1. (ambitransitive) To be physically capable of going into a space.

   Synonyms: fit into, squeeze in, squeeze into

2. (transitive, figurative) To find or make a place for:
   1. To designate a job, role, or task for.

      Just show up ready for work, and they'll fit you in no matter what your skills are.

   2. To incorporate into a schedule; to create an appointment, slot, or time for.

      Synonyms: squeeze in, work in

      The dentist said he can't fit me in until Thursday.

      I don't have time to work on your house today, but I'll fit it in tomorrow.

3. (intransitive, figurative) To be or become of a like type with others; (especially) to be or become socially accepted.

   Antonym: stick out

   Synonym: belong

   The recluse did not fit in at the party.
