"I'm sorry I'm bad, I'm sorry you're blue, I'm sorry about all things I said to you
And I know I can't take it back
I love how you kiss, I love all your sounds, and baby the way you make my world go round
And I just wanted to say I'm sorry." -- Buckcherry
Reid knocked on Luke's door. After a second soft knock, Reid decided it was too late and started to return to his car.
The door creaked open behind him.
"Reid?"
Reid turned back around. "Hey, I'm sorry...it's late...I woke you..."
"It's okay. I fell asleep on the couch watching TV. Hmmmm...mom's car is here; didn't even hear them come in."
"Okay, go back to sleep; I'll see you tomorrow."
"No, hey, no...Reid. It's okay. Come on in." Luke reached out and tugged at the bottom of Reid's jacket.
Reid stepped in tentatively, watching Luke as Luke rubbed the sleep out of his eyes. "What time is it?" he asked, yawning.
"It's a little before two."
Luke walked toward the couch and looked back over his shoulder to make sure Reid was following. Reid grabbed Luke's arm and pulled him toward him. He put his hand behind Luke's neck and pulled Luke's mouth to his, kissing him firmly, letting his tongue brush across the seam of Luke's lips until Luke opened his mouth and their tongues slid against each other. Luke pushed Reid's jacket off his shoulders and Reid let it fall to the floor. Reid broke the kiss and wrapped his arms around Luke's waist and nuzzled his face into the space between Luke's shoulder and neck. "I'm sorry," he said quietly.
Luke sighed and smiled. "Me too."
"No, really...I'm sorry. I'm a jealous beast."
Luke laughed. "Well, I'm an insensitive jerk."
Reid smiled against Luke's neck. "We make quite a pair."
"Yes, we do," Luke agreed, contentedly.
Reid pulled back and palmed Luke's cheek and jaw, letting his thumb slide across Luke's bottom lip. He raised his eyes to look into Luke's brown ones. "I like you...................a lot."
"I like you too. And things are good, aren't they?"
"They are."
Reid nodded, and Luke kissed the corner of his mouth. "Then why do you look so stressed out?" Luke put his hands on either side of Reid's head. "Really, I'm worried about you. You seem sad or anxious or something...over tired even...you were really distracted tonight."
"It's just work stuff. I'm worried about a pateint. He's not taking my advice. It's frustrating. I'm sorry I took it out on you."
"It's okay. And I'm sorry I brought up my ex numerous times tonight. Not cool."
"I like this about us."
"What's that?" Luke asked, pressing his lips against the side of Reid's neck.
"I like that we talk through stuff. We can get upset with eachother, but we don't lay blame, and then we talk it out, and then..."
"And then we're okay."
"Yeah. I've never..."
"Me either," Luke sighed.
"I'm sorry I left tonight. I know what you were offering, and believe me, I wanted to stay. Part of my leaving was that I was irritated, but mostly I was just worried about my patient, and there was some stuff going on with Katie at home which made me feel like I needed to be there for her, and so...I needed to go..."
"Is Katie ok? Jacob?"
"Yes, they're fine. I want you to know it wasn't you. I think I made it seem like it was payback for your dad's non-wedding night, and maybe it sort of was...but it was other stuff too..."
"It's okay."
"No, it's not. I wanted to stay."
"I know you did. I could see it on your face. It's not too late though," Luke said, his hand running down Reid's chest. "Stay. Spend the night with me." He leaned in and kissed Reid passionately.
Reid groaned into the kiss, pulling Luke's hips into himself but then pushed him gently away. "No, Luke. Your brother's in the room next to yours."
"He's a sound sleeper," Luke laughed quietly. "C'mon Reid, I want you."
"God, Luke. I want you too. So bad...but, here's not the place..."
"Okay," Luke sighed. "How about we just sleep? Lay down together."
"There's no way we'll get behind a closed door and be able to just sleep. You know we won't be able to keep our hands, or mouths for that matter, off each other." Reid dug his fingers into Luke's hips and smiled slyly, his eyes focused on Luke's lips.
" I want to be near you," Luke said, his fingers in Reid's hair and gripping his upper arm.
"I want that too. Soon, Luke. Soon. In a place where we can take as much time as we need and be as...ahem...*vocal* as we want." Reid smiled again and pressed his forehead to Luke's.
"Are you saying that you're loud, Dr. Oliver?" Luke teased.
"What I'm saying, Mr. Snyder, is that I'm going to do things to you that will have you screaming my name."
Luke closed his eyes and swallowed hard. "Fuck, Reid..."
"Yes, just like that. But louder and...moanier...," Reid laughed. "In nine months, I don't think I've ever heard you utter a curse word."
"Yeah, I'm sorry..."
"Are you kidding? I love it. Profanity is one of my favorite things." Reid laughed again quietly. Just being near Luke was helping his stress level. "Walk me to the door?"
Luke bent down, picked up Reid's jacket, and held it out. Reid slid his arms in, and Luke smoothed the jacket across his shoulders. Reid turned, reached down, and slid his hand into Luke's.
Luke put his hand on the door handle, pulled, and held the door open for Reid. Reid looked down at their entwined fingers and squeezed Luke's hand before bringing his eyes up to his boyfriend's. He raised their hands and kissed Luke's knuckles before leaning in and kissing Luke softly on the jaw.
"I'll see you tomorrow," Reid said quietly against Luke's ear.
"OK...yeah, tomorrow." Luke kissed Reid's lips once more.
"Bye."
"Bye."
