Last night, I spent most of the evening recording parts for a 'studio' version of "Getting Geeky" (a live performance video of which is here—beware, the video starts automatically). It's coming along really well! I've still got to work on the ending and the instrumental bridge a bit, but I should have a workable draft done fairly soon.
The recording will be going onto my next album, Doctor, Captain, Dovahkiin, Chief, along with "Spoilers", "The Man Dressed In Brown", "Too Much Skyrim Blues", "Smells Like Beam Rifle" (not one of mine, rather written by the inestimable John Kovalic of Dork Tower fame), and seven to ten other songs.
In fact, of the songs I have yet to record that could potentially go onto the album, which ones do you think they should be?

I've heard recently from multiple sources that Obama's "six point lead" over McCain has "evaporated" since the end of the RNC, or that it has dipped low enough that it's "within the margin of error".
Of course, the sources for this are generally conservative blogs or articles on conservative websites, but they do back their claims up with actual polls.
Unfortunately, they fail the rigorous journalism test: they're generally only using one to three polls to base their numbers on.

In this poll and this poll, I asked you all what line worked best to complete my new song, "Don't Go to California".
Well, the results are in, and the line "No bigger egos anywhere" has won, narrowly beating out "They'll say you're wrong and call you 'square'".
I'd like to thank everyone who suggested a line under the "other" category:

talonvaki for "their arrogance cannot compare"

buddhawolf for "They're all just really unaware"

And if I'd thought any of these would have worked better than the winning like, I would have used it, but alas, as great as some of these were, they just didn't quite fit the mood/theme I was going for. Nevertheless, they were awesome, and you should be proud!

My question to you all is this: Is YouTube a waste of time? I'm getting hits on my videos, but really not that many. I'm getting some positive comments, but just as many negative ones. I'm getting some positive ratings, but, again, just as many negative ones. And no one seems to be going from the YouTube channel to the website to listen to more music, buy CDs, or download songs from CDBaby or iTunes.
So it seems to be doing me no real good, overall, just taking up time.
What do you think?
