静止画像を交換するためのファイルフォーマットであって,MMR,JPEG(07.02.02参照)などの各種符号化方式を利用可能にしている.
<備考>元々はアルダス社のファイルフォーマットであったが,その後ISOが追認した

米国のアドビ(Adobe)社が考案したカラーイメージデータの共通ファイル形式.仕様公開後,米Microsoft社,米Aldus社が中心となってアプリケーションに導入した.TIFFの共通性を確保するため,Rev5.0の発表と同時にガイドラインを制定し,総てのTIFFアプリケーションはガイドライン別に規定されたTagをTIFFファイル中に必ず埋め込んでおくことを規定した.このガイドラインをTIFF Classという.
静止画像を交換するためのファイルフォーマットであって,MMR,JPEG(07.02.02参照)などの各種符号化方式を利用可能にしている.
