1. (psychiatry) Exhibiting one of the four subtypes of schizoid personality disorder as defined by the American psychiatrist Theodore Millon. Includes features of avoidant personality disorder

Traits

• Distant and removed; inaccessible, solitary, isolated, homeless, disconnected, secluded, aimlessly drifting; peripherally occupied. Seen among people who would have been otherwise capable of developing normal emotional life but having been subjected to intense hostility lost their innate capability to form bonds. Some residual anxiety is present.

• These subtypes are not recognized by the DSM-5 or ICD-11.
• Any individual with schizoid personality disorder may exhibit either none or one of the different subtypes (Millon believes pure personality variants to be rare; instead, personalities typically manifest as a blend of a primary type with a secondary subtype)
