Esta ponencia recoge los resultados de un estudio descriptivo adelantado durante 2011-2012, por el grupo de investigación de Lingüística y Comunicación Organizacional de la Universidad EAN. Su objetivo principal fue adelantar caracterizar, interpretar y comprender los procesos de comunicación escrita (de tipo empresarial) a los que se enfrentan los estudiantes en el momento de asumir sus prácticas profesionales, de manera que, desde la universidad, pueda acercarse los requerimientos de la academia a las dinámicas comunicativas de las organizaciones en la actualidad.

El propósito del estudio fue enseñar tanto la escritura como la pronunciación de varias palabras en chino(L2) a un grupo de doce estudiantes de psicología dela Universidad Nacional sin ningún conocimiento previo de L2; con este propósito, los estudiantes fueron asignados aleatoriamente a tres grupos para responder a una prueba de equivalencia con presentación de estímulos demorada en 0, 5 y 10segundos respectivamente. Se encontró que en comparación con los grupos de menor demora, los estudiantes asignados al grupo de demora 10segundos se mostraron más distraídos y se desempeñaron peor, lo que resulta incongruente con la literatura revisada, razón por la cual la hipótesis de trabajo fue rechazada.

Knowledge sharing is understood as the social interaction through which individuals exchange their tacit and explicit knowledge with others. Tacit knowledge is difficult to formalize, transfer and communicate to other individuals, and it is a result of experience, talent, and reflections of individuals. Conversely, explicit knowledge is formalized, codified, and easier to transmit. The focus of this study was on four organizational conditions associated with knowledge sharing: culture, training, strategic clarity, and information technology support. Although the relationship between organizational conditions and knowledge sharing has been investigated, there are few studies about whether organizational conditions impact tacit and explicit knowledge sharing differently. The current research studied the relationship between cultural values and tacit and explicit knowledge sharing behavior in the context of sustainable organizations. The sample consisted of 751 workers from Colombian organizations. It was found that sharing explicit and tacit knowledge correlated with the cultural dimensions of uncertainty avoidance, individualism–collectivism, and paternalism. On the other side, sharing tacit and explicit knowledge did not correlate with the cultural dimensions of power distance and masculinity–femininity. For organizational managers interested in knowledge sharing, a lesson is to facilitate environments of low uncertainty, care about the needs of workers, and have high collective values such as respect and interest in what others do. Culture influences the way people can be managed successfully according to the organizational objectives including sustainability. Hofstede´s cultural dimensions have been widely studied in different contexts. Dorfman and Howell designed an instrument in English to measure those dimensions. However, there is no validated Spanish version for this instrument. The objective of this article is to provide to the Ibero-American community a Spanish version of the Dorfman and Howell instrument. The questionnaire was translated into Spanish and adapted to the Chilean and Colombian populations. The study included 1136 participants, 500 from Chile and 636 from Colombia. Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis were supported by the KMO and the Bartlett tests. Results indicate a better fit of a five-factor model, in similarity with the English language original instrument, as follows: masculinity–femininity, paternalism, power distance, uncertainty avoidance, and individualism–collectivism....

Innovational leadership is a set of practices and skills that leaders develop to promote innovative behaviors in their workers at the individual and collective levels. This is a novel concept focused on one role of leaders: the facilitation of the generation of new or significantly improved products and services. Previous studies with other styles of leadership have shown that transformational leadership encourages a climate for innovative work behaviors, while transactional leadership influences exploitative innovation activities. Knowledge sharing involves the transfer of experience and expertise to facilitate business development and the accomplishment of organizational objectives. Self-efficacy is an individual´s confidence in their abilities to execute a particular task. It influences learning and performance. This research studied whether innovational leadership influences two types of knowledge sharing: tacit and explicit. At the same time, the role of self-efficacy as a mediator variable was evaluated. The sample consisted of 415 workers from different sectors in Colombia. According to the results, innovational leadership positively influenced tacit and explicit knowledge, although the effect on tacit knowledge was higher. Finally, self-efficacy played a mediator role in the relationship between innovational leadership and knowledge sharing. Additional research is suggested to explore the differences between innovational leadership and other types of leadership in the process of sharing tacit and explicit knowledge. At the same time, complementary investigations about the dynamics of innovational leadership are needed to understand why it affects more tacit knowledge than explicit knowledge.

