From 中期英語 *Yol-month (found only as Ȝoless moneþþ (literally “Yule's month”)), from 古期英語 ġeohholmōnaþ, Iūlmōnaþ (“December”, literally “Yule-month”), equivalent to Yule +‎ month. Compare West Frisian joelmoanne (“December”), German Julmond (“Yulemonth”).
