The OSMETA GK01 offers outstanding performance at a fraction of the cost of a Thunderbolt eGPU, and is a far more refined M.2 solution than the fixed-cable offerings from ADT-Link. The TH3P4G2 is an excellent option for an all-in-one eGPU docking station solution or platform for a custom eGPU enclosure. Furthermore, the USB hub, daisy-chain support, power delivery and internal fan header combined with the superior JHL7440 Thunderbolt Controller results in what is probably the most feature-rich eGPU available on the market. While SFX power supplies are readily available, they are more expensive than their ATX counterparts and are not easy to come by second hand. Furthermore, even the shorter SFX PSU cables are an eye-sore without an enclosure shielding them. Aesthetics have always been a downside of an open design.

The TH3P4 has some excellent features. It is extremely small, enables the use of cheap and portable DC power supplies and contains the elusive ability to daisy-chain Thunderbolt devices with the eGPU itself being the first device in the chain. The inclusion of the superior JHL7440 Thunderbolt Controller was a welcome surprise in such an affordable device. However, the design and complete lack of bracing for attached devices leaves much to be desired from an otherwise welcome addition to the market.

The Wikingoo eGPU is a pleasant addition to the eGPU market. As a standalone unit, it is priced well below the popular eGPU enclosures from big brands. The inclusion of a standard ATX power supply mount is excellent. ATX power supplies are cheap and readily available, or even able to be recycled for free from old systems. Furthermore, there are no limitations to graphics card size or power delivery, and the open case can be used as is, mounted under a desk or be modified into a sealed enclosure.

Microsoft released the first Insider Build of Windows 11 (22000.51) earlier this week. To be receiving this build, you’d need to enroll in the Dev Channel of Windows Insider Program. That was only one of the prerequisites. Amongst the minimum system requirements is TPM 2.0. This is a questionable barrier and most likely imposed by OEMs to promote new hardware sales. Announced in July 2020, Thunderbolt 4 laptops with Tiger Lake CPU are becoming available. The two configurations I’ve been looking for are i7-1165G7 and i7-1185G7 with iGPU only. Best Buy started selling the HP Spectre X360 earlier this week and I got one yesterday. Thanks to the 15-in footprint and no dGPU, the cooling system is working surprisingly well. The CPU is set at 28W and can run consistently at 3.3GHz and temps hovering around low 70s Celsius.
