Pixel version of the album cover for Our Roots Run Deep by Dominique Fils-Aimé

Our Roots Run Deep
Dominique Fils-Aimé

With botanical metaphors, Fils-Aimé likens the individual struggles of humankind to the invisible turmoil of the natural world. She vocalizes near-instrumentally, a capella rhythms emphasized by percussion-- sound without words evoking the deeper experience universal to all life. In this way she defines a space in which her more traditional vocals can dance. The album is designed to ebb and flow, seasonal as a garden, through cold and warm, awake and sleeping... At once traditional and brand new. She has a new album coming later this very month. I'm excited!
