Takoba (also Takuba or Takouba) is the sword used across the western Sahel and ethnic groups including the Tuareg, the Hausa, the Fulani and others. It is usually about one meter in length. Takoba blades can exhibit several notable features, including three or more hand-ground fuller grooves and a rounded point. The word itself is Hausa in origin, from takobi, but is in widespread use among other peoples, including the Tuareg and Fulani as a loan word.
