O presente artigo enfoca o 'tempo social', como distinto das compreensões desse fenômeno ... more O presente artigo enfoca o 'tempo social', como distinto das compreensões desse fenômeno na física; o tempo social habita o discurso, o habitus, expresso pela prática como um meio sobre o qual as ações humanas são formuladas de acordo com as possibilidades lógicas que fornece. Reconhecidamente, o cristianismo propôs uma forma histórica linear, como um processo contínuo embora ainda sagrado, pontuado por intervenções divinas. No entanto, essa história linear sacralizada só poderia ser adequadamente entendida por meio do sistema medieval exegético; um conjunto de regras intelectuais organizadas racionalmente para a reconstrução da história através de sinais e símiles inativos. Biograficamente, o trabalho de Agostinho de Hipona forneceu ferramentas para essas interpretações. José de Alencar (1829–1877) is one of the most relevant names in Brazilian Romantic literature of... more José de Alencar (1829–1877) is one of the most relevant names in Brazilian Romantic literature of the nineteenth century, and an important politician of the Conservative Party. This work attempts to provide a glimpse of major influences from European Romanticism, highlighting the way it brought a Christian notion of a linear and positivist history to Brazilian political arena. A documental research is made on two non-literary publications: Systema Representativo (1868) and A Propriedade (posthumously published in 1883) seeking to pinpoint the notion of iconic linear time as an ideological colonisation of political discourses through the Romantic stylistic approach of Alencar.

The present essay focuses on 'social time', as distinct from the concept of this phenomenon on th... more The present essay focuses on 'social time', as distinct from the concept of this phenomenon on the scope of physics. Social time here inhabits the discourse, the habitus, expressed through practice as a medium over which human actions are formulated according to the logical possibilities it provides. Christianity knowingly propounded a linear history, as an endless process, and albeit sacred, punctuated by divine interventions. However, this linear sacralized history could only be properly understood with an exegetic medieval system; a set of intellectual rules rationally organized for the reconstruction of history through dormant signs and similes. The work of Augustine of Hippo provided tools for these interpretations. We attempt to demonstrate that we can find foundations of a Christian model of social time in his works, being 'indexical', as a meaning-creating process based on a retrospective reading of the linear history, an open book prone to interpretation. Augustine's formulations about a psychological time, as a founding father of Christian theology, provide some important cues to this social notion of indexical time, and how it became so central to Western culture.

A relação de perfis virtuais com a construção de identidades individuais - e os conflitos disto r... more A relação de perfis virtuais com a construção de identidades individuais - e os conflitos disto resultantes - são assuntos recorrentes em pesquisas sobre cibercultura, mas há um vasto terreno para pesquisa sobre um aspecto peculiar desta relação, que é a dimensão da temporalidade. Citamos aqui o conceito de status como capacidade de estar online sem estar presente. Quando a comunicação humana é mediada por alguma plataforma tecnológica, ela acaba imbuída do poder de desincronizar o processo de troca de informações, e a comunicação assíncrona resultante - acrescida de um caráter temporalizado - recebe novas potencialidades significativas. Entre elas, a ausência de ausência, ou - como chamamos - metapermanência, isto é, um status em rede que serve de suporte para uma consciência enquanto esta está ausente, porém conectada. Quais os impactos, afinal, desta extensão da consciência para seus interlocutores, ou mesmo para o ato comunicativo? Qual a profundidade do impacto cultural de se poder estabelecer contato com uma pessoa ausente porém “online”, ou a sensação de presença permanente frente ao sentimento de saudade? Como a certeza de uma metapresença afeta a questão da saudade? A simulação de presença afeta de qual forma a produção e enunciação de mensagens? Estas são algumas questões que aventamos a oportunidade de abordar

