San Jacinto Wilderness

Day 16 ⋅ Mile 163
· 33.68° N, 116.58° W · Updated on Sun, 8 September 2024

Fifty miles and four days to cross the San Jacinto mountain range. Let’s hope the weather forecasts aren’t too adverse: we have already climbed well above the usual altitude—we are almost at two thousand meters tonight—and forecasts suggest that until Friday temperatures will be dropping due to a small, maybe harmless, storm system. We shouldn’t risk heavy rain, but we’ll probably get close to zero before dawn/sunset, it might be even a few degrees below due to the wind chill effect.
