This seems like a good habit, and a good antidote to a just-crushing-enough-to-be-very-distracting headache. So! Five things I'm grateful for tonight:

1. My apartment with heat included in the rent is nice and toasty despite the cold wind that is literally rattling the windows.

2. My new book is selling well and nine lovely people have reviewed it on Amazon!

3. This long and complicated and lovely Teen Wolf a/b/o fic which made an excellent antidote to all the adulting I had to do today.

4. The grocery store had the tub of freshly-packed shredded roast chicken AND the bread freshly baked with roasted garlic, so my inability to actually assemble components into proper meals did not deter me from having a tasty and semi-respectable dinner tonight.

5. The lovely alby_mangroves' really good and helpful beta on the fic I will be posting Very Soon Now, once I am done carefully considering whether the Winter Soldier SHOULD be carrying more knives, and what I was even trying to say in that really muddled paragraph....

Also the trajectory from HTP terrifying captivity mutual-dub-con sex to RIDICULOUS CURTAINFIC is… possibly a built in bait and switch that will satisfy no one?? But whatever, it’s my ridiculous self-indulgent Hulk/Bucky bunny and I’ve written 73 words of it so it’s probably premature to worry about its reception.

This week I treated fic writing just like professional writing, in that I got stuck and then (mostly) unstuck, deleted a lot of stuff, and didn’t do any work on it after 6:30pm or on weekends.

Slavefic #4 (the one about Steve): 411, after deleting pretty much all the words I wrote last week. Still managed to be further forward afterward, but… not much, obviously.

This week was not a good one for writing–partly for fun reasons (I was at vividcon from Thursday evening to Sunday!!!) and partly for un-fun reasons (my anxiety got kicked into REALLY HIGH GEAR on Tuesday and it took me until Thursday to be functional enough to, say, spend a weekend interacting fairly normally with other people, let alone writing anything.) SO! Let’s see how far I got in a not-so-great week, shall we?

Current anonymous trashmeme fill: 884, close enough to being finished that it is a bit embarrassing every time I work on it that I am not just. finishing. already.

Pillow Box Fill #2 - Bathtime: 102, which is what happens when I get antsy because I haven’t written ANYTHING in DAYS and then sit down to write something and realize I still do not have the wherewithal to actually write for more than a few minutes. Still, better than nothing!

…Because sometimes people wonder what I’m writing, and I thought it might be useful to post regularly-ish about where all my words are going? So! A status update on the WIPs I’m juggling.

Born in the Blood: 1,144 words this week, so I’ve now got a little over 3,200 words of Chapter 8. One scene left to write before I can actually post a new chapter!!

Slavefic #3 (which I guess now is #4? the one about Steve): 1,003 words this week, so it now stands at 29,457 words. Two or three chapters to go, maybe another 10-15,000 words? Oh man, it is weird to think about actually finishing this, it has taken soooo looooong. But we’re getting there!

Bucky/Steve consensual sexy ageplay nobody asked for: 1,441 words this week, so it now stands at 10,040 words. Two major events left in the story, so maybe only 6-8,000 words before I can unleash this particular unholiness on the world, completing my stressed-out-spring trifecta of “Bucky is extremely vulnerable and Steve takes care of him” h/c stories. 

Post-CACW depressed woobie Sam/Steve fic: 589 words this week, for a total of 4,595. I think I have reached the lowest point Sam gets to in this story, so now I gotta start inflecting upward, maybe another 5-10,000 words to go.

Current anonymous trashmeme fill: 1,258 words this week, maybe two or three thousand left to go. Mmmmm, fluffy post-trash-recovery porn. (Yeah, I am the most anonymous, you cannot possibly crack my code.)

Pillow Box Fill #2 - Bathtime: 1,326 words this week, none of which involve Threetoo being in the actual bath yet. I am not good at writing short tumblr ficlets that are actually short, guys. But now I just need to write the bath part, which cannot possibly be more than a couple thousand words, right? Like. 5k, tops.

Bucky’s broken dick epic (aka the WIP codenamed Aluminum Bastard): 41 Chapters / 155,153 words
Act III so far, spanning fffive? days of internal time: 8 Chapters / 31,653 words
Stuff remaining to write in Act III: Maybe... four more chapters? I’ve been revising my thoughts on where this Act ends and the next one starts.
Broken dick status: Agonizingly almost fixed but still not.
Acts left to write after this one: IV, and V. Which means we’re actually turning the corner into things… getting… better? Which is baffling, after over 22 months of writing everything being awful. I am consoling myself with some last-ditch awfulness before we turn the corner, but that corner is getting awfully close now.
Target posting date: IDK, probably before Infinity War? Right?

This week has been sort of peak "what nice problems to have @_____@ oh god @______@"

Saturday: received last edit pass on The Omega's Pack and also the second-round edits on the forthcoming gay Catholic vampire novel I sold to Less Than Three Press in June. Elected to focus on the really urgent priority.

Sunday: spent the day doing last edits/proofread/formatting/etc and then published my new gay werewolf book!


The Omega's Pack, by Dessa Lux! This is the sequel to The Omega's Bodyguard, and wound up being twice as long (62,000 words) but I eventually got to paying off the promised full moon heat gangbang! :D

Monday: in between obsessively tracking sales of The Omega's Pack and a weird, stupid paperwork fuckup at work to which the phrase "or your employment will be suspended" was attached (it seems to be fine, but not the calmest Monday), finally read edit letter. Scream a bit about the scale of edits being requested in the second round.

Celebrate launch of gay werewolf book by going to dinner at Hamburger Mary's, where I score the server whose customer service persona is Your Sassy Gay Friend. He calls me 'girl' every time he speaks to me and it's delightful. Possibly he is bored. I am his only table.

I am sort of tempted to post the entire text of the email I sent to the author of the article, because I really liked the point I made at short-essay length better. *g*