This study aimed to determine characteristic profiles of the Millennial generation based on their sociodemographic features and motivational preferences regarding work. It contributes to the literature on Millennial motivation and provides insights for organizations seeking to better understand and manage said generation. Design/Methodology: The study was conducted on a sample of 197 questionnaire responses from individuals in the Millennial generation who had work experience. Measuring financial capabilities among young people poses a challenge for scholars. In this study, we developed a set of ten scales to assess various behaviors, attitudes, and knowledge, allowing for a comprehensive examination of the construct. We designed a pool of items and invited 746 participants, aged 16 to 29, who were divided into two groups for studying the psychometric properties of the tests. The first group underwent an Exploratory Factor Analysis, while the second group underwent a Confirmatory Factor Analysis. Through these analyses, we identified five dimensions of financial behaviors, four dimensions of financial attitudes, and one dimension of knowledge or financial literacy. The scales were combined to measure two financial capabilities: Financial Saving Capability and Responsible Debt Management Capability. Furthermore, we identified distinct profiles of young people associated with each proposed financial capability. Finally, we offer a conceptual discussion of the financial capabilities construct, present scales with reliable and valid measurements, and propose avenues for future research.

This exploratory study aimed to discern and comprehend the social media usage patterns and their perceived impact on mental health among Generation Z students at a Colombian university. Employing a mixed methods approach, data were collected from 361 Colombian Gen Z individuals. A focus group guide and a self-reported questionnaire, informed by focus group results, were utilized to evaluate diverse constructs. Qualitative data underwent iterative categorization (IC), while quantitative data underwent statistical analysis using SPSS software. Participants predominantly utilized social media for communication and entertainment, with indications of a link between social media use and anxiety. However, participants did not perceive social media as significantly influential in their decision-making processes or relationships. Notably, female participants reported higher anxiety levels. This study of Colombian Gen Z freshmen unveiled social media's notable influence on body image, mental health, and social rewards. It underscores the necessity for tailored interventions to foster positive online experiences, address gender-specific challenges, and reassess brand engagement strategies within this demographic. Additionally, it highlights the need for further research within the Colombian university context. Though the employed instrument exhibited acceptable validity and reliability levels, future research could benefit from enhancements. This paper represents the initial endeavor to analyze social media consumption among Generation Z in Colombia through a mixed methods approach. Examining social media consumption patterns and their impact on mental health contributes to academic discourse on this relationship, informing the design of appropriate pedagogic strategies while considering reported gender differences. This study contributes valuable insights into the intricate interplay between social media use and mental health among Colombian Gen Z students. Addressing these dynamics is pivotal in formulating targeted interventions and strategies to support the mental well-being of this demographic within university settings. Future investigations should focus on refining measurement tools and delving deeper into nuanced aspects of social media's influence on mental health within educational environments.

Considerations on verbal politeness in the foreign language classroom: some examples in French and Spanish

Abstract:

Language uses reflect politeness.  Based on the results of two researches developed in France and Colombia (Mestre, 2001, 2008) and on the analyses of several language interferences of Colombian speakers using French, this article minds to show that languages are not isomorphic, but have particular uses, which are deeply related to the cultural logics of each society.
The problem of linguistic variation in the expression of politeness is approached by taking greetings and the use of the second person pronouns in French and Spanish as units of analyze, in order to understand the perceptions deployed towards pragmatics aspects in the French language class in the Colombian context. This article also relies on film data, since films are a valuable tool for the study of linguistic forms that describe a speech community. Therefore, the study of these issues aims to develop a contrastive view of languages / cultures, as well as the interaction between teachers and students concerning speech data as close (as possible) to real language usages.

Aspectos de la cortesía verbal en el aula de lengua extranjera: estudio de algunos ejemplos en francés y en español

Resumen:

Los usos lingüísticos reflejan la cortesía verbal. A partir de dos investigaciones desarrolladas en Francia y en Colombia (Mestre, 2001, 2008) y de reflexiones sobre algunas interferencias de colombianos al hablar francés, se muestra cómo las lenguas no son isomorfas, sino que presentan usos particulares, asociados a las lógicas culturales propias de cada sociedad.
Para abordar el problema de la variación en la expresión de la cortesía verbal, se toma como unidad de análisis el empleo de los saludos y de los pronombres de segunda persona del singular, en francés y en español, con miras a ilustrar el manejo que se le está dando a los aspectos pragmáticos en FLE dentro del ámbito educativo colombiano. 
Este artículo se apoya igualmente en corpus cinematográficos, pues los filmes constituyen una valiosa herramienta para el análisis de las formas lingüísticas representativas de una comunidad de habla. Por consiguiente, el estudio de estos aspectos busca desarrollar una visión contrastiva de las lenguas / culturas, así como la interacción entre docentes y alumnos en torno a un material que se acerca (en gran medida) a los usos auténticos del lenguaje.