Cronotopos - formulações culturais de espaço-tempo que elucidam o conceito de temporalidade e o r... more Cronotopos - formulações culturais de espaço-tempo que elucidam o conceito de temporalidade e o ritmo da processualidade material significativa - são aqui tomados pelas relações semióticas espaço-temporais que organizam ações políticas. Empreitamos no presente trabalho, a investigação do texto cultural do neoliberalismo de Friedrich Hayek, John Maynard Keynes e Ludwig von Mises, através da observação de seu cronotopo, isto é, concepção temporal que leva à ação, e a forma como este cronotopo se relaciona com as premissas desta posição política. Pudemos, através da leitura covalente entre as esferas da ação e do discurso, identificar traços do cronotopo de tipo Adventure-time na perspectiva dos pensadores supracitados, sobretudo no estabelecimento de estados de realidade e a subsequente manufatura de rituais de mudança galgados na suposta autossuficiência racional. Por fim, advogamos pela relevância do cronotopo como elemento de análise de processos que relacionem discurso e ação para as ciências sociais.

Este processo situa os instrumentos de tecnologia
no centro do imaginário científico de nossa época e confere a eles um status quasi-mítico, de inexorável revelação da verdade. Entender a forma como uma inteligência artificial é montada a partir das crenças
aquele que a cria, esclarece o motivo pelo qual não se pode considerar aparatos de tecnologia como instrumentos inquestionáveis de mensuração do mundo, tampouco como instrumentos de organização do mundo social, como softwares de previsão de crimes já amplamente utilizados, que no tangente à legislação, transforma o processo tecnológico em argumento jurídico, sem considerar a ideologia incutida na base de seu processo de programação e operações internas. Para tanto, o trabalho acessa duas esferas principais; A primeira, reforça a necessária reavaliação de “tecnologia” como aparato, como objeto, argumentando que o tecnológico deve ser compreendido como Ideologia, e portanto, apenas tornado tangível na esfera da processualidade, ou materialização ritual, habitus, modus, e prática. A segunda parte é a investigação da forma de estruturação de inteligências artificiais (AI) atuais, direcionando o questionamento sobre
os processos da programação de máquinas em que abrem-se as brechas para a ideologia do programador, pelas quais o datum (res) torna-se “realidade legível” e manipulável no cálculo maquínico.
The entertainment serves a social function and is established by the economic-politic management ... more The entertainment serves a social function and is established by the economic-politic management of social time and functions. Entertainment is the opposite of labor time, but confluent to ideology. The management of an ideology consumes every aspect of social roles of an individual’s life, and must be understood as belonging to no specific character, but instead, as a whole disembodied movement that aims and controls its values by the management of the appropriative discourse of a given reality - Habitus. In this article it is presented the fundamental aspects of the disembodiment of the notion of ideology and its relation to the construction of modern economic politics and the function of the entertainment by the creation and control of Cultural Texts as fundamental ideological documents. As a case of study, it is studied here the multiple narrative layers contained in the latest Hollywood movie Godzilla, a comparison to its first version in 1954 in Japan and its political causes, and the aspect of Politics of Fear, as well as the political metaphors within the discourse of power in consumable popular entertainment.
Looking history and theorizing retrospectively, this essay proposes a reencounter with the famous... more Looking history and theorizing retrospectively, this essay proposes a reencounter with the famous letters of 1938 about the role of Expressionism facing the seizure of power of Nazi Regime in Germany, as contemplated by Ernst Bloch, Georg Lucáks and Bertolt Brecht, casting the elementary questions that arouse within the universe of theses discussions and dividing them in four substantial topics covered throughout the letters, being ‘the problems of cultural reality’, ‘history and language’, ‘artistic movement and technique’ and ‘freedom and creativity’. To each of these topics, a parallel is traced with nowadays known Lotman’s theories of culture, in which no conclusions are expected, but instead, an increase of complexity and fundamentally, the reformulation of the inquiries as a supposed effect of the surfacing new questioning paradigms, made possible with the dialectic concepts of Lotman juxtaposed to a classical discussion on culture as the object.

