R. Ambedkar. This paper seeks to explore the difference and similarities in their views. Both Ambedkar and Dumont have written extensively on caste. While Ambedkar belong to the Mahar community (schedule caste family), Dumont came from France. Ambedkar being a schedule caste witnessed everything much more closely as compared to Dumont. The caste system is one of the oldest forms of social stratification and even though it may be prohibited by the law, the political divisions continue to exist in the minds of the people leaving many oppressed. In the caste system, the people are divided into the categories or caste. The existence of rigid ranking is supernaturally validated through the idea of rebirth according to a person’s karma, the sum of an individual’s deeds in this life and in past life’s. After death, a person’s life is judged by divine forces, and rebirth is assigned in a high or a low place, depending upon what is deserved this supernatural sanction can never be neglected, because it brings a person to his or her position in the caste hierarchy, relevant to every transaction involving food or drink speaking or touching.

This paper seek to explore the caste ideology of private schools in selected area and how it become the underline structure for the teachers to explain the lower caste and their problem in the history textbook in a line which fit into the caste ideology. This paper also explores how a particular caste ideology of the school attracts the students from the same caste background (this can be documentized with the help of documents and research). This paper will argue that the idea of merit and reservation is an outcome of the pedagogic activity of the school which is in fact ideological in itself. Though there are no reservations on the basis of castes in schools but still caste is playing a huge role in attracting students.
