Sunday afternoon at ConDor, my band, In My Humble Opinion, performed our story-set "Won't You Scatter My Ashes" for a crowd of about twenty people.
We rocked the house!
Seriously, I think it was one of the best shows I've ever participated in. Everything came together perfectly. The sound was dialed in exactly right (by awesome sound man Greg Gross), the audience was engaged and enthusiastic, and the band was in the zone. Everyone had a wonderful time, and the experience has renewed my excitement about this whole musical endeavor called I.M.H.O. We made nearly $100 in sales, and nearly the same amount was donated to Superpiggie to fund the album.
Yes, indeed, I.M.H.O. is going to record this story-set as an album! We hope we'll have something by the time we perform our next show, which at this point looks like ConJecture/ConChord in October. Also, the whole show was recorded on video, so there will be new videos up on YouTube in the near future! :D
This show is very much what I needed to get me feeling good about performing again. I had almost given up hope. I know that some of that was neurochemical in nature, but today I am happy. Here's to feeling happy tomorrow, too, and for many days after.
Sinuses still hurt. But not as much. I think the herbal gunk is finally starting to do some good. Also, I figured out how to make it tolerable: mix it with Emergen-C. The tangerine flavoring and the sugar serve to cut the horrid, grass-like* flavor of the herbs to a still-noticeable but mostly-okay aftertaste. And hey, some extra Vitamin C isn't going to hurt, either.
Still no word from the doctor about the sinuplasty. I think it may be time for me to call them back and poke them about it.
And, apropos of nothing in particular, this may just be the cutest thing ever: Grumpy Cat Plush from ThinkGeek.

*That's grass-like, not "like grass". Alas, if it only tasted as good as grass does, I might be able to handle it better.
This past weekend was my second trip to Seattle, WA, for the second annual Seattle Browncoats' GeekFest. Despite what I said in this post, I wasn't the only one who performed both days; Hello, The Future! also had a set on Sunday by popular demand. As usual, she was awesome.
The performances were in the main auditorium on Saturday, but for Sunday, they moved the first three acts (myself, HTF, and Firebird's Children) to the stage in the vendor area, and that worked out very well. The vendors were happy to be able to hear the performances, and the shoppers were happy to be able to listen and shop at the same time. Also, both HTF's and my CD sales went up* (I don't think Firebird's Children had anything for sale).
Also, there will be video! K Wiley did multi-camera video of all the performances, and he got the files to me before the end of the day on Sunday, so I have lots of video to play with. This makes me happy.
As I mentioned on the FB page, I sold completely out of Geek Mythology fairly early on Sunday and had to resort to having people order it from the CDBaby ordering page. Fortunately, that worked out fairly well. I also sold out of the copies of Just Me and My Guitar v2.0 and Mirrors that I had brought with me, but that was fairly late in the day, so that didn't affect my sales quite so much.
I also took a bunch of photographs of various performers throughout the weekend. I haven't processed them yet, but when I do, I'll be putting them up at the Or It Didn't Happen Photography website.
I had a blast! If they do this again next year, I will totally be there.

*Although HTF's sales were something like four times mine in terms of dollar amount. I'm thinking I need more t-shirts and hoodies in my inventory. ;-)
Last year's GeekFest was super-awesome, and that was only one day long. This year's is the whole weekend, with at least nine different performing acts (including Vixy & Tony; Hello, The Future!; Kirby Krackle; and Firebird's Children) and a good couple of dozen craft vendors. And get this—I'm the only act who is performing on both days! Yeah, I was a bit surprised, too, but totally stoked!
My friends at Timeshift Arts have asked me to do some photography of their jewelry line for their website and online store. To accomplish this, I need models. Specifically, I'm looking for women who are willing to model earrings, necklaces, pendants, bracelets, etc. against either bare skin or neutral-colored Victorianesque clothing.
Here are some examples of their jewelry line:
Unfortunately, this is currently only open to those who are in or near San Diego, CA (either those who live here or those visiting the area). Normally I would be willing to travel for a job, but this one is pro bono, so there is no travel budget. Also, we cannot pay models for this assistance, but Timeshift Arts is willing to give a discount on any jewelry purchased from them to anyone who models their wares. This is also an ongoing project, so even if you're not available soon, please consider scheduling something in the future.
I'm participating in my neighborhood's yearly community yard/garage sale at the end of April. It's my first time participating, so I'm probably going to end up having a LOT of stuff to sell. Especially since there are boxes under the house that never got unpacked after I thought I was going to move . . . in 2002!
The auction for the Martin Backpacker is going very well. As of post time, it's up to $147.50. And I thought it wasn't even going to top $100. I'm quite pleased.
I did another photo shoot with Alexia over the weekend. I haven't had time to process the photos yet, though, and it might be a couple more days before I can get to them. But I think this shoot has some very good potential. A lot of the images looked awesome in preview (on the camera).
I'm working on material for a new photography website, which will be for my not-so-new photography business. This is the site for which I asked the question about what makes you say "Pics or it didn't happen" last week. It's going to be exciting (for me, anyway; hopefully for others, too).
I've owned this guitar for over ten years now, but I haven't played it for nearly six, so I think it's time to give it a new home. Incidentally, this is the guitar on which I composed "Black Train" in 2001 while I was on a business trip to Germany.
Write or call me on FaceBook or my Google number (DM private). I have no fear, love what you do, and have almost unlimited time (permanently disabled, natch).
I've always thought of computer "role playing" games as more "roll playing" (you have a "piece" -- your character -- and you're able to take some actions, and a "roll of the dice" determines success…

I will definitely give you a call in the next few days,…
I want to do this for you, brother.…
