About the position
As regulator, the Norwegian Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (DSA) is a competence center for radiation protection and nuclear safety, focusing on updated knowledge and specialized technical capacities to help address new challenges within our area of responsibility. We are now seeking an engaged and competent leader to build technical and scientific support functions.
DSA is the authority and expert body for nuclear safety, all uses of radiation, natural radiation, the handling of radioactive waste, and radioactive contamination. Our mandate includes supervision, advice, information, quality assurance, monitoring, and measurements related to radiation protection and nuclear safety. DSA is also responsible for national nuclear preparedness and response.
This position is in the International Nuclear Safety and Security, and R&D Department. The department leads DSA’s knowledge development and international work within radiation protection and nuclear safety. The position is organized in the R&D Section, which coordinates the knowledge work across DSA.
The TSO-functions lead will coordinate and further develop technical and scientific support (TSO) for DSA’s regulatory functions, including radioactive waste and the decommissioning of nuclear facilities in Norway. The TSO is organized as a network including both internal experts at DSA and external national and international partners. Several partners are gathered in an interdisciplinary knowledge center led by the Norwegian University of Life Sciences (NMBU). The TSO network also includes agreements with external, mainly international, consultants. These functions must be coordinated and managed to meet DSA’s need for specialized assessments and services in radiation protection and nuclear safety.
