Who's On First?

"I'll give you some time alone," Bob said, as he left Luke and Reid sitting together in his office.

Luke stared at the paper in his hands before looking up at Reid with tears in his eyes.  "I'm sorry, Reid..."

Reid got out of his chair and knelt in front of a seated Luke.  He took the piece of paper out of Luke's grasp and then held his hands, rubbing his thumbs over Luke's knuckles.  "What are you talking about?"

"It's not fair."

"It's biology," Reid said chuckling, his eyes bright.

"I want him to be both of ours."

Reid held Luke's face in his hands and kissed him gently.  "He is both of ours."

"Cut the crap, Reid...you know what I mean.  How are you so okay with this?"

"Because it's not a surprise.  I've always known.  I knew the day he was born."

"How?" Luke asked, wiping at his eyes.

"I don't know...I just did, and as he's grown, it is more and more evident to me.  He looks just like you."

"But he has your blue eyes, and he's stubborn, and he's so smart, and I just hoped..."

"You hoped that I was his biological father?" Reid asked, standing and pulling Luke to his feet.

"Yeah."

Reid smiled and cupped Luke's cheek.  "Then you should be able to understand why I'm thrilled that you my baby daddy."

Luke put his hand over his mouth, surprised by the laughter that bubbled up in his chest.  "Oh my God, Reid..."

Reid kissed Luke.  "You're beautiful and kind, and you're the father of my child.  How can I not be happy about that?"

"And you're the father of my child," Luke said, "in every way that matters."

Reid pulled Luke into his arms.  "The DNA results change nothing.  Okay?"  Luke nodded and hugged Reid tightly.  "It's almost 2:00.  How about we go pick our son up from school and take him out for ice cream at Sully's?"

"That sounds like a great idea," Luke said, "I love you so much, Reid."

"I love you too."
