Creative Junkyard Awards - Round 10

Forgot to post this earlier but a new round is open at the Creative Junkyard Awards.

Any fandom, any source, any subject, any style is welcome. The special category this round deals with "Leading Ladies" (specifically, strong leading female characters) so if you've got an entry that fits that category...bonus! If not, there are many other categories a video can qualify for.

Submissions will close on November 19th, so make your decisions, swing by and get your vids in.

As always, it's a madhouse competition and we're really looking forward to seeing what you have for us this time!

POWDER - Strange and Beautiful Things

Film: Powder

Title: Strange and Beautiful Things

Music: "Roslin and Adama" by Bear McCreary

Description: The heartbreaking story of Jeremy "Powder" Reed, a gentle albino boy with an unparalleled intellect and supernatural abilities, who is discovered in a basement when his grandparents die. Attempts to integrate him into the outside world prove tragic as he is tormented by those around him. I've been doing a lot of fast-paced videos lately, so I wanted to slow down and capture something more emotional and artistic, and this is an absolutely beautiful tearjerker film.

The world is too cruel for someone so beautiful.Collapse )

BORDERLINE - Relentless

Film: Borderline

Title: Relentless

Music: "Descending Darkness" by Grip Inc

Description: Character study of Ed Baikman, a stalker with borderline psychosis who is released from prison after twenty years only to develop delusions of a relationship with his prison psychiatrist, who he feels deeply connected to due to their similar histories of childhood abuse. Baikman is frighteningly disturbed yet strangely sympathetic, so I thought I'd tell the story from his warped point of view.

I'll let you know when therapy's over...Collapse )

THRESHOLD - Stage One

Film: Threshold

Title: Stage One

Music: Korn vs. Blue Stahli (Aggro1 Remix)

Description: Alien hybrids are on the loose, more and more people are being infected every day and the Threshold team has their hands full with one hell of a mess. Overview of the short-lived but cool and creepy series about the end of the world as we know it...and the beginning of a whole new planet Earth.

Don't worry, we have a planCollapse )

ICONS - Kevin Durand

So...although I've been too busy to get any new videos up, I went on a semi-psychotic icon making spree after discovering that Kevin Durand is a fantastic, versatile actor whose various characters simply must be iconified. From psychopath Keamy in LOST to archangel Gabriel, asshole redneck, adorably sweet hockey player and more, this guy is awesome.

Here's a preview:

Many more can be viewed here.Collapse )

I may have gone a bit berserk with these but in my defense, I only make icon sets once a year at most. And they're addictive.

STAR TREK - A Starfleet Story

Film: Star Trek (original series plus films 2, 3 and 4)

Title: A Starfleet Story

Music: "What About Everything" by Carbon Leaf

Description: Overview of the original series and films The Wrath of Khan, The Search For Spock and The Voyage Home. Through the years, the crew of the Enterprise has seen it all, and their loyalty to each other and their beloved ship kept them going no matter what. Dedicated to the trekkies who've laughed, cried and been on the edge of their seat right beside them all the way.

Notes: If this doesn't make you super nostalgic, I refuse to believe you are a trekkie.

Steady as she goesCollapse )

STAR TREK (TOS) - Moments in Time

Film: Star Trek (original series)

Title: Moments in Time

Music: "Battle Without Honor or Humanity" by Tomoyasu Hotei

Description: It was hard to narrow it down but this is a runthrough of my 15 favorite episodes. It might have been made half a century ago, but this series remains one of the best and continues to kick the crap out of most similar shows from recent years.

Notes: Episodes are ordered based on how they fit with the music, not by preference. I pretty much love them all equally, although my VERY top favorites are The City on the Edge of Forever, The Trouble With Tribbles, Mirror Mirror and The Naked Time.

Shut up Spock, we're rescuing you!Collapse )

STAR TREK 2009 - Keep Trekkin'

Film: Star Trek XI

Title: Keep Trekkin'

Music: "88 Rounds Per Minute" by Blue Stahli

Description: Action packed overview of the epic 2009 film. As someone who grew up with the original series and crew, I fully expected to hate this reboot but it ended up being one of my favorite films of recent years. They got the characters and the charm of old school Trek just right while still making it appealing to newer audiences, and the visuals were stunning.

WARNINGS: All fast moving, high-powered action. Watch the eyes.

I dare you to do betterCollapse )