Una crítica al famoso libro de Elena Poniatowska que mantiene lo que pasó en el año 1968 poco antes de la Olimpiadas en Ciudad de México Elena Poniatowska, periodista y escritora nacida en Francia, recopiló en el libro "La noche de Tlatelolco" testimonios de la trágica noche del 2 de octubre de 1968 en la que estudiantes, empleados, campesinos, obreros, profesores,niños,ancianos, padres, madres y soldados fueron asesinados en la ciudad de México en la Plaza de las Tres Cultura en el conjunto de Tlatelolco. El libro se divide en tres partes, prólogo, ganar la calle y la noche de Tlatelolco. La autora muestra los diferentes puntos a favor y encontra del movimiento estudiantil, en el que los estudiantes reclamaban que el ejército saliera del politécnico,la destitución de los jefes policiales, desaparecer el cuerpo de granaderos y la libertad de los presos políticos, ya que la fuerza pública estaba abusando de su poder pues el 29 de de julio la preparatoria Ildelfonso recibió un bazucazo destruyendo la puerta. A partir de los testimonios dados, el gobierno fue quien dio la orden de tomar la Plaza de las Tres Culturas para darle fin a las manifestaciones pues el 12 de octubre se daba inicio a las Olimpiadas de México. Aquí una foto del bazukazo https Los testimonios mostrados en el libro hacen que el lector vuelva a cada momento vivido por los entrevistados. Al inicio se logra sentir la emoción en la que la autora describe cómo los estudiantes generan que gran parte de la comunidad se interese en el movimiento ya que nunca en la historia de México se había visto tanta gente involucrada en una manifestación. Además de que se presentan diferentes imágenes de los estudiantes, los presos políticos y la Plaza de las tres culturas. Niños, viejos, obreros, todos con curiosidad de ver qué pasaba, ver la razón por la que los jóvenes del Politécnico ,la UNAM y distintas universidades se reunían a repartir volantes y gritar tonadas al mismo tiempo. "Hasta dónde vamos a llegar. ¡Únete pueblo!': los que permanecían de pie en la acera se unían a algún contingente y se echaban a andar" Poniatowska 1968. Todos eran uno.Se muestra cómo las rivalidades y amarguras de los mexicanos quedan de lado. Todos buscaban lo mismo, todos querían igualdad y una vida digna, manifestar representaba para ellos el por fin pedir al gobierno que les prestaran atención a los que verdaderamente lo necesitaban. Parecía que por fin los manifestantes iban a ser escuchados, con más de cien mil personas unidas al movimiento, el gobierno tenía que ceder a los diálogos públicos que los líderes del movimiento exigían. Pero esa no fue la respuesta, la noche del 2 de octubre hombres con un pañuelo blanco en la mano, enviados por el gobierno, dan la orden de abrir fuego contra quienes estaban en la Plaza de las Tres Culturas. Mientras se avanza con los testimonios de cómo se vivió la masacre, la autora acierta en enseñar que cada testimonio en el libro exprese de manera clara el cómo las diferentes personas sintieron segundo a segundo desde el inicio del tiroteo hasta que se dejan de oír los disparos al amanecer.De esta manera, si el lector quiere una idea más precisa de lo que pasó aquella noche, este libro es la mejor opción.                                                                 Rev.esc.adm.negEl artículo busca identificar el impacto urbano y la formulación de las políticas públicas migratorias que se aplican como efecto de regulación; es importante tenerlas en cuenta para el buen funcionamiento y desarrollo del mismo, puesto que las personas desplazadas, que están presentes en la ciudad, no siempre contribuyen positivamente al desarrollo urbano y esto hace que la efectividad de las políticas públicas implementadas no siempre se cumplan o se implementen en su cabalidad. Esto invita a que se formulen e identifiquen las políticas públicas para establecer un control de las personas que tienen el derecho de habitar.
