabs and will waddle through it when I get back.

I'll be back in Germany on Wednesday the 1st of December. I don't have a phone with internet access, so unless one of my roomies tweets an embarrassing picture/quote/whatever of me, I'll be offline until then.

After that though... heh. Expect much flailing and squeeing. And pics, if I can get decent ones.

And I'll send the next re-draft of "Burn" to my trusty beta havenward  before I take off, so hopefully soon after the Vampire Ball there will be fic. :-))

Oh my God. OhmyGodohmyGodohmyGod. Can't wait to see all my girls, and I still can't believe that I'm going to see Christian and Steve. And Juliet Landau. And Claire Kramer. And whoever else is there. This is surreal. *g*

Folks - I can't believe it. I booked a ticket for the Vampire Ball in London in November. And confirmed guests are - Chris and Steve! Oh my God. I'm going to see Chris and Steve! And there's a concert! Okay, acoustic gig is more accurate I think, but KANE!

Believe me, I spent a good part of Friday/Saturday/Sunday running around in circles, flailing... *g*

A very special thanks to my aunt for her unexpected money present, otherwise I couldn't have afforded it! I'm still aiming for ConCon 2, of course, but there are so many if's and when's in that one... and if it doesn't work out I would kick myself in the butt if I hadn't seen them when they were something like close to home!

Goodness. Hopping the channel is no more expensive than going somewhere south Germany by train... whoa! Okay by me. :-)

I made a deal with my parents so I can get a new camera now as early christmas present. With my old one there's no way I'm getting decent pics of a gig, and with a new one there is a chance. :-)

I'm gonna take notes and do my best for a decent report.:-)

And among the guests are also Juliet Landau and Julie Benz and Claire Kramer. How awesome is that??