The aspect of non-materiality of the moral construct within a culture is juxtaposed to the dimensions of a text and its three spheres as presented by Yuri Lotman, namely: Inner-structure, Semantics and Function within a Culture. The dialectical element of the text in the pragmatic sphere – or function – is the most important element to be considered in order to understand and track the reasons and ways the establishment of the official, sacred, trustful, truthful texts, in detriment of their natural negations. The movement of cultural violence, determining a text not by its formulation but enforcing a cultural function can sometimes appear before or after a given text, projecting the means by the ends – commoditization of texts -, or like in the case studied here, a supposedly accidental minimum transformation in the structure of the text elevates it into a whole new level of cultural function.
The Aristotelian doctrine and its undeniable influence in western thought created some of the fun... more The Aristotelian doctrine and its undeniable influence in western thought created some of the fundamental premises in the way it is structured the human comprehension and description of animals, and most of this influence is presented in his work called De Anima. In an elaborated project, a methodical division of Faculties of perception, desire and movement along with the concept of Phantasia, lead to an even more fundamental notion that stood long related to the scientific knowledge even reaching the early Darwinism; the notion of the dualism Body and Soul and its interrelations as the underlining notion for the attribution of function to form and body as performance. Furthermore, the application of this concepts in the analysis of literary use of animals as metaphor is a way to provide the basis for the explanation of the permanent presence of animals in cultural documents, commonly considered as embodied morals, holders of human qualities by means of their body performances, and also the problem of the inverted causality effect over Aristotelian concepts. In this paper, these issues are contemplated in two parts: the first is an analysis of the main elements in Aristotelian thought about the constitution of animal’s body and soul, and the second is a brief exposition of two documental examples of moral attributed to animals, being Iliad of Homer and Thus Spoke Zarathustra of F.W. Nietzsche.

The effects of the new media, social media and the imperatives of the speed and information in Post-modernism are also contemplated in relation to the events that frame the object of this paper.

Much have been done in a long process of formulation of the modern thought towards what comes to ... more Much have been done in a long process of formulation of the modern thought towards what comes to be renown as Sign, from the first sight of a thing involved with a mystical meaning deriving from the deepest comprehension among the religious men from the archaic cultures, to the most complex and evolved modern science themata that guides the eyes and the intentions underlining every step in human discovery process. The discourse is being constantly reformatted to fit the spectacle of the new discoveries, discourse that was gradually transformed from lines in plain texts into technical images and their power of representation of a fictitious world, but essentially on the very basis, something remains untouched and still reserves its mystical value, having crossed the enlightenment process and acquiring a new configuration. In this paper, a brief historical process of the Sign will be drawn in the attempt to demonstrate that there are various mystical elements from the scholastic period that are still present on the modern mode of thinking and comprehending of a Sign, that can drive its conclusion into something transcendentally connected, in between humans and gods, knowledge and deities, the logic and the cosmos. The Signs studies, thus, remain in a certain aspect of obscurity.

This essay is a brief overview of Bakhtin's main concepts as presented on his book entitled "Marxism and Philosophy of Language", more strictly focusing in the two first chapters; the first being The Study of Ideologies and Philosophy of Language, and the second "Concerning the Relationship of Basis and Superstructure", juxtaposed to the phenomena of the modern social discourse of the destruction, and the perception of Damage according to various journalistic articles throughout history. These two chapters from Bakhtin's were chosen by providing a wide range of theories for social analysis within a semiotic framework, as well as a solid, concise and direct critical argumentation that allows the studies of modern phenomena and the imperatives of Logos over Doxa after the historical enlightenment process.

Aqui são cruzados elementos como o binarismo socrático e a tríade aristotélica, as dimensões e a acepção metafísica, linguagem cultural e a quebra do Eu, questões de abordagem fenomenológica e existencialista, assim como aspectos políticos envolvidos na formalização do conhecimento instrumentalizado. A utilização destes objetos tecnológicos em pedagogia, observados durante um percurso do entendimento, propicia ou distancia o Ente de seu mundo? Haveria na formalização do mundo à métrica matemática e as formas dos novos simuladores, geradores, projetores, a reconstrução de um universo já compreendido e a exclusão do absoluto devir de onde as causas dialéticas não fossem determinadas?
